With the help of her artistic grandmother, a little girl learns to use her "heartsight" to view the world through an artist's eyes, in a charming story that celebrates the bond between a child and her grandmother.
I loved the pictures! Gorgeous illustrations; which a book on becoming an artist kinda has to have. The narrative was more of captured moments than a story-line and I didn't find it anything amazing. I'm not convinced it would keep a child's attention.
Ages: 6 - 10

This is one of those books that feels its age - if not older. It has a sweet premise of a grandmother teaching her granddaughter to appreciate her artistic voice and pay closer attention to the world around her - but the visual layout, characters' outfits, and details make the story less accessible/believable to a contemporary reader.
I really wanted to like this, and it has beautiful illustrations and sentiment, but I found it hard to follow and the different texts chosen were jarring against each other.
