4.5 - Poor Lex! She has been through so much growth, pain, danger and heartache, but she is stronger for it. Lex and Marcus/Heru deserve their HEA, but they will need to wait even longer. I loved how they fell in love all over again and how Heru learned the depth of his love. Such an engaging and interesting story.

I really appreciate when the author manages to surprise me, even when I’m ready for the surprise! :)

This book is Lex’s coming out. LOL

Where she started as a human, here she’s forced to become a goddess!

Obviously she has a lot to overcome…

The unique ability to move through time, to manipulate the At, to manipulate other people’s memories… all the time being aware that it’s on her shoulders the fate of the world.

There’re many, many surprises awaiting her in the past. Some old friends will become enemies. Some old enemies will become friends…

This series is full of surprises!!!

On to the next!!!

I loved the first book in this trilogy and I knew I would like the second installment but I didn't expect this book to totally blow the first book out of the water!! I ADORED this book! I LOVED it! And now I am left feeling so out of sorts because I can't wait to get my hands on the final book of this truly amazing series.

Describing this book is almost hard to do because of how detailed and creative the story line is. So, all I'll say is that if you like paranormal/ sci-fi novels with ancient Egyptian history thrown in the mix you MUST read this book. There is also a love story woven into the backbone of the plot which just takes the book to exceptional heights.

The Echo Queen is just so different from anything that I have read that there was no way I wouldn't love it. Lindsey Fairleigh has great writing skills and a wonderful imagination, read the series and become addicted to Lex and Marcus!

Echo Queen (Echo Trilogy, #2) Lindsey Fairleigh
Review from jeannie zelos book reviews
Genre: paranormal romance.

Well, sometimes you get a book that’s such a great read it’s hard to put down and I knew after reading Echo Prophecy and the novella Resonance that this would be one of those. I sat reading in bed telling myself “just one more chapter”, and then of course I needed to read one more, and one more after that...If you like a story that is full of detail, complex and with amazing realistic characters you’ll love this. Its centred around Lex and Marcus again, but a good portion of the book takes place 4,000 years previously, in old Egypt. That was fascinating and I really enjoyed the way Lindsey wove the past and present together. I was worried that I’d miss Marcus, but his younger self, Heru, was just perfect and it was a treat to meet him in his (relative) youth and see how he’d changed.
Of course its not all sweetness and light, they still face the problem of Apep, who’s now managed to jump into Marcus, putting Lex into danger. Lex also needs to learn how to manage the power Nuin gave her before it kills her, and meeting him in the past allows that though it’s a close call at times. I love his cryptic answers – can see just why Lex found them so frustrating though! I enjoyed meeting more new characters, and keeping up with ones we already know, trying to work out who can be trusted and who may be working against them.
Its a fantastic read, emotive, erotic, and full of detail. I loved the way Lex learned to manipulate content/stuff...not sure what to call it ... from the At. Its also very cleverly done how Lindsey manages to work ways round the problems of time, such as the bonding issue and separation dangers, Lex learning to manage time and space to do what she needs and how to let her future and past selves know what to do. Clever stuff, and everything fits well within the framework of skills we’ve learned about. I HATE when the hero/heroine gets some new, untold, unheard of superpower just at the right time. There were times that Lex only managed to connect properly with her powers at the crucial moment, where stress forced the issue and brought forward her motivation and control, but she and the others did nothing that the foundations for the reader hadn’t already been laid.
Once again an amazing read, riveting story, fabulous descriptions, mysteries and secrets to solve, and all rounded up with lots of sensuality between Lex and Marcus/Heru.
Stars: Five – its one of those series that I know I’ll re read back to back once all parts are out. I can look back already and see where i missed some of the clues, where things were suggested but I haven't picked up on, and I’d like to look again at some of the characters in the early stages of meeting them, knowing how they turn out later. I read a lot - 15+ books a week - so it’s sometimes difficult to recall exactly who people are and how they fit in the story, when I’ve read several hundred in the mean time. Its why a good back to back read works so well for me, where I can immerse myself fully, lose myself in the magic of the story and really enjoy the novels properly.

I really enjoyed this book, and loved that most of it was spent in ancient Egypt. I love the worldbuilding by Fairleigh and the complexity of the Nejeret hierarchy, powers, and importance to universal balance. I did think the ending was very rushed, I wish that were a little more drawn out like many of the book's other scenes were.

I love mythology. Echo Queen is a wonderful contemporary take using Egyptian mythology as its foundation. The story is well-written and, the characters are well developed. Echo Queen is extremely thought provoking. Lindsey Fairleigh attention to detail is admirable. Echo Queen would make an excellent movie.

As we rejoin Lex, it's just not her day, Marcus's eyes do some funky colour change business, then he tries to drown her in the bath....awkward. Turns out Apep, the thing possessing Set can now hop a ride in to Marcus too. Which kind of makes Marcus in to a really big threat. Luckily for her that really lovely doctor from Prophecy, turns out to be Aset, Marcus's sister, and she shows up in the nick of time, with some very bizarre instructions, including fleeing the present time to stay alive.

The next thing Lex knows, she's 4000 years in the past, hanging in Egypt with Nuin who's introduced her as his wife, and ya know...the goddess Hathor. She must train with Nuin to learn how to wield the power he gave her, and she must use it often, if she doesn't, the power will rip out of her, and it's not pleasant. While she makes something to help Marcus with his withdrawals, Lex will have to rely on the very moody young Heru, and as Heru....let's say, warms up to her, are things about to get very, very complicated?

While Lex is away, trouble is brewing, a group called The Kin are working against Lex and co and it turns out that two of their own are willing to betray them. The question is....which two? Will Lex make it back in one piece? Who's out to get Nuin? And can they stop Apep?

So, everyone who read my review for Echo Prophecy knows how much I loved it, and ya know...the series, so you can imagine my reaction when an email with this new installment attached appeared in my inbox! This series is literally the kind I've been waiting for, these are my perfect books, the blend of history, particularly Egypt, romance, action, paranormal and mystery is the kind of thing I've always been looking for but never found....until now.

I'm a history geek, and to cut to the chase, Egypt is a part of history that really intrigues me, and because Lindsey is like a freaking mind reader or something, in this installment she's all ".....screw it let's go back to Old Kingdom Egypt and hang out". Seriously, I've gotta give props to Lindsey for the sheer amount of research that went in to this book. I have never been back to Ancient Egypt, shocking I know, but we don't all have super cool time travelling abilities or a Tardis, anyways, the world building combined with the research of the time blended together to give you a real feel for what it must have been like to live back then. You could practically smell the (slightly icky most of the time) smells and feel the sun and everything was painted so vividly it's like you where there.

I loved the world created in the first book, and this one was just as all encompassing, so engrossed in reading was I, that I pretty much tuned the outside world out and a bomb could have gone off and I probably wouldn't have noticed!

I love how tidbits of history where woven in to the narrative, just enough to intrigue you and interest you, but not an overload. I love how much history is subtly woven in to the book, alongside the rich lore we have for Lex's people. Don't get me started on the mind blowing new installment to the lore regarding Nuin and ya know....the freaking universe. It's astounding how detailed the lore is, and we get more and more throughout each book and it's so extensive and detailed without bogging down the narrative. It's a wonder.

The time travel trip, the whole Nuin/universe thing and a couple of other little things all combine to ensure this continues to be one hell of a unique book, that you really can't put down, I think it would have taken a crowbar to get my hands off my Kindle.

I can't praise Lindsey enough for the narrative/plot line in this book. Like always, I couldn't figure out anything, I had no idea what was going to happen next so this was a pretty big roller coaster of a story for me. I probably should have, but I just had no idea where it was going next.

We have two perspectives going on in this book, while Lex is back in time, we check in with the present thanks to Kat, and I have to see the way it was done was flawless. The change was smooth, it made sense, and it was timed just right. We'd leave Lex and then it'd be Kat's turn, in one instance we missed out on Lex pretty much packing, but in the other we left Lex, and then when we returned to present day, Kat was reading the walls of Lex's sanctuary where she wrote down everything that had happened. I just thought it was so smooth and so cool how we left Lex.....turned the page...and it was Kat...but then we got a little chunk of writing from Lex that Kat was copying down that let us know what was going on before we caught up with the present time people. I explained it really shittily, but you'll know what I mean when you read the book, and I promise that it's way cool, refreshing and intriguing. Not to mention it smoothly carries on the story in a unique way.

Lindsey has done an incredibly awesome job with a very complex plot. Lex travels back in time, and you really do have to pay attention because things have to happen for Lex to be where she needs to be to go back in time, then before Lex returns to present time, she has to set up those things, run a quick rescue mission and so on. There's young Marcus (like...4000 years younger Marcus) and there's memories that have to be changed until she can come back and unblock them, there's a bonding etc etc, I don't want to give too much away, but this could have got reaaally complicated and a total mind fuck, but Lindsey wrote the whole time travel thing very clearly so it was complex, but easy to understand.

It's just kind of mind blowing when you realize Lex was behind EVERYTHING and you realize the ins and outs and in the present time you see something and then in the past you see what really happened and literally I cannot rave enough.

So yes, complex plot, very well done, with smooth narrative that was engaging from both POV's.

I still love Lex, I mean I would have freaked out more than once, but she just carries on and gets shit done. I mean she meets Heru's wives and kids, and yes she's upset in the beginning but when you think about how much it must have hurt, but she still lived with them all. She's an extraordinary character.

And speaking of Heru's family...how could you leave us hanging regarding a certain frozen in time daughter?!

Every single character jumps off the page, and comes to life for you. The depth involved with these characters is incredible. We learn more about Set and before he was possessed when he was a really nice person, we learn more about Kat, and we learn waaay more about Nuin and Marcus. These already complex and detailed characters keep having more added to them that just makes you love them more and more!

The final book in the trilogy has been set up perfectly and very subtly. We have an inkling of where it's going and what's going to happen next, or at least one challenge, but to be honest we don't really know, I would theorize something but I will be so very, very wrong!

Echo Queen is a strong sequel to Echo Prophecy, exploring more of the time travel aspect of Lex's power, and let's just say...shit gets real. Filled with all the things you loved in the first book, and then some, it's engaging, atmospheric and 100% enjoyable. It really is a must read, the book is incredible and this is one of the best series I've read in a loooooong time! Echo Queen is action packed, so much is going on there's never a dull moment, it's a truly fantastic blend of genres/features and you would be silly to miss out on all the fun!

Seriously, fun, Lindsey is nice to us and doesn't cause us pain and suffering ;)

One of my pet peeves with this story is the whitewashing. Ancient Egyptians were dark-skinned with tightly curled hair. She put in Set, Heru who according to her descriptions have Middle-eastern features, Lex who is closer to being caucasian. Heru and Set would not look middle eastern, they will look black because people see their gods in themselves obviously. Also, though Lex grew up a lot during the series, she acts like a spoilt brat who is really slow to connect dots. At least she is brave, so I love her for that. Also, the narration is beautiful but the features given to these characters are not believable for that period
If This story was set after Alexander's the Great's reign, that's absolutely believable because the rulers then did look middle-eastern and caucasian. If you wish to put white features on ancient characters, Rome, Persia, the Vikings, the Nordics, the Gauls and many others would work better. Else, just use the right "People" to work it.

Even though real time travel was happening it wasn’t super complicated or overly convoluted so I appreciated that!

I can’t believe the whole thing with Jenny and her baby kind of just fell off and got forgotten about at the end of the book?? Like what. I know there was a lot going on but I thought they’d at least mention to Lex that her sister was basically poisoned??

I enjoyed this book sometimes more than the first and sometimes less but overall it was another engaging story. I enjoyed the multi timelines mixed within this story. I felt like the stakes might be almost a bit crazily high which was what sometimes pulled me out of fully buying into the story. I liked where the characters story arch’s all reached at end of novel and I may read the next one but equally I also feel content with where this one has left off.

Where is this story going? How is Lex going to save the universe and what exactly is going on with Marcus? In this second book, it feels more meaty than the first. Lex's growth into her powers really start in this one and it's a doozy. All over her accepted views of how the world worked and who was the bad guy comes to a screeching halt. If there is one word I would use to describe this book, it would be focused.

Lex is focused to reunite with Marcus. Her entire being is focused on Marcus. it feels as if the side product to Marcus being her universe is actually saving the universe. Not sure how I feel about this, but it made for an interesting story. This book moved at a fast pace and I enjoy whipping through the time periods to get to where Lex needed to be. I liked how the different events connected and became a clearer picture. I imagine the Ms. Fairleigh plotting this all out with sticky notes and strings tying one event to the next and how crazy this tangle web turns out.

What I did not enjoy as much yet appreciate the need... the flipping between Lex and her 1/2 sister, Kat's point of view... in 1st person. I am generally not a 1st person advocate unless the main character is someone I can understand and admire. Key word... admire. Not a fan of Kat. She's a bit too young for me and her emotional thoughts are tedious.

Overall, I devoured this book in one sitting and eagerly move on to the next.

"For most people, time is a river, flowing in only one direction...but Alexandra Larson isn’t most people."

Threatened by an evil spirit who loves to possess people in order to do his will, Lex is taken back several thousands of years to the Old Kingdom. The mystery and beauty of Egypt's Old Kingdom comes alive in vibrant detail as the Echo Trilogy continues. For Lex being able to experience the Old Kingdom for herself is a gift any archeologist would swoon over. There is no time for sight seeing. She is there for one purpose only - to learn from the great god Nuin how to handle the power he has transferred to her and use this power to prevent the chaos that is coming to current time.

I am a sucker for anything dealing with Egypt. If on top of that I am given a complex, mystery/thriller, I am in heaven. In addition, if a love story and passionate romance is at the heart of the story... well, I am drooling. Marcus (Heru) is like rolling together Christian Grey and Gideon Cross into one and making him a god for real. I cannot get enough of the love affair between Marcus and Lex!

Lindsey Farleigh amazes me with the level of detail and the complexity of her story. Once again, she has immersed me in story where I feel, smell and see the Old Kingdom in Egypt as if I were a time traveler myself. This absolutely wonderful story is meant for adults only.

I think the fact that I moved house while reading this did not help it. I think I also jot the biggest fan of the time travel aspect of it all. Or the pregnancy trope. So through no fault of its own, I’m slowly losing interest in this story purely because of my preference.

As an Egyptology fan I appreciate the history, the names, the INDEX. Love it.

I also appreciate the ever more complicated web that is being built with all of the time travelling and some people knowing everything, some nothing. Messages being left, actions needing completing in a certain order etc.

The twist at the end was… predictable and while I will read the last I t he trilogy, I know my hearts jot really in it. Maybe I’ll take a break and read a pallet cleansing contemporary romance…

LOVED IT!! Wasn't as crazy about the first book, but with all these fantasy trilogies, the first one has the most explanations and more of its plot devoted to setting the foundation for the entire series. therefore, I began the second book immediately, and was blown away. Its so exciting, amazing, emotional, sexy and I'm simply devastated the 3rd book isn't out yet for me to start right now!!! I love the time travel and magic aspects. It was wonderful, again, thank you for your books as I felt as excited reading this as I did the your ashes series... which again, I can't stand waiting for the next one to be released!!

Definitely on my Top 10 list for 2021. This series is gripping and had me on the edge of my seat for three books on audio. Just when I thought I knew where she was going, she’d throw another curveball in the mix and bam you were right back at square on. Also, the romance was moving through all three books. That is hard to do, but somehow she made their struggles to get to one another fraught with anxiety, sadness, and love. Each book was truly unique in its own right and the romance was almost like they were starting over in each book.

Book 1: Echo in Time

I was in love from the first 20 or so minutes. The narrator is great to listen to and the story was fast paced. Lex is just your typical doctoral student trying to get her first Egyptian dig and figure out her place in the world. Her family is super supportive although she has a rough relationship with her sister. Turns out they were both artificial inseminations which is the beginning of how Lex becomes this seeking person trying to discover who she really is. Then the dreams begin and she can’t figure those out either because it’s as if she’s seeing the future. Just when she thinks she’s losing her mind, she discovers she’s part of this secret race of super humans. Oh, and did I mention she meets her soul mate?

The romance seems forbidden because Lex thinks he’s her professor and off limits. Turns out he’s just playing at being a professor, but is really a leader of the world few know about and has been around for millennia. The story is fast paced and we see Lex struggle with accepting who she is and what her role in the universe will be. There is a lot of mystery about her birth father and who is trying to take down the fabric of time. The mystery only begins in this book, but somethings come to conclusion in this first book that make you wonder what the next book will be about. The angst she develops around Lex and Marcus comes to a head towards the end and they realize they are meant to be together. After that the team is in separable, only by time.

Book 2. Time Anomaly

This one takes us back to ancient Egypt to discover what is wrong with the fabric of time and how Lex is supposed to save it. She meets the maker of the Universe and seeks his guidance and wisdom to figure out her role. While there, she meets Marcus when he is very young on earth and although he doesn’t know she’s his soulmate, he falls in love with her. The romance is one sided for most of the book since she isn’t sure she should bond with him in that time and risk messing up all the things she’s known in her real time. After much angst and discovery they bond again in ancient Egypt.

When Lex returns to the current time, she discovers they are fighting to save time on two fronts and the action moves quickly. This one leaves you on a cliffhanger about whether they will be able to save the Universe, but no cliffhanger on the romance front.

Overall Series.

These three books give you a romance through the ages of two people, but makes you feel like you’re reading a new romance in each time period. There is now stronger wish for love than for you to survive with your soulmate forever and somehow Lindsey shows us how that would look. I would say this is a cross between Highlander and 50 First Dates. The world building is phenomenal because she establishes the world in several periods of time and all the strange happenings in book one are sewn up by the end of book three. There were even threads I completely forgot about that she wove right back into the story. This is probably one of the strongest series I’ve read to have left you with nothing out of place or forgotten.

Because of the world building, the lack of holes in the story and the depth and variation of the romance theme I’m giving this 5 of 5 and it will be on my Top 10 List for 2021. I think it’s time to dive into the Kat Dubois Chronicles to find out what happens to Lex’s half sister…

I'm not really sure about this one. I mean, overall, I did enjoy it, but I found myself bored at times. The pacing was off and there was a lot of information that didn't really seem relevant to the story. There were times when a lot was going on, and yet, nothing was going on at the same time. If that makes any sense.

I also found myself very confused when it came to the details about time travel, the ba, sheut, and the At fiasco. It was all over the place for me. I mean, I THINK I understand it, but that is definitely not a confident declaration. And if I do in fact understand it, it's only because I had to re-read certain sections multiple times to fully grasp what the heck I just read.

Even though I enjoyed it overall, I'm sad to say that I feel I lost interest along the way. The thing that kept me interested was the idea of time travel and getting a bigger taste of the Egyptian culture. But I don't really feel a connection to Lex or Marcus or their story anymore. I loved the idea, along with the mythology and culture of Egypt, but the overall plot just kind of went downhill for me. So, for now, I will skip book 3. I might come back one day to see how it ends, but as of right now, I think I will leave this story alone and move on.

The Echo Trilogy gets better with each book. We get to experience time travel, Egyptians mythology, romance, mystery and suspense rolled into one magnificent series. Echo is a beautifully written story that I cannot seem to put down.
I am amazed with the level of detail and the complexity of the story and the fascinating world Fairleigh has created.
Time Anomaly is centered around Lex and Marcus again, but the supporting cast of characters is amazing. A good portion of the book takes place 4,000 years in the past, in old Egypt. It was captivating and I was delighted the way the story wove the past and present together.
I was concerned that I’d miss Marcus, but that was not the case. I was so much fun to read about Heru (Marcus) and see how he was when he was much younger and how he has changed yet in many ways the same.
Lex’ powers grow throughout this book and we watch her learn to accept what must be done. Many secrets are revealed, and lots of twists along the way. I enjoyed not knowing what was coming next.
I can’t wait to see what happens next. The ending was great and leads me to believe the best is yet to come.
Three cheers for “Time Anomaly”!!!!

I absolutely loved this, I knew I would after all the world dressing in the first book and I was really not disappointed because this was absolutely WILD. Who knew I was into time travel books? Because I honestly had no idea, but I was so hooked on this.

I'm so glad Lex goes back to ancient times, I wasn't bored, the plot was just so interwoven and I feel like I did not even see things coming, which as a thriller reader I often find it quite hard to surprise me, but LF seriously got me in the feels in this one.

The characters are also just so lovely in this, just some real amazing big hitters, I was such a fangirl for Nuin and I'm pretty sure I shed a lil tear when Lex realises who he is. However, the reason for my 4/5 stars is just because the ending was just like really unsatisfying? All this amazing plot building, world building and then just this rushed ending, like it wasn't bad, but after the tearjerking relationship with Nuin and these beautiful characters like Aset, I just didn't really feel anything at the end, and I really wanted to! I wanted my tearful moment because it was all set up perfectly.

Gotta go with one star I'm afraid as I couldn't be bothered to actually finish it! I started this trilogy as I'd loved the Kat Dubois series, but was really disappointed with this. The first book was slow and tedious, but I stuck with it expecting it to pick up for book two, well it didn't ... It's just talk, talk, talk. The same tired back and forth between the two main characters, neither of which are at all interesting. It's a great idea, but just poorly done. I'd say the idea is taken on into the Kat Dubois series where it's much much better, fast paced and good characters. I also found the fact that Lex is an egyptologist who actually travels back to ancient Egypt and instead of exploring and really experiencing what's around her, she juat spends the time moping around about a bloke ridiculous! I got about half way and gave up, won't be finishing the series!

Lex and Marcus continued their relationship with a side trip a few millennia in the past as Lex learned more about her powers and her destiny . I can't begin to describe the amazing journey the author sends the reader on as the present is immediately turned into an ancient Egyptian civilization. Being immersed in this archaic culture is truly a unique experience and enriches Lex's modern, independent mindset. I was bowled over by the many sinister plots and constant assaults on Lex and the people she cared about most. Even though the adrenaline levels were maxed out in this story, Marcus and Lex's devotion for each other stole the show. Thier tender comments and actions were the best parts of this tale and extremely unforgettable. I am so glad that I did not miss this adventure and can't wait for more. Thanks for such an amazing story!!!!!

I definitely enjoyed the first book in the series way more. I felt the characters were interesting and sufficiently developed, the plot was well thought out and fast paced, the mythology and magical aspect added a fun dynamic to the story. This second book was just bland by comparison.
The characters were already established, the world building was complete, and when that’s the case the plot needs to be so good that the reader doesn’t have time to focus on how repetitive it all seems. The plot, however, was very mediocre. There weren’t that many interesting twists, the action was few and far between, the timeline thing was extremely confusing, and overall the story dragged on for longer than it needed to.
I will be finishing the series because I feel like I’m in too deep now but this book definitely disappointed in many ways.
