Wrapped In Black

Rate this book
It’s the UnHoly Trinity’s first Christmas in New Orleans. Nora decides she, Søren, and Kingsley need to celebrate with a very special gift-giving game—not a boring White Elephant exchange, but a Black & Blue Elephant exchange where the gifts hurt as much to receive as they do to give. And Nora already knows exactly what she wants…

This erotic holiday novella takes place shortly after the events of “Christmas in Suite 37A” (Michael’s Wings).

LOVED this collection! ❤️
I’d read a few of these stories before, but they were absolutely worth the re-read! The new ones were just as wonderful. I especially loved that each story was set during the Christmas Holidays—it added such a cozy, magical touch.

The writing is beautifully atmospheric, and I adored these characters all over again!

I don't know if it's just me, but I keep forgetting that the characters in this book/series aren't living in the real world. This is just how layered and real that they are written, you really forget that they aren't real humans living in the world. Of course we have the usual humor, banter and joy that comes from reading anything with the cast of this series, but it had substance to it.

This is highly erotic, we get three main sexual scenes

Soren/Nora, Nora/Nico, Soren/Kingsley

This Novella takes place between "The King" and "The Virgin". We are filled in on events not previously expanded upon but we really, really have wanted to know.

What happened after Nora answered the door to Nico’s home when Kingsley knocked at the end of “The King”?

Although there are different emotional landmines being addressed, there are two main issues at hand.

Nora and Nico's relationship and how it is affecting Soren and Kingsley and Soren's own emotional baggage that has up to now never been mentioned or addressed.

What is talked about, what happens in this novella, only gives a new perspective and insight to what seemed to be minor actions and turns of phrase in the books following “The King”.

Finally, Thank You to Ms. Reisz, who found the perfect time and way to make her readers know that the time for Soren to consider himself “straight but for the one exception” has past and is over. She didn’t make a big deal out of it, but she made sure that we knew that SHE knew that it needed to be addressed, and so did it.

I want to also aknowlege and thank her for our White Elepant gift this year.

I read 3 of the 5 stories in this anthology because I had read the other two in December within "A Winter Symphony".

Tiffany Reisz is magic. Absolutely inspiring.
It must be some sort of voodoo where a series of stories sprinkled with kink can get me so relaxed.
Even the NON-Kink stuff got me relaxed.
How is READING about a Massage relaxing?
Seriously, this woman is absolute magic. I don't know what I'm going to do like - how do you find another author this good to read, who makes you feel this good and this relaxed when reading?

I was trying to explain it to a friend of mine and I think because there is so much trust, and love and there isn't a lot of BS, there isn't BS drama either, like stupid drama... and I think that is just so relaxing, that people can be so freely themselves and still be loved.
All the banter and conversational exchanges are just so masterful as well. I can only dream of being so good with a pen/keys.

I can't wait to read "A Wolfe in Winter" and I'm hearing rumours that "The Headmaster" is finally coming to print, and then her next non-erotic adult fiction novel, "The Lost Story" will be out this summer.

Time to go back and read all her Pulp Fiction Novellas.

Wrapped in Black

5 different stories within this one book. Wrapped in Black is the last story. All enjoyable, seductive and intriguing in a christmassy way.

The Original Sinners series has been helping me calm my mind and get through tough times for years, and it's started to feel like a warm blanket in cold weather. I warmed myself with it this November day, and gave my mind a break from its usual burden.

I've already read all the stories in the collection, maybe more than once, and I already had most of them in paperback, which is why I was so disappointed it didn't have last year's Christmas story like it was announced. I kept thinking how many times do I have to buy the same stories. Then the list of sites where I could get books in English at even remotely acceptable prices became alarmingly and depressingly short, so now I'm happy I have this collection of stories about characters that are dear to me, and have been dear to me for ten whole years.

I did love rereading all the stories. The first one is A Beautiful Thing, an old story about old times when Nora and Søren were broken up, and mad at each other, but Nora still made sacrifices to give Søren an amazing gift.

A Christmas Maggie, the second story, is also an old one, and the only one not about the unholy trinity. It's about Daniel and his two loves, Maggie and Anya, making peace with the past, and turning towards the future he always wanted.

After those two short stories come three Christmas novellas. A Midwinter Night's Dream is the weird, but amusing story created by Eleanor's fevered mind. The other two A Winter Symphony and Wrapped in Black, have a lot of Kingsley (yay for me) and his troubles and worries in his HEA. The main trio is leading complicated happily-ever-afters, and I enjoyed the reminder of how they decided to exchange New York for New Orleans, and how they decided to give each other presents that hurt. I think I need Søren's (un)wanted gift for myself after the last few long years.

4.5 stars. This book was exactly what I was looking for. The interactions outside of the intensity of the main series was perfect. I love Soren and Kingsley even more than I did before. I cannot get enough of them. I particularly loved reading about how they settled on living in New Orleans and how Soren's love for Kingsley heavily dictated the move. Reisz beautifully captured the city of New Orleans and made me miss it so much.
