I absolutely blew through this book. It took me completely by surprise. I have heard murmurings of the benefits of a healthy gut, and thus the benefits of probiotics, but I took it all in with a grain of salt. The nature of science means that testing on theories happens over and over and over, proving…disproving…then proving again. It’s hard to determine who has what interest in mind when some testing happens. Many “health” tests are done by companies with ulterior motives, hoping to prove their product(s) are the most healthy, or at least not dangerous. So, I have stuck with the very tried and true weight-loss technique: consume fewer calories than you burn. Results vary.
Holmes lays out, in a simple and easy to read format, how your gut effects your overall health. Thankfully, she uses words that non-medical people can understand (I read a lot of medical studies out of sheer curiosity, and they have a tendency to be a bit over my head, despite my once having taught science. THAT science is a wee bit more advanced than 6th grade life science. This book provides information in pretty simple language that isn’t intimidating. It was refreshing. Holmes provides information on various ailments, like IBS, that leave millions of people with debilitating symptoms. She then follows with foods and supplements that can provide relief, outside of simply medicating the problem. It’s a pleasant reprieve from the medical community that seems to only want to throw drugs at a problem. Holmes offers solutions to cut the problem off at the source.
When my youngest was a wee lass, she used to tell anybody that would listen that oxygen gave her mother gas. Teehee kid. After reading this book, it made me wonder if maybe my own gut health needs to be reset (after 45 years, I don’t think a 4-week program is going to fix my excessive flatulence, but I’m still optimistic). This book includes a link to a workbook and additional helpful information. I’m going to give it a go and see if it helps me. The bonus with this type of plan is that it certainly isn’t going to hurt me. More fruits and veggies is on every doctor’s wish list, and that’s a lot of what Holmes is suggesting.

Gut Health Reset Book Review

Gut Health Reset offers an informative and clearly structured approach to understanding and improving gut health. The author provides a well-organised guide that delves into the intricate relationship between our digestive system and overall well-being. With an emphasis on actionable steps, the book presents a refreshing perspective on how to reset and maintain a healthy gut through diet, lifestyle changes, and mindful practices.

What sets this book apart is its holistic approach, combining science with practical advice that is easy to follow. The author explains complex concepts in a way that is accessible to readers without a medical background, making it a valuable resource for anyone looking to improve their health. The book also highlights the importance of gut health in areas beyond digestion, such as mental clarity and immune function, offering a comprehensive view that extends beyond the typical focus on diet alone.

Overall, *Gut Health Reset* is certainly worth the read for anyone interested in taking control of their gut health and, by extension, their overall health.

I’ve read several books and articles on gut health, and this one is the best I’ve seen. It’s a comprehensive. study in all things related to gut health. I was reminded of things I learned in the past, a refresher is always good as it is easy to sip into old habits. I learned a few new things as well.

I like that the author acknowledges there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution to achieving optimal gut health. We are all unique individuals and what works for one may not work for another. The author provides many diagrams and questions to help the reader figure out their personal situation.

The first half of the book has some personal anecdotes and lots of fact based research that explains the multitude of discomforts and diseases we may experience that are all linked back to the gut.

The second half of the book is where the reader takes action. There are step by step processes and lots of recipes to get us started on our new path.

I got the kindle version of this book but I’ll be buying the paper copy because I know this is a book I’ll want reference frequently.

This is a good book that explains the importance of good gut health, something I read in another book recently as well. This book was easy to understand and laid out the reasons to eat properly, with lists of suggested foods. There are also a lot of recipes at the end of the book. For me, the recipes were not very practical, because they require a long list of ingredients most of which I don't have. I do plan to use some of them though and learned that monk fruit sweetener is the best and healthiest to use, so I'll be purchasing some of that to replace the stevia extract I've been using.

It provides a plan to elimate foods that negatively impact you and helpful recipes at the back. Overall, an excellent and easy read to improve your gut health to live a healthier life.

As someone who deals with particular health issues, this book was highly informative and educational.

If you’re looking to improve your health through proper eating and self care, this is the book for you. Kara provides the hows and whys in an easy to understand format. There is quite a bit of medical information in here, but it helps the reader understand how food impacts everything from weight and energy, to mental and emotional stability. It explains how the digestive system works and how certain groups of foods can impact the various processes of digestion.

The book also includes a 4 week plan for an elimination diet to find which foods impact you. A list of supplements which can help with gut healing is also included.

Lastly, Kara provides multiple recipes to help you along your journey. If you’re looking for a comprehensive plan to improve your health, heal your gut and lose a few pounds, you’ve found the right book!
