We return for the seventh installment of the Lion and the Mouse. As Kazimir and Emily battle a great war in Italy, dark secrets rise that could either shatter this couple or strengthen their bond even more. Dark and deeply erotic, this high-octane installment will take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride of deadly twists and psychological turns.
An interracial russian mafia romance (the lion and the mouse book 7) (the lion and mouse series)
Kenya Wright wrote her first novel during her third year at UM Law school. She dropped out a month after the release and never looked back.
Words are power, and Kenya wants to be the greatest wizard that ever lived.
It's an audacity to inspire and teach the healing of love through arousal.
It's this crazy idea that love can not only help a reader escape, but the story can also teach the person about being human, while making them laugh, cry, and hot for more sex.
Well, as a lover of all things Kaz and Em, this book reveals more of their stories, and new twists I didn't even see coming, and I usually figure things about before they are revealed. I won't spoil it for others, but we learn so much more, and I can't wait to see how Em brings herself together. Love how Kaz is evolving, yet at times he can't help but be his true self. I find it makes him even more loveable.
And, on the love triangle... I'm hard-core team King David! He's my kind of Alpha, plus the personal jewelry is too much to pass up. Lol.
I got bored! Never thought I’d say that with a Kenya Wright book but especially with this series. After waiting awhile for this installment, I think too much time passed and I’ve sort of lost interest in Emily and Kaz and that’s probably because this book was too focused on Blue and her love triangle. I wasn’t really interested in her story at all. This was just too convoluted and long for me.
Dirty War was an awesome read and long but I enjoyed reading every minute of it!! This book was action packed with great characters. I felt like I was watching a movie. Well done Kenya Wright I loved the story. I recommend you read this book. I received an ARC for my honest opinion.
“…and then the lion met the mouse” honestly Kenya the series could’ve ended with this epilogue but I’m glad there is more to come for this couple and all their family! This was so good I had to write a review.
This entire series has been such a fun and amazing adventure from Lion and the Mouse to Misha, Max and Valentina, now this new triangle of David (team king David) Blue and Giorgio…and we can’t forget that the French have provided us with amazing stories as well, still waiting for Rafael’s HEA! This series is so beautifully intertwined. If anyone hasn’t read, you are truly missing out on such a masterfully written journey!
Whew….. BRAVA BRAVA BRAVA…. Couldn’t put the book down… I will say that I was nervous about the whole dark Emily concept but I was pleasantly surprised and I have embraced LUNITA!!! I can honestly say that I wouldn’t mind seeing more of her🫢🫣😂… but truly I enjoyed this book from start to finish… I can’t wait to see more of all these characters that I love!!!
I loved it! I was laughing so hard with this one. Kazimir is funny AF. I'm enjoying getting new POVs, like Blue's. I can't wait until they go to New Orleans. Boris, like WTF? I guess I should've known something was coming after him and Maxwell were in New Orleans with the damn Butcher. The chess pieces are moving all over the board! I can't wait!
This has been my game of thrones, I love these characters, it's not easy to world build but this author has done it brilliantly. I wish this series could go on forever because I love the lion & the mouse. I loved the action & humor. Maxwell & Kaz are hilarious together. There's portions of this book that read like Emily was a martyr & everyone lives revolve around her & everybody was in love with her, that was cringe, I personally just don't like storylines like that. Everyone treating her like the second coming of christ made me roll my eyes. The butcher left his pregnant wife at home because of his devotion to Emily was ridiculous. Boris is in love with her & Blue worships her. She was fela focus, baba loves her & Paolo loves her like shes his mama. Valentina adores her. The author oversold it to the point it became a bit silly. I get that Kaz loves her & although maxwell devotion was over the top at times, it made sense given their upbringing. I have liked King David, Giorgio & Blue individually since they were introduced. That thing between the three of them fell flat to me. It only would have been more interesting if this was a poly romance, the author teased that possibility but ultimately it was the tired alpha males fighting over her also here's another instance where the unwavering devotion made no sense. Blue limited interactions with both men didn't warrant them acting like she was their soul mate. This had potential but fizzled quickly. Unless they get their own book, I don't get what the author was trying to do with them. I'm sure many readers thought she would either choose one or they would be in a poly relationship. I still enjoyed this series tremendously. It honestly the best underworld romance starring a black woman I've ever read. Emily is interesting instead of being a boring damsel, that's the mistake a lot of bw authors make in these stories.
I absolutely love The Lion and The Mouse Series and the intricate love relationship of Kazimir and Emily. These two are the definition of ride or die and I am here for it. This book hit differently as it is a story within a story. A fair chunk focused on Blue's love triangle which at times was interesting to say the least but I found her naivety and the back and forth exasperating. For me that was hard to get through. These two men (David & Giorgio) are not to be trifled with. I am 100% team David. I loved his character from the beginning and the beautiful close-knit relationship he has with his grandmother (Baba). My biggest disappointment was the ending as it seemed rushed. This is a 960 page novel with 98% of the narrative taking place in Italy focusing on the war with Fela and Black Axe. Their return to Moscow and the birth of Kaz and Emily's son was relegated to a mere 2%. Overall I enjoyed "most" of this book. I love Ms Kenya and I am a huge fan but I felt that the constant pivoting to Blue's love triangle detracted from the storyline and the condensed ending fell short for me.
this book just ate soooo bad, at first i thought the number of pages was gonna intimidate me and make me not get through it but that was not the case at awlllll. it was really good to me honestly, like if this is isn’t the final book, i honestly cannot wait to read the next book and the bonus chapters. lastly i need blue to get a personal book or just more chapters of her pov in the next book. i need to see how she navigates between giorgio and david and i just really like her character a lot! but hopefully they don’t turn into a thruple omg that would not work😭
I agree with a lot of other rating. To much Blue , she should have had her own book. And most of the questions that were brought up weren't answered. I for one am not interested in a3 some with Blue....IJS!!
DAMN YOU KENYA! THIS WAS INCREDIBLE!!! IM SPEECHLESS. IM HAPPY. I NEED 10 MORE BOOKS! Stepping back into this world after binging the series last year and loving it, it’s really crazy how easy it was. This crew feels like a family to me. I love them so much. I will always be excited for more Emily+Kaz and co. I was kept on my toes the entire time, beginning to end! That’s how it is when you rolling with the lion and the mouse 🤧 I know Max is the joker but Kaz had me laughing NONSTOP. His interactions and thoughts are gold. It was either him, Max, or Giorgio that kept me cackling. They are hilarious.
The storytelling was just amazing. From digging deeper into Emily’s trauma, which was so haunting and painful and intense —-to finding out how deep the trauma ran for Max also and his own mental health issues——to Kaz and Em navigating their relationship through that and their own individual pain….I just……it was perfection. The romance was perfection. Top 5 favorite couple of all time.
Everyone’s developing friendships also took a spotlight, which I loved. Everyone was being badass per usual. No one is ever lacking in this crew. Fela messed with the wrong one, or maybe he just got the right one.
Now on to Blue…. I’m usually the one rooting HARD for 3somes, 5somes etc and I found it so fun how the whole thing was handled in this book because Blue is so naive😂 but I would want the same! I was going back and forth between the guys just enjoying the ride. I love both and I want them both happy but ……..Giorgio snatched my heart. Yep, I’ve switched sides😭 He woo’d tf outta me. Just like he said, that intense, hot ass fight between him and blue some books ago LIT A SPARK. They bounce so well off of each other. It’s entertaining. I just felt so much romance between them. Like star crossed lovers. Romeo and Juliet if you will. You can’t put a damaged, insane, beautiful man willing to say fuck it to everything and already professing his obsessive love and think I’m not gonna become enamored. I’m a simple woman. Add in the fact that he has the best punishments😉 I’m obsessed. I feel like Blue and David want each other but I don’t feel like it’s anything more than that. Sorry, Kaz. Team Giorgio! (P.s. I’m still down for the 3some!)
This is one of the best series I’ve ever read. I feel like there’s still so much story to tell for these characters because they keep growing. I don’t want to ever say goodbye to this family. ♥️
WOW I really love Lion and Mouse series! This is so awesome and if you’re into stories that take you on a roller coaster of emotions, then Lion and Mouse is one you will love. It had me laughing out loud the entire story, it also brought tears to my eyes and had me gripping my heart from the violence. Kenya Wright has the ability to weave awesome storylines into her stories, she creates such emotional depth that I absolutely enjoyed. This story takes her amazing storytelling to the next level with Kazimiz and Emily and their people they call family. In this journey they travel to Italy. Not only is this their story but other characters too. Now there are lots of surprises with more enemies. This is a romance that becomes complicated with family and drama. The story has witty, messy, complicated women that you want to be friends with. It's one I greedily binged on. Emily and Kazimir life is full of chaos. Emily has problem that everyone would like to solve. But Max whom she considers her brother has always known, he remembers but wouldn't give it a name but Kazimiz does; and she starts to remember the girl, too, and now she needs to get help. This romance quickly becomes so much more. This is a story about what a scary but worthwhile risk love is, no matter the form. It also has insights about a lot of things. That includes friendship, motherhood, the unbearable cruelty of people. I could tell you so much more but instead I’ll tell you that I absolutely loved every moment of this endearing, charming romance which didn't want Dirty Wars to end. But it also made me so excited to read the next story . I highly recommend this story and the entire series!!!
“.as long as you get someone who will dance with you in a thunderstorm, life will be okay.”
The lion and the mouse have weathered many storms together and have more to come. Their bond is unbreakable in the midst of chaos and moments of peace. This book was a mixed bag of crazy and a blood bath.
Kaz - “She was my soul. My angel. My light in the darkness of this criminal world. The treasure beyond value some men spent their lives searching for, but seldom found. She was my salvation. My blessing. The part of my heart that had been missing—the part that I hadn’t known had been lost to me.” Mysh - “Next to him, I would not perish. Power radiated off of him. Together, we would survive everything and more, no matter the challenge, the enemy, or even the magnitude of the war.”
I laughed a lot and Maxwell is my favorite after reading all of the books because he is funny and crazy as hell. I teared up with the new bonds forming for Kaz and the changes he has made. I was shocked by Emily’s alter situation and the revelations that came with it. Blues love triangle is a hot mess and still has me wondering who will get her heart. The French are full of surprises and loyalty. The Harlem Crew is a force to be reckoned with and also trusted. I enjoyed this book immensely even though it had times of darkness and moodiness. There were many moments when the light shined through figuratively and literally (Kaz freaked!) I can’t wait for the next installment. Fantastic read!
If you're going to have a long book, this is how it should look. This is the best installment. My 5 stars don't come easy, even with my favs...but this was a 5 star. I have loved the series, it gets better and better with each installment. It has all the elements of suspense, intrigue, hot sex, hilarity and good writing/character building. I laughed the entire book. Maxwell- love Him!!!!, the Pansies, and Kaz were HILARIOUS!!!! Loved getting a chance to get a better understanding of Emily/Lunita's and Maxwell's relationship and history while seeing them grow without sex being involved. Enjoyed seeing the dynamics of Kaz changing and growing as well. The Blue/King David/Giorgio + dynamic has been refreshing as well...Team David! Love that the book did not rush us, got to see an end this particular chapter that took us places. It didn't feel like a monotonously long book that was long for no reason. I also don't like cliffhangers that have no resolve in some way or cuts off at the climax of the scene. My one con...why has Emily not seen a therapist???? Nor most the other characters with all this deep trauma and money. They do "voodoo witches" and psychics, but not a therapist🤔??? Either way, still can't wait until the next installment.
This is a long book but oh so freaking good to grab a glass of your favorite drink and get ready for wild ride😀.
Soooo much happens in this book that will have you on the edge of your seat. Kaz and Emily have a very dark & heavy situation putting a strain on their relationship as they deal with bringing down their enemies. The experience allows them to evolve, strengthening their connection and love for each other😍🥰😍. I so enjoyed that the French, Misha, Maxwell and the Harlem Crew were all working together to win the war. It wasn’t an easy alliances especially with all the personalities but it worked out and the were some hilarious moments as they interacted with each other that made me feel they were more like a dysfunctional loving family😜👍🏾. There is a love triangle that deserves it’s own book as does another one of Maxwell😊.
Bravo Ms. Kenya Wright, you had me screaming, tearing up, laughing, cursing and felling randy as your words of Kaz and Emily pulled me into their crazy life. I love this couple and the series and can’t wait for the next book❤️.
Dirty Wars is the explosive finale in the Lion and Mouse series. We see everything come full circle as the Kaz and Emily finalize their time in Italy. But nothing is never easy with dark secrets around every corner is the bond between Kazamir and Emily enough. • This book was five starts for me it gave me everything I wanted in a finale book to a mafia romance. The plot twist in this book just make everything form book one come full circle and really gave up a deep look into Emily’s character development from her past trauma to now. Even though it doesn’t seem like it Kaz also had a significant character development by allowing himself to have feelings and become more vulnerable. • I am so sad it’s over I will definitely need a book the Harlem Crew that follows them after this book. Also book on J.P and Eden
Kenya Wright, this was FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could not put this book down. You had so many great characters and action scenes….. this was soo goood!! Maxwell outdid himself in this one, he had me hollering. I laughed out loud so many times at him. And don’t even get me started with Giorgio, that man is crazy!!! But I loved his type of crazy!!! The fight between him and King David, tears, tears I say!!! I laughed so hard at Gio and his germ phobia 😭😭😭😭. Loved JP and Louis, always classy, cool, calm and ready to kill! And don’t get me started with Kaz, he was hilarious as well especially when he caught Blue with her men. I could go on and on about this book because it was that great, truly it was. Now I have to go back in the series to find the beginnings of Blue and Giorgio. Hopefully we get her conclusion wink 😉 😉. Great job Kenya Wright, great job!!!
This was a long book, but I enjoyed every minute. Every bit of it, I listened to the audiobook, and I love the different voices of the characters you really got into it. You can imagine what they were doing each time, the voices, the illustrations we're on point Emily Has the Lion wrapped around her little finger beautiful, but they still get the job done that bonnie and Clyde, lion and mouse thing is working. Blue, Giorgio, and King David are crazy, I can't wait to see what happens between them. They some fools, they need their own book. Maxwell Wow and Emily really made a breakthrough that was beautiful. The lion accepted Paulo, and Emily knows about her Alter Ego, so there's a lot of directions to move in new books. awesome job. Thank you for giving us another great read.
How can one articulate the goodness of the words gathered within the covers of a book? Bish, I can not! There are no eloquent words that could ever describe the places Kenya takes you. The dynamics of society that rings with truth! The emotions that have you crying or laughing! The depth of a love so entranced with violence that makes me wish I could personally feel and taste it! How can I not want more of each character as a friend or family member? To be apart of something greater than me? I know its not a reality...but in my minds eye...Kenya wrote words that I actually feel like I lived! Excited for the next installation of a MUST READ series of the Lion and Mouse, and lil Emilio! Damn Queen, you did it again!!!

Never disappoint! I love the love triangle with Blue , David and Giorgio. I glad we are seeing the softer side of Kaz despite the fierce and blood thirty lion he is. Excited to see how Emily heals and in the long run I feel like Emily is the personality that was made ups sun Lunita is the actual personality!! Max personality and wit always brings a balance to Emily and It’s nice to read the bonding that’s growing between him and Kaz. Getting a peak in to Giorgio past made me want more of his story. The mind of Ms Kenya Wright always keeps me on my toes.
I been WAITING for this for what feels like forever and I loved every second! 24hrs of audio and it’s still not enough 😂
The narration for Maxwell had me cackling at his “motherfuckers”. He needs to work on his urban accent just a tad but it made the comedic relief of Maxwell that much funnier.
I am thrilled there will be another book because I’m obsessed with Emily and Kaz.
Kenya is a true artist when it comes to storytelling. She never disappoints. Other dark romance/romantic suspense authors need to take notes! Respectfully 😊
Blue is like the least interesting person out of all the main characters. Even her pov's were so so until the whole David and Georgio thing. I'm just hopping this next book has less chapters of her, but then I do want to know how this love triangle ends. I guess will see, I had figured out Valentina crazy self was the third person after she wore blue, and Kaz pointed out her not liking the color. Now I think I already know how the real mysa is between Emily and the K side(can't remember how to spell it). Now her comes the waiting game for book 8. 🥴🙄
Favorite Series Solidified! You will not regret the journey of THE LION & THE MOUSE
This book... this series is everything. I wish I had the time to break down how great, intense, and the true magnificence of this entire series is. Ms. Kenya thank you for delivering an amazing book, that I was getting impatient for, but time was needed to write what you did. READ IT! I will just say our Lion and Mouse grow in ways that I didn't imagine but it was forced growth. The book is written very well with thought-out developments and nothing is rushed.
Love this series!!! Ms. Wright you never disappoint and you always bring the emotion on tap. Your are a very skillful storyteller. Your writing style keeps us on edge and thirsty for more! I look forward to the next rendition of what the Mouse and the Lion get up to. I love the graphic action and passionate scenes, the vibrant characters, the plot and sub-plots...I just love everything about how you tell a meaningful story. I highly recommend this series and other writings by you! Keep them coming! Bravo Ms. Wright!!!
What!!! This is surely a tease to more to come from the Lion and the Mouse...this was a long read but thoroughly entertaining from start to finish educational and enlightening, hard to put down( but I had to shower, work, and sleep) lol just rip roaring hilarious with the things going on and the conversations that were had...I couldn't catch my breathe while on the floor rolling with laughter... I know there is more to come I just can't wait!!!👏👍😆😀😃😁😄😅😂😉😏😊😎😍😘💓💗💞💘🙋💃🏾😈
