Even the brightest of stars had a humble beginning as clouds of dust and gas. Along with being majestic, the star is also quite generous with its light. Even the best of the flowers that graces gods was once a small seed in the earth. While holding the most honorable place, the flower is also modest enough to spare its fragrance for everyone around. There is this duality in everything we see around us. The elements of nature, the universe and even phenomenon like love have the quality to be modest and majestic at the same time. The same duality is often reflected in all of us, binding us even closer to the universe and nature than we realize.

‘The Modesty and Majesty of Being’ is a collection of poems that explores this idea through various standpoints. The book is divided into four sections dedicated to the modesty and majesty in us, nature, the universe and love.

About the author

An English educator by profession and a writer by passion, Dhaval Rathod believes that storytelling is a divine art that gives writers an opportunity of touching peoples' hearts, minds and souls. According to him, it is the millions of stories that have lifted the mankind from ground floor to the height of a million storeys.

He has published two books: A Season of Shooting Stars, a collection of poems, and Unleash That River, an anthology of short romantic stories. Another of his short story "The Carpet Connection" is available at Juggernaut Writing Platform for free. He has also written several articles for Rajkot Plus supplement of The Times of India.

Modesty and majesty, two contrasting terms but can co-exist in harmony in nature. Elucidating this idea, the poet takes on his inspiration and has brought to us a collection of beautiful expressions.
The book on the whole is divided into four sections, each balancing the duality mentioned in being, nature, universe and love. Although sectioned, once you finish the book you can easily find the essence of connection between them and how it all connects in the big picture.
The first section being, is my personal favourite, my emotions resonated with quite a few of the poems here and some like ' Women, The Unmistakable Law, Shining Alone, Wildflower' make a strong statement about life!

Favourite from the nature section is 'Cursed Lovers' - a beautiful play on day and night. 'Unbiased' - describing impartiality of nature.

'Ten Twinkling Little Stars' in the universe section reminded me of a bengali poem and I loved the 'Canvas of the Cosmos'.

The last section of love is the one that will probably make you stop, think, relate and go back and on. It has some truly powerful lines! Of falling in love, going aways, pains, gains, fulfilled and unfullfilled love, it has all that can be encompassed.

I find it difficult to usually review poetry books because I tend to flow away. This book I think does solid justice to its title, and one that I will go back to again, for quotable and relatable lines as well as introspection as mentioned.

The books has over 160+ poems and are divided into 4 sections: 1st part deals with an individual their hopes and dreams and experiences.. Although I couldn’t help shake the feeling that author is talking about himself and his raw observations a lot..

Second part deals with Nature which covers anything and everything in nature the condition being that it rhymes. Infact this was the prime focus on all poems ( on rhyming) Tells us about how nature is giving and unbiased in 15000 different ways. Totally unnecessary and tedious in my opinion

Section 3 and 4 had poems about universe and love

Except for couple of poems I didn’t relate to or like any
The language was simple to read but it couldn’t grab my interest at all
I felt the ideas were okay but they needed refinement before getting converted to poem
That way instead of couple hundred verses , we would have 30-40 quality poems that reader would have enjoyed.
Overall, I felt this book has Only rhyming words put together without any deeper thought or meaning

My Views - I do not read this genre that much but every once in a while when I read a book of poems, I fall in love with the words in it. The author needs to have a strong hold on emotions and should be a master of words to pen down those complex thoughts in such a few lines.

This book is also such a read where you want to get immersed in the words. The author has justified every poem in thi book with majestical and powerful words.

Some of my personal favorites are The Unmistakable Law, She, A Dream of Freedom.

So, if you like this genre or if you are someone who likes to explore this genre, you can definitely pick up this one. You won't regret this.

Everything around us shows duality. They have the power to be modest and majestic at the same time. From the endless universe to us mere humans show duality. The Modesty and Majesty of Being by Dhaval Rathod is a wonderful collection of poems that explore the duality of the universe.

Wow! I absolutely LOVE this book! I haven't read such a beautiful collection of poetry for a long time. These poems are majestic and modest at the same time. I loved, loved, loved reading this book!!!

The book is divided into four parts. The first section is about The Modesty and Majesty of Being. The second section is about The Modesty and Majesty of Nature. It's followed by The Modesty and Majesty of Universe and, The Modesty and Majesty of Love. Most of these poems are filled with positive thoughts. It's a kind of solace and inspiration. The meaning behind each poem is remarkable. The poems are written with a specific goal in mind and that is to be a companion to us in all aspects of life.

Comparing human life to the cosmos is what makes the poems extraordinary. The poet brings in the totality of the universe into these short poems and that makes his incredible skills evident.

The poems also glance at social issues. I loved the rhythm of the poems. The poetic style was beyond my expectations. I can't explain it in words. But this book deserves a million STARS!!!

For me poetry is something deeper than the words we speak and more intense than what we can see. It hits the right corner of heart if written well. So this book has those poems that made me connect with my current situation and I felt relatable with the words, some unknown has written. I felt like poet pour down all my emotions and feelings on his paper with his words

This all I said was for my favourite sections from this book, the first one that talks for "within ourselves" and fourth one that speaks for "love"
These sections made me realise so many things around me, with me, within me, and also those I wasn't accepting.
The other two sections talks for nature and the universe, I felt it was more about existence. Author worked really well and I'm a huge fan from now.

He emphasised well on the details, poetic elements and emotions for sure. I love the book and book cover. Since it is poetry so can't tell exactly what but I felt something missing in a few poetries but that didn't bother my overall experience of reading.

I love it.

The cover of the book is beautiful and gives magical vibes. Through this collection of poems the author is trying to convey how the qualities of modesty and majesty are present in each one of us. The poems feel a sincere attempt at these concepts. But it fails to leave an impact as the focus is too much on rhyming in the poems that after a certain point of time the poems stopped making sense to me. Poetry is not just rhyming. 


It felt that the main aim of the book was quantity and not quality. Even if there would have been 10-20 well written poems I would have cherished them. More than poetry it was all just rhyming words and lines. I enjoyed reading only a few of them while I had to drag myself through the rest trying to make sense of it all.


Overall, I would say if the blurb interests you do go for it. If the book hasn't worked for me doesn't mean it won't for you either.

With the concept of Modesty and Majesty the author has written these poems about nature, the universe, love and being. Poems have deep meaning even though they are just few words or lines.

All these nature, universe, and love are great things. In the whole world. Which cannot be describe in words. And yet author Dhaval did his best in writing these poems. Poems are written in simple words but still somehow they are very deep and intense. There are many poems which are beautiful and I killed most of them.
Here's one :

The cracks in my heart
Are an odd landscape.
They are too small
To let you escape,
And yet too large
To get back in shape.

So many poems with different themes and different perspective. And few are a bit lengthy too. Overall, it is a good and simple book to read.

Modesty and Majesty is gigantic and scintillating poems divided in four sections like Nature, universe, Us and love.
It revolves around within and outside the world, it has thought provoking and heartwarming touch in every piece of it.

The language is lucid and easy to understand and rich in every emotion. The author has brilliantly expressed his observations and emotions throughout his writing.

I personally loved the being section, as I can relate with it so much. The poetries are more focused on bringing what is going on rather than going orthodox way, which is the biggest strength of it.

It little lengthy but Overall, a good read. You can complete it within one sitting. Every poetry lover must try this. 🤍

I rarely read English poetry because I find it unpleasant. This book is more than just something I read to pique my interest in English poetry. As I read the poems, I was able to draw connections between them and a variety of things and occurrences in my life, which, in my opinion, is a sign of a talented writer. After reading the verses, the poetry caused me to lose myself within the ideas, and I just linked and attempted to apply them to my life. The book is organized into four sections; each section has a distinct philosophy and significance based on a different theme, but regardless of subject, the reader will be able to obtain more information and insight of life through these. My favorite segment is the first one because it challenges readers to see the world differently and urges them to view it through the eyes of the items mentioned in the poems. Every element of our earthly realm is shown with breathtaking beauty from a new perspective. It inspires you to carry out good actions, reflect on your life, and transform yourself. Every line of poetry in this part is inspirational, and I adore how this book got me to view the world around me from a fresh viewpoint. The second phase is inspired by and based on nature, using nature as a source of knowledge. The poems illustrate nature's radical philosophies and aim to make a link between nature and humanity by telling their stories via various facets of the natural world. They also encourage readers to think about nature and how essential it is to us. Despite the fact that the third segment is about the cosmos, it depicts human emotions by using the universe as an example. My absolute favorite poem in the book was "Ten Twinkling Little Stars," and I was least able to relate to the other poems in the final section, which is devoted to love. The emotions depicted in the poems weren't particularly relevant to my life, and they didn't shift how I perceived them in any way, but they were depicted magnificently and included first love, heartbreak, detachment, love at first sight, and more. It was like a self-help book, but in a way that leads the reader's mind to shift his thinking; it was an out of the ordinary world notion that stimulates us and inspires us to improve and grow more powerful. Everyone should read this book, in my opinion.

The poems here are filled with a deep sense of reverence for the Earth and a powerful reminder of our responsibility to protect it.

Theam related to"Whispers of the Soul," is a powerful exploration of the human experience and the many emotions we feel. The poems here are poignant and thought-provoking, delving into the depths of our souls and touching on themes such as love, loss, and the search for meaning.

All-in-all, "The Modesty and Majesty of being" is a beautifully written and heartfelt book that will leave readers feeling moved and inspired. use of language and imagery is truly remarkable, and his ability to capture the essence of the human experience is unparalleled. The highlight of the book for me is the love poems exploring the different shades of love; from the bliss of love to heartbreak to healing. The poetic verses capture the intensity of emotions, giving words to unsaid thoughts.

The book presents things in an unique perspective, making you appreciate the things in a new light. Though all the poems are good, 'The Joy of Loving You', 'The Joy of Loving You', 'The Perfect Place', 'Not for me' and 'No other Fate' are some of my fav poems from the book.

Reading poetry always feels like a reality check in the sweetest way possible. This book is one such reality check that offers us a wide range of emotions that are not just beautiful but also thought-provoking.
Modesty means not being too proud or confident about yourself or your abilities. Majesty means power, author, or dignity.
And this book discusses the nature of these contrasting qualities in beings.

The book categorizes into four parts which help to further under the nature of beings through this rhythmic journey of beautifully woven lines.

The author takes us on a journey of fragile thoughts but empowers us by saying, "Sometimes, you may feel that things are going wrong. But that should not stop you from singing your song".

Then he dives us into the Majesty of nature, where our souls calm with each line we read. Return to nature was one of the main features of the romantics, and this part of the book feels like going back to those romantics. One of my favorite poems in this section is the cursed lovers where the speaker says, "The day and the night - Two lovers cursed by time. Separated by light. United in my rhyme".

After getting adorned by the beauty of nature, we explore the universe. The stars, sky, cosmos, and moonlight depicts void, grievance, and unfulfillment with a pinch of hope.

The last section of this book discusses love and how it impacts us. The speaker addresses how the season of love develops. What is love? And the modesty in loving yourself. These final lines from the book have my heart - " The only reason I look within my soul is to learn the fact that alone can also be whole."

These poems are mind-blowing, thoughts provoking, calming, deep-rooted, and extremely peaceful. If you are a poetry lover you definitely should check this book out.

If you are in search of a poetry collection book that would inspire you in a very subtle and simple way . You should definitely go for "The Modesty and Majesty of Being" by Dhaval Rathod. The book will definitely take you through the roller coaster of emotions. The poems are written in such a manner you will feel that the writer himself is narrating his set of collections in front of you . Coming from the personal experience I can bet that once you start from the very first letter you will end up on the last letter of the book in no time ,I am saying this because the poems are so interesting which will make you more involved in reading and that curiosity of turning the next page will stay in harmony .

The Modesty and Majesty of Being by Dhaval Rathod is a collection of poems. The author has played with the concept of duality which is present in us humans as well as in nature. We can have modesty and majesty at the same time. We are full of such dualities – we can be both - fragile and strong. This is an interesting observation and the author has explored this in form of different poems. The book is divided into four parts – each part dealing with the modesty and majesty of – Being, Nature, Universe, and Love. The verses are beautiful and will give you a rainbow of feelings. There is love – fulfilled and unrequited, heartbreak, loss, jubilation, inspiration, sadness, and many more emotions. Some of the poems are very short, some a bit longer. But every poem is written beautifully. The language is easy to understand and very relatable. We all feel these different feelings but poets have the ability to express them through words. I enjoyed reading all of these poems and I would have loved to quote at least a dozen here! But, let me give you just a couple of them:

Women – “Equality between genders, an argument so roary; Just think who gives birth to all. And that’s the end of story”. Short, simple and powerful.

Unconditional – “The rarity, the scarity, the modesty, and the majesty of the unconditional. What happened to that kind of love? Why do we no longer believe? Why do we hesitate to give where there is no scope to receive? – Simple words yet powerful and thought-provoking.

Dhaval has written these beautiful verses which will take the readers on a rollercoaster ride and readers will experience a rainbow of emotions. I simply loved these poems. Don’t miss this one!

'The Modesty and Majesty of Being' is an anthology of beautiful poems to inspire and introspect. At first sight, I fell in love with the cover. It is magical! So very beautiful!

The book is basically divided into four sections. They are dedicated to the modesty and majesty in us, nature, the universe and love.

Here is the first poem of this book that really made me go through many more poems at once.

Fire, passion, and grace,

Part one is Dedicated to the Modesty and Majesty of being. Dedicated to the Universe and your connection with the cosmos and the supreme power " God".

You are the temple.

Even the brightest of stars had a humble beginning as clouds of dust and gas. Along with being majestic, the star is also quite generous with its light. Even the best of the flowers that grace gods were once small seeds in the earth. While holding the most honorable place, the flower is also modest enough to spare its fragrance for everyone around. There is this duality in everything we see around us. The elements of nature, the universe, and even phenomena like love have the quality to be modest and majestic at the same time. The same duality is often reflected in all of us, binding us even closer to the universe and nature than we realize.


The foremost attribute of this collection is the author's skill with language. Rathod deploys words like a painter using a brush, painting vivid and detailed images of the world around us.
