Time. It can be our best friend. Or our worst enemy...
For Lex, it’s both.
Alexandra Larson is done with time travel. She just wants to be normal. The husband, the kids, the career...she wants it all. And she’s close to having it. That is, until unwanted visitors bring dire news of her twisted, godly foe, Apep. He’s been freed from his inescapable prison by the Kin, and he’s coming for Lex and her unborn children.
The chase begins. Against her will, Lex is yanked backwards in time in an attempt to protect her from Apep. Each time her ancient enemy draws near, she’s pulled back further, tangling new threads into a timeline that must not be changed at any cost. The fate of the universe may depend on her surviving, but it doesn’t give a damn about her finding a way home.
Lex must battle time, itself, to return to her family, and she’s determined to do it. Or die trying.

Lindsey is a bestselling Science Fiction and Fantasy author who lives her life with one foot in a book—so long as that book transports her to a magical world or bends the rules of science. Her novels, from Science Fiction Adventure to Time Travel Romance, always offer a hearty dose of unreality, along with plenty of history, mystery, adventure, and romance.
When she's not working on her next novel, Lindsey spends her time hanging out with her two little boys, working in her garden, or playing board games with her husband. She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her family and their small pack of cats and dogs.
Oh... what a let down... I loved the first two book and maybe that's why I felt left down here.
The story got confused, Lex became a whiny insecure girl all the time needing reassurance.
Marcus was non-existent...
Things got very muddy with all the jumping Lex is doing, meeting (or re-meeting) people who were mentioned in the previous books... to me all this seemed like tying loose end in order to make the ending fit.
Not well done at all!
And the ending? So anticlimatic and so hinting to future books...
Anything with Lex was painfully 3-4 stars, the whole other story 1-2 stars.
So this series has been really good but this last book REALLY put the heroine through the ringer. Since it is technically a romance so a HEA is a given but Lex's has been hard earned by HER along with Aset and Nik. . The best part is how you see Heru in different lights - maybe she is just lucky when she happens upon him but he seems more mellow and kind, less obsessed with power than the ancient Egyptian or modern day version. It is sweet how they fall in love over and over, it is just horrifying a pregnant Lex is being put through it. I guess the worse part for me One of the most painful HEAs I've read.
The 1-2 star part - WTF about the whole side story, almost half the book about Kat. I mean I'd like to learn about her LATER not when I'm hanging on a cliff about Lex's dramatic journey. Save it for another book. I went back and the description doesn't even MENTION Kat who takes up half the story. I ended up skimming it... I know there is a spin-off where I will be able to focus on Kat. I hope Lex or her kids get to take up half of one of her books.
Read this awhile ago, so I can't remember too much of the smaller details, but my overall opinion that I definitely do remember is that the heroine deserved WAY better than the hero. Although I did like him sometimes and I liked his overall character, I didn't like him for the heroine. She was constantly sacrificing things for the plot and for the hero, and I felt like he honestly didn't do anything to deserve her or himself worthy of the title of hero.
At one point, even though they really liked each other and were pretty much super close to being together together, he found out who she was, freaked out and slept with someone else. It was then thrown in her face until she did this mate thing or whatever it was with him, this was right after she found out he had still been sleeping with other people, and it basically ties them together.
Then when she goes back in time, it is constantly thrown in her face the women he slept with, and she even made friends with one of the ones he was still sleeping with and had kids with, who she then takes care of. I think what made me extra mad was we then find out they had been tied together already from that time, but their memories were gone, meaning hundreds of years and thousands of women he slept with, when the whole time they were already soul mates and had already fallen in love with each other. Even if he forgot her, he still should have felt SOMETHING instead of continuing on his manwhore ways.
Then later on, she has his babies, but can't get back to the present to raise them, but can only send the babies away, because she is injured and almost died. So not only does she have to go through and see the hero's past, but when she comes back she is pretty much in a coma and couldn't raise her twins till they were way older, and when she finally wakes up, they announce they are leaving and who knows when she would be able to see them again. And the hero and everyone around I felt like disregarded her feelings way too much and the hero was always so indifferent about what she was going through or the dangers she faced, and yet her life was surrounded by him. Even their kids together I felt like he cared for less than his many previous kids. He definitely didn't deserve her at all. She put way too much into him when he wasn't even that great.
There were some things I did like, that even though the romance sucked, i still gave this series a 3 star. The world building was great, and I thought it had such a unique plot. There were some awesome side characters, and I really liked the heroine besides her being too forgiving towards the hero. She also wasn't a virgin thankfully. I liked how their relationship so progressed until the whole him sleeping with other people stint. I can't remember names, but I kind of wanted her to end up with the guy who was always time traveling and watching over her, now he's hero material for sure.
Overall a decent series, but would have been better minus the hero. I'm not too sure I would recommend, maybe if you like more mythology and stuff like that. I may or may not read this author in the future.

3.5 - Mixed feelings... Lex undergoes unbelievably difficult situations, but she stays as strong as possible. Marcus/Heru past is seen a bit. The story focuses on Lex and alternately Kim. It was a solid 5 star up until about 80% and then it slowly lost focus. It became more about the next spin off series and less on Lex and Marcus. It was rushed and unsatisfactory.
Note: Chapters 21, 37 & 38 have difficult and traumatic (and at times gross) situations.
Definitely on my Top 10 list for 2021. This series is gripping and had me on the edge of my seat for three books on audio. Just when I thought I knew where she was going, she’d throw another curveball in the mix and bam you were right back at square on. Also, the romance was moving through all three books. That is hard to do, but somehow she made their struggles to get to one another fraught with anxiety, sadness, and love. Each book was truly unique in its own right and the romance was almost like they were starting over in each book.
Book 1: Echo in Time
I was in love from the first 20 or so minutes. The narrator is great to listen to and the story was fast paced. Lex is just your typical doctoral student trying to get her first Egyptian dig and figure out her place in the world. Her family is super supportive although she has a rough relationship with her sister. Turns out they were both artificial inseminations which is the beginning of how Lex becomes this seeking person trying to discover who she really is. Then the dreams begin and she can’t figure those out either because it’s as if she’s seeing the future. Just when she thinks she’s losing her mind, she discovers she’s part of this secret race of super humans. Oh, and did I mention she meets her soul mate?
The romance seems forbidden because Lex thinks he’s her professor and off limits. Turns out he’s just playing at being a professor, but is really a leader of the world few know about and has been around for millennia. The story is fast paced and we see Lex struggle with accepting who she is and what her role in the universe will be. There is a lot of mystery about her birth father and who is trying to take down the fabric of time. The mystery only begins in this book, but somethings come to conclusion in this first book that make you wonder what the next book will be about. The angst she develops around Lex and Marcus comes to a head towards the end and they realize they are meant to be together. After that the team is in separable, only by time.
Book 2. Time Anomaly
This one takes us back to ancient Egypt to discover what is wrong with the fabric of time and how Lex is supposed to save it. She meets the maker of the Universe and seeks his guidance and wisdom to figure out her role. While there, she meets Marcus when he is very young on earth and although he doesn’t know she’s his soulmate, he falls in love with her. The romance is one sided for most of the book since she isn’t sure she should bond with him in that time and risk messing up all the things she’s known in her real time. After much angst and discovery they bond again in ancient Egypt.
When Lex returns to the current time, she discovers they are fighting to save time on two fronts and the action moves quickly. This one leaves you on a cliffhanger about whether they will be able to save the Universe, but no cliffhanger on the romance front.
Book 3. Ricochet Through Time
This book gets more complicated because it is about a mother trying her hardest to care of her children. As Lex bounces further and further back in time, she has several chances to meet and reestablish a relationship with Marcus and each time he is always just as smitten with her as the previous even though he has no memories of Lex. She wins his heart in various ways and you actually see their love progress through the Millennia under different circumstances.
When Lex finally gets back home it is to a changed world where the fabric of time isn’t whole, but is healing. Her children are the reason for that and although she misses much of their lives, she is still a mother through it all trying her hardest to return them against all odds. We do get some parts of a Happily Every After, but not everything is sewn up tight. She leaves us a few wholes with characters and the fabric of time to worry about when the last words are read by the narrator.
Overall Series.
These three books give you a romance through the ages of two people, but makes you feel like you’re reading a new romance in each time period. There is now stronger wish for love than for you to survive with your soulmate forever and somehow Lindsey shows us how that would look. I would say this is a cross between Highlander and 50 First Dates. The world building is phenomenal because she establishes the world in several periods of time and all the strange happenings in book one are sewn up by the end of book three. There were even threads I completely forgot about that she wove right back into the story. This is probably one of the strongest series I’ve read to have left you with nothing out of place or forgotten.
Because of the world building, the lack of holes in the story and the depth and variation of the romance theme I’m giving this 5 of 5 and it will be on my Top 10 List for 2021. I think it’s time to dive into the Kat Dubois Chronicles to find out what happens to Lex’s half sister…
I was an ARC reader for this book and I loved it !!! It was a little slow going at first but I got through the first few chapters and from there on out it was the awesome writting I've come to expect from this AMAZING Author !!! Pick yours up today and I'll be patiently awaiting Ink Witch :-) good reading
Not gunna lie, I’m a bit disappointed in how the story went. Mostly I just feel so bad for Lex. Girl has been through it—constantly being stuck time traveling while Marcus & Co just sits and waits for her to make it back.
Cause what do you mean she had to spend her whole pregnancy away from home, on the run traveling?? With twins???
And WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE HAD TO GIVE BIRTH ALONE??? With twins?? AND THEN THEY JUST DISAPPEARED?
AND THEN SHE ALMOST DIED GETTING BACK HOME THE LONG WAY?? AND MISSED TARSET AND HER TEINS GROWING UP?
AND HER GRANDMA DIED RIGHT AFTER SHE LEFT?
Can we please not give all the trauma to one character 😭
I’m so mad. I was hoping when she was in the past and was having issues getting back that Nick would freeze her like a statue like they did to Tarset and then they could just unfreeze her right after the babies showed up. Like i couldve sworn in book 2 a statue of Lex in the oasis cavern thing existed?? So i thought thats where that plot was going.
Also WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE TWINS JUST YEETED RA OUT OF NICK AND THEN NICK JUST LEAVES??? HE DOESNT SAY BYE TO ANYONE??
I know he went through so much BUT SO DID HIS MOM AND HE JUST LEFT WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING OR CHECKING ON LEX?
And the twins just leave???? What the heck.
The whole Kin storyline was a bit of a let down. And the whole anti-At thing just turned out to not be important?? Like oh yeah it exists but since Mary isn’t really evil the anti-at doesn’t really serve any purpose except binding Apep.
I guess the twins gift to Lexs family was nice. That was like the bare minimum anyone could’ve offered her after all her trauma.
AND NOT MARCUS BEGGING FOR ANOTHER CHILD WHEN SHES BARELY A MONTH (for her) AFTER BIRTH?? Diabolical. He felt like such a side piece in books 2 and 3. Mans really did nothing at all except exist while Lex saved the world over and over

I have to say I really enjoyed this trilogy. I really didn't know what I was getting into when I picked it up, but the characters are lovely with a compelling story. What I really enjoyed the most is that
I also enjoyed how there were a lot of historical references that were weaved throughout the series, but it wasn't overwhelming. It didn't feel like you needed to be an expert in Egyptian mythology to enjoy it. I thought it was pretty clever that it was basically a modern retelling of the Egyptian myths, and in general, Fairleigh's writing feels very modern. I guess because I am similar in age to Lex, I feel it is easy to relate to her as a character, and I rather enjoyed her throughout all three books. I like Kat too, but I do say I definitely prefer Lex. I will be looking into Kat's spin-off series either way, though!
My love for Egyptian Mythology and the supernatural time travel with mystery, romance, all wrapped up , this is how it started for me, when I found The Echo Trilogy by Lindsey Fairleigh. Alexandra always wanted a normal life but that wasn't her destiny. Little did she knew she wasn't even human but Nejerette and the Meswett(Ancient Egyptian...for "girl-child")told by Nuin, either savior or destroyer of the Nejerets(Gods of Time). Being one of the main characters, Alexandra Larson Ivanov now pregnant with twins who sensing danger from Apep, pulls Lex further back in time to a more safer place until the time of their birth. It is a emotional roller-coaster ride for the reader to feel Lex's experiences through Ms. Fairleigh's writings. l felt Lex's exhaustion, her thirst, hunger, the headaches from the bonding withdrawals and the want vs need she had to weigh in order to make a decision that could/or not unravel the threads of time and the existence of the universe completely. Full surprises, twists, wonder, and Ah-ha. Will she find her way back to her native time, safely give birth to the true saviors (the twins)and back with Marcus/Heru?????Lindsey Fairleigh
WOW!I was an ARC reader for this book. It is not usually the subject matter or genre I like to read but have followed this Author for some time now. I was pleasantly surprised. It is a complex story dealing with some ancient Deities from Egyptian history and time travel. What's not to like. It was very well written and it picks up right where book 2 left off Lex is pregnant with Marcus's twin Uber gods one male one female. She is looking for a safe place in time to give birth, the "Twins" are important to restore balance.Apep wants to destroy them before they are born. Kat is hell bent on destroying the Kin and those who killed her mother. After going over her mother's info on the Kin, with her brother Dom and Nik and Re who inhabits Nik's consciousness with him.She sets out training and coming up with a plan. Your perceived enemy is not necessarily out to get you ,which was the case with Kat & Marie. Misinformation on both the ladies part. It is fast paced and an unbelievable world to get lost in for a while. Pick up your copy.I truly enjoyed this book.
If disappointment had another name it would be this book. Just wow, what a mess the author made.
Kat has 6 books in her own series, we did not need more of her here. We needed Lex and Marcus and their kids and anybody else but Kat. All of her development should have stayed in her books.
I hated how it ended. So Lez is just going to have more kids to make up for losing time with the twins?
I feel like this entire series was a lie. In the first book synopses, I was promised romance but I think I got, what, 30% romance and 70% plot? Why did she have to keep traveling back when the treat was neutralized in the future? If her babies were all-powerful they would know that, so why not just move the story foward?
I am so frustrated. If you read this, don't expect a lot of romance. This is a fantasy with a little bit of romance.
Once you start this journey into Lex's life it is quite hard to put the book down. I read this book straight through in less than 24 hours time with just a brief stop for a memorial dinner. In that brief stop, as I reflected on the life of my step Dad, I couldn't help but wonder if we all are reflections of time long ago, time just past, present time and time yet conceived. Could it be we lived long ago when Heru, Set and Nuin first came to be yet we don't remember our first state of being? Perhaps someday all will come full circle for us as it has for Lex and Marcus. I look forward to reading Kay's journey. Perhaps more thought provoking inner dialogue will occur. Enjoy.
”Ricochet Through Time - An Egyptian Mythology Paranormal Romance Echo Trilogy Book 3” By Lindsey Sparks Is A Tale Of Alexandra Larson and husband Marcus & her yet unborn twins...back in her own timeline...yet again she & her unborn are in danger ...and again she is forced to flee back into time ...further and further she & her unborn are flung into time...chased by an unrelenting god-like entity determined to kill her & her unborn twins & the future of the universe. Can she ever return home ?!? Will her children be born?!? Will she ever see Marcus again?!? Read and see. Much enjoyed and Highly Recommended
90% of this book was fantastic! I was thrilled with how the series was wrapping up and the suspense of Lex’s time travel was incredibly exciting. Loose ends from the first few books were being tied up and everything was starting to make sense. And then the unthinkable. A horrible ending. Anticlimactic and rushed. I’m very disappointed with the ending of this series. It left me wanting so much more. The series overall is worth reading. It’s quite original and held my attention all the way through.
This is the best way to describe my feelings for the end of Marcus and Lex's story. I am not sure why there was so much of Kat's story other than to set up for the next series, which I am in no way interested in. I dislike her enough to find myself skimming her parts, because i didn't care. The problem was that pretty much nothing happened of value in the rest of the story. The ending of this seemed rushed and so far off from where things started that it didn't seem to fit. In my opinion, there's not much to like about this one.
3.5 stars I really liked the first 2 books in the series. I listened to all 3 books in less than 2 weeks. So I was with the author and enjoying her tying everything together and I didn't mind Kat's intro but then we get to the ending and the author completely lost me. Not a fan. Hoping Kat's books have a better story arc.
What a let down. The rest of the books were excellent. But this one, half way through all the rules were thrown out the window to get the conclusion that was required. I have to say, I didn't like the ending in almost any way.
I really enjoyed this series of books! The "Echo" Universe is a wonderful place to visit. I'm glad that you are continuing the universe with Kat's story.
I have mixed feelings about the ending of this series, I feel like Lex went through all of that and then never got to truly benefit and heal from the experiences she went through, she never got to see her babies grow up.... never got to help take down the enemy and rebuild afterwards... maybe it's because I didn't connect as well with Kat and I'm torn about whether to continue on with her series but overall I loved how everything was tied in and we got to see how all of the pieces of the puzzle fit together and that's what makes it a 5 star read for me but I feel we could very much have focused more on Lex and Marcus..... while I get the feeling that the twins relationship with Marcus was OK in the end I still feel that there would have been a lot of resentment there on Marcus' part for how it all went down... and to then make her miss 16 years.... it just seems so unfair and unnecessary 😒
I still have questions which I know I'm going to have to read Kat's series to probably find the answers for but right now I just don't feel that it will live up to this original trilogy for me as I don't really care for Kat all that much....

I really liked the concept of this entire series; time travelling, super natural powers, politics, history & romance, but I found this book incredibly unsatisfying to read.
It jumps between Lex’s & Kat’s POV, similar to book 2, but I didn’t really see the relevance of doing so. I assume it’s to set up for the “Ink Witch Chronicles” - Kat’s Spin-off series. But why ruin the last book in a trilogy doing so?
I didn’t mind the time jumping, but I would have enjoyed more substance, relationship & character development to go along with it.
The ending was incredibly disappointing. Not only were storylines left open, but after all Lex went through, I didn’t feel like it was a HEA.. more like some sort of consolation prize.
The irony is, I actually started the Ink Witch chronicles before I read the Trilogy. After reading the first book, I realised that I needed to read the trilogy for the back story, because unfortunately the new series is incredibly dependant on the reader already knowing the characters.
It’s a shame that the author couldn’t have just written the trilogy and spin-off series more independently.
I don’t think I’ve ever been as disappointed in a final installment of a series as I was in this book. The plot stumbles from one thing to the next and then falls flat in a rushed, anticlimactic, and throughly unsatisfying. Half the book is about Kat, which sucks energy from the plot thread where Lex is the Meswett. Meanwhile, the author tosses Lex into a back and forth timeline where she is punted without choice or explanation from one place to the next. She has no agency. I really loved Lex’s character, and feel like the author stole her chance to reach her full potential. (Which is the origin of such deep disappointment—when an author creates a strong, compelling character who a reader wants to see kick butt and save the universe, it’s a major letdown when the character ends up just being a tool to reach a conclusion.)
I’m usually sad when a series ends because I’ll miss the characters and their world. This time, I’m just bummed that a series that started off so strong didn’t get the ending it deserved.
Two stars instead of one because I still love Lex and Marcus and really wish this book had been about them instead of… whatever it was about.
Lex's time spent away from Marcus, the love of her life and her bond mate, are extensive and discouraging and the return journey before her appears to be much more than she can manage. However, her clever mind and a little unexpected spiritual help come to her rescue when she needs it most and is losing all hope of every returning home. This final episode in the "Echo Trilogy" raced across the pages in a whirlwind of emotions, conspiracies, and imminent dangers. There was, of course, the occasional surprise thrown in for interest and shock value. So much happens in this last story, that it is questionable if Lex will ever return to her family and the safety of her home. I was really drawn into this storyline and the numerous characters that struggled through horrendous adversity. The tremendous amount of sadness in this story left me feeling subdued but hopeful that the lives of all the unfortunate characters would be restored. Extraordinary Tale!!!!!
With the ending of this trilogy, Lex has solidified in my head as the lead fictional character of strong female heros. Why, you might ask? Well, recently, a lot of series/books focus on having a happy ending that sometimes they bend the rules so that the character in the end will have everything they wanted as a "reward".
While that's gives a satisfaction to a reader, it's good to know that book characters sometimes don't get the perfect ending the way they envisioned it and that can be realistic for all us readers too.
Lex here had an unfortunate adventure, where she came to be from a nobody human to a very powerful paranormal hero. The ending, while it wasn't as good as I'd hoped for her it made sense. It was realistic - life doesn't offer fairy tale endings like this. I loved it.
I wanted more! This series is fantastic, and the title of this book is perfect: Lex ricocheting through time and with no control of her own! The danger and anxiety is palpable and you can really understand the impact of all this on Lex herself. It was a race for life itself, for Lex and her unborn babies. However, as I hinted in the title, I wanted so much more from this last book. It wasn't that it disappointed me, I still give it 5 stars, but I was left wanting more, needing to know more about the roles Lex's children play within the last segment of the book. I also missed Marcus, I guess this makes us sympathize with Lex even more so, but I would have liked a few chapters from Marcus' POV maybe. Or from his present from Kat's POV. In any case, a fabulous trilogy. Don't skip over this one! I am hoping that there is going to be another series available depicting Lex's and Marcus' children.
At first I was uncertain if this series was magical, sci-fi, or paranormal. By the 2nd book it was clear they were time travel romance. The 2nd and 3rd books were boy and girl are separated and meet and fall in love over and over again. It did get a bit repetitive as that encompasses 756 pages. I did enjoy the trilogy and may continue it with the Kat Chronicles. I do think that a race of immortals that have to procreate with human women would not stay secret for centuries. Also the 'power'to see the past is a pretty lame power. Not all of them can see into the future and very few can do any more than that. The men can't stay around to raise their kids because they don't age, but the kids do and the women can't have kids and none in the books married mortals so it seems like a sad life living thousands of years alone.
This whole trilogy started with a very interesting concept that was poorly executed; characters were juvenile and unrealistic (even for fantastical people) and the “complex layers” of plot were really just unnecessarily convoluted. Also, while I love a good ~soulmate through time and space~ story, the main romantic relationship severely lacked depth.
Oh! And having half of the book be from Kay’s POV in a book detailing the story of Lex and her nuclear family was annoying.
Despite this, the writing was engaging enough to keep me reading to the end; so do with that information what you will.
