En este libro el autor nos da un repaso bastante completo y a la vez sencillo de la cosmología moderna, hasta llegar al punto de la materia oscura. ¿Dónde diablos está la materia oscura? Según los cálculos, más del 95% de la masa del Universo está en forma de materia oscura (27%) o energía oscura (68%). No recuerdo que el autor llegara a precisar entre estas dos fuentes (el libro es del 87, desde entonces hemos avanzado algo). El apelativo "oscura" viene no por su proximidad ideológica a la filosofía Sith sino porque no emite radiación electromagnética y es por tanto indetectable para nuestro sistemas actuales de medición (excluimos detectores de ondas gravitacionales, que son capaces de detectar otro tipo de eventos).
En conjunto es un paseo maravilloso por la cosmología, en la que una pregunta hace que nos pongamos al día en lo que sí sabemos para poder preguntarnos con fundamente qué diablos pasa con lo que no entendemos. Un viaje de de conocimiento que merece la pena.
