Tall, acne-scarred, heavy, and covered in stretch marks, Iridessa “Ivy” Greene has never fit the typical beauty standard. Working as a receptionist in a plastic surgeon’s office eventually becomes a daily reminder of the woman Ivy is not. And it doesn’t help that her best friend, Lana, is living her best life with a body sculpted by the gods.
Ivy’s artificial display of confidence to the world eventually becomes true, but she unexpectedly finds herself drawn into the lure of perfection.
What length is Ivy willing to go to gain the perfection she desires? Is she willing to risk her soul?
I am Margaret (Mz. Demeanor) Flack. I am a Louisville Kentucky native. I write urban fiction with a flair for the dramatic. As an author in the game for a short while I hope that I have shown that I belong here. I love to hear from my readers and take everything they say into consideration. As long as I have readers I will write and always remain true to my style and in my lane.
I hated this book because it was too many mistakes for me. Towards the end it jumped all over the place. The book I had kept getting Thaddeus and Stephen as the same person. Will not be continuing with this series.
Wow! Wow! Wow! Self love and confidence is something everyone needs in this life! Yes I'm aware its easier said than done but definitely a necessity of life! I just knew after the debacle with Lana, Ivy would go off to show herself approved. The pressure of the world wanting people with slim bodies, long silky hair and defined faces truly got the best of her. She met her real life guardian angel in Thaddeus and took him for granted at every turn. Azalea and Stephen were the pits for real. By the time she realized how they were, it was too late for her. Despite her health declining, seeing Ivy mend her friendship with Lana, write books, become a motivational speaker and counselor warmed my heart. I really was hoping for her to get her happily ever after once Thaddeus came back in her life. No matter what life throws at us, we must always accept that God's will will be done! Great read
I really enjoyed reading this novel! Poor Ivy went through so much just to look like what the world's standards were when Thaddeus loved her just as she was! Alzaela was crazy as was Stephen. Her bestie Lana was as damaged as she was. In the end she got the man of her dreams but her life was shortened because she envied those who weren't really happy with themselves! This book took on a lot that real people deal with daily, I just wish the author would've used a proofreader, there were many grammatical errors. In the part where Thaddeus was bring promoted she kept using Stephen's name instead of Thaddeus' as well as Alzaela for Lana hence the 4 star rating!
The author nailed it! If we just knew how to boost our self esteem and love ourselves without all the noise from society, this book wouldn't be needed. But it's a great example of how far we go to prove ourselves acceptable by others' standards. Ivy went overboard, almost to her own detriment. The kicker - she still was judged. Folks, it's never enough. Be yourself. Any changes, improvements - do it for self. I loved that Ivy's story became teachable moments for others; she really came full circle. But that ending...just read this. Whatever you're obsessing over, take a lesson from this book.
I liked the opening and the pace. The main character was flawed and showed great growth towards the end. However, the editing was poor as the author confused characters multiple times (e.g., Stephen vs Thaddeus, Lana vs Azalea). It was quite annoying and interrupted the flow as well as my imagination. The ending was too rushed which made it hard to even care what happened. This is my first time reading her work but will give this author one more chance. Hopefully, there's improvement.
Ok, the typing and grammatical errors were way too obvious and frequent to be ignored. Oftentime, Thaddeus would be referred to as Stephen. Lana was confused for Azalea; and even towards the end, the spelling of the young girl in the office name was changed 3 different times. What made it worse was that it was all done in the same chapter!!!
The message was solid, and the delivery was poor. This story had the potential to be the best, but finish the series and judge for yourself.
I've personally never dove into this genre before but I'm glad to say I enjoyed it!
Like a lot of us, Ivy had low self esteem in some areas and decided to change it even if it wasn't the best idea. I'm glad Lana and Thaddeus both came back to her at some point in their lives. The ending is sad but I can say I'm proud of Ivy's growth and her desire to help others even when she can't physically be there anymore.
This is one of my favorites in the series and I can definitely relate to the morality behind the story, the characters and the message behind this book.
This is my first time reading from this author and I am not disappointed. I love the writing style and the delivery of this entire book. There is so much to unpack here! I cannot wait to read more from this author.
This kept me engaged from beginning to end. I had no idea what to expect next, and definitely didn’t see that ending. There were parts that were funny and sad, and the characters were entertaining. I’ll definitely read more by this author. At times I was confused because Stephen’s name was used in place of Thaddeus’ on several occasions.
I enjoyed the story and the lessons offered. However, there were so many errors it was sometimes distracting. I tried to overlook the confusion of Stephen and Thaddeus to concentrate on the story. In addition, there were many grammatical mistakes.
Proofreaders, or more diligent editors, are needed throughout the “7 Deadly Sins” series!
This was a good read. This book started out great and slowed down and once it picked up it was a great read. This book had several typos and at times the character names were mixed up. Other than that it was a good read.
I must say that overall this was a good book. The only reason I didn’t give 5-stars was the typos, as well as character confusion. Thaddeus would be referred to as Daniel multiple times. In spite of that I pushed through and I’m glad I did.
While I enjoyed thus book, the confusion with Thaddeus' and Stephens names being erroneously interchanged was nerve wracking. The other typos were also disappointing. Having said this, the was a wonderful story. Ok was sad at the end though.
This book was awesome and whether fiction, or no, it covered a lot of ground on the actions/results of persons not loving themselves and accepting the way they are.
The book was good but difficult to follow because it was so poorly edited. Sequence of events out of order. Names mixed up (sometimes in the same paragraph).
