Don’t navigate the blues alone. In this 90-day devotional, Katara Washington Patton openly shares her personal experience with the blues. She offers hope through practical steps and godly wisdom that have helped her and many others find freedom from worry, anxiety, and depression. Each day contains an easy-to-read devotion with Scripture, as Patton warmly reminds you that even Jesus suffered and overcame depressing times.
Washington - Patton is one of my favorite Christian authors. Our Father is a Waymaker God is the ultimate Navigator, even when a situation seems impossible. The devotions written in this book are for the worrier at heart and touch on topics like relationships and health. One of my favorite things about this devotional is the author talks about anxiety, depression and even grief but ties those emotions to Biblical stories. God will make a way, and He thrives on the impossible.
The devotions will take probably around 5 minutes to read, after the devotion completion there is a section called "My Confession" this is where you get a guided short sentence of reflection, afterwards you have "Progress, Not Perfection" this area is for personal reflection and prayer. I absolutely loved this book so much I shared it with a co-worker who purchased a copy.
Navigating the Blues was a really good devotional and in exchange for my honest and thoughtful review I received an Advanced Readers copy via Netgalley.
Navigating the Blues is a genuinely helpful devotional by Katara Washington Patton. Instead of saying as so many do, “You should just trust Jesus, and all will be well,” this devotional gives encouragement and wisdom to those days when you need to navigate the blues. Using Biblical examples and wisdom from the Word that will help, giving hope.
The short burst of insightful readings is a common format to Our Daily Bread, taking around five minutes or so to read. However, much is given to ponder on during the day. I especially liked the response question and the sections titled “My Confession” and "Progress, Not Perfection”.
This book does not have any judgmental or flippant words but helpful thoughts, and suggestions along with Biblical guidance. I would recommend this devotional to any and all but especially to those who struggle with depressing times in their lives.
4.5 Stars The publisher through Net Galley provided a digital ARC. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.
I really enjoyed reading Navigating the Blues by Katara Washington Patton. This 90 day devotional is written by someone who is actually knows what is like to struggle with depression and be in the throws of it, but at the same time trust God with it come what may. Each devotion has a Bible Verse, a corresponding thought/story, a confession, an activity, and a prayer. I like honesty and revelation that is in each devotion. Navigating the Blues really ministered to me and came along at the right time during one of my dark periods. I highly recommend this book to everyone. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. My review is also on Goodreads.
Navigating the Blues is an empowering tool for any Believer on their wellness journey. When emotional and mental health challenges threaten to overshadow your faith, this book can help remind you of God’s presence in your life and reignite your belief that there is light in your life.
