The new High Priestess is one of the Council of Poseidon's exes...what could possibly go wrong? Aurelia has always taken her position on the Council of Poseidon seriously, which includes hiring the right people for the job. When her ex's name comes up as a suggestion for High Priestess, she knows she's the perfect fit, even if she's never really gotten over her. Kate has always been determined to not let her heart get in the way of her career, so when she's given a chance to become a High Priestess, she knows she has to take it, even if it means her ex is now her boss. Will they take hold of the second chance the fates have offered them?

Arizona Tape continues storytelling with her unique take on Greek Mythology. The Council of Poseidon is tasked with looking after the world's oceans and Aurelia is part of that Council. When a vacancy arises for High Priestess, Katerina is appointed. There's history between the two - a hard break up, no real animosity but lingering emotion. I particularly like how Tape details the Poseidon duties and world especially when a major oil spill happens and retired Poseidons are pressed into duty. Descriptions of storms and angry seas all add to the world building along with the second chance at love between Kate and Aurelia and some other bits of mild drama along the way. An easy, enjoyable tale, fine addition to the series and worthy take on Poseidon.
If there's one thing Tape (and Greenwood) is good at, it's coming up with original situations and worlds. This universe, where the Greek Gods have become titles and official functions and are being passed down to others, is clearly one of those original ideas. But I'm always looking forward to the next installment. I was therefore happy that BookSprout notified me that Poseidon's story was ready.
In a way each and every story in this universe is unique and in a way they're also the same. Of course this is also a love story, where we see how one of the Poseidons, the title is being shared among three people, is reuniting with an ex-girlfriend and is forced to take care of old wounds. I was quite curious about this second chance novel, because second chance romances are really tricky to write.
In this case I think the second chance romance works really well. It's clear from the moment the characters re-meet that both characters still have feelings for the other and it's also clear that they've both grown and learned a lot since their break-up. I like how this book focussed on communicating and how important communicating is.
I also liked the side-plots in this story. They were kinda small, but they did add a little more to the already existing world-building. In this case we were seeing a little what the Poseidons are doing and why the title is shared and we find out what happens when two Gods in the same temple might get romantically involved and who decides if that's allowed.
I'm already looking forward to the next installment in this series!
second chances are hard to come by t it this one is necessary. the beauty of this relationship where they have never forgotten the impact. this is a beautiful story.
This is book four of the Queens of Olympus and the main characters are Aurelia, one of three current Poseidons, and her ex-girlfriend Kate (Katerina) who has been offered the position of High Priestess at the temple right by the water. Kate had worked hard to get to this level and was the best candidate for the job. Aurelia didn’t tell her other Poseidons, who make up the council, Alistair and Phoebe, that she already knew Katerina, not wanting that to influence their decisions. It had been a few years since they broke up, after Katerina was offered a promotion across the country from where they were both working at the time. They had been together for three years since college and Aurelia gave up on their relationship, knowing Katerina would be working excessively long hours, driven to be the best she could be in the new position and wouldn’t have any time for a long distance relationship. It broke her heart and she thought she was over it until she sees her in person again and the butterflies start up again.
For Katerina, she is now in her dream job, something she has worked hard to get to, and her ex is now her boss. She needs to show that there was no favouritism given to her and that she is the best person to be the new High Priestess, who keeps the temple running smoothly and is also responsible for helping to support the Poseidons as well. With a dangerous and toxic spill to contend with for the Poseidons, she is kept busy in her first few weeks, needing to gain lots of support for the Poseidons, former ones as well, plus set up everything needed to deal with all of the problems. Add in a few problems that brings their own relationship issues to the fore and it makes them question where they went wrong before and if there could ever be a second chance for them to be together! The fates have clearly brought them back together, but they need to learn the lessons from their past mistakes and decide whether work is really all that matters to them now. Or if there could be room for a relationship? Trust between them has to be freely given, believed and earned. Another entertaining short FF tale with a twist on the legend of Poseidon and Greek mythology and a touch of romance along the way. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
There’s history and then there’s *history* A committed relationship for three years is quite an accomplishment; ending on good terms is even more amazing. A few chapters in, it seemed to me that both Aurelia and Katerina knew their own priorities as well as their partner’s. That makes such a huge difference when an opportunity arises – both people can walk away with minimal angst. Which makes working together years later so much easier…for them as well as their co-workers.
May we all be as honest with ourselves and our partners as this couple was.
I appreciate that the author included an environmental message in this – taking care of the seas. Multiple Poseidons gather to help clean up an oil spill. Fave quote: ‘My term ended but I never stopped serving the ocean. I’m a Poseidon for life.’
Aurelia has take her place on the Council of Poseidon and is helping to keep the ocean's clean. When a new High Priestess is needed, Aurelia is not surprised to see her ex's name at the top of the list. Aurelia knows Kate is the right person for the job and regardless of the fact she never got over their breakup she needs to do her job and help select the best person for High Priestess. Kate has always been career oriented and becoming the High Priestess is a great honor and good for her career. The only issue is that the woman she left behind will be her new boss. Will Aurelia and Kate put their pasts behind them and try to start over together or is there just too much history between them? I loved this book, the story is original and the characters are amazing.
Arizona tape once again has a winner with her… Series and this one we meet Ariel’s and Katrina and they get a second chance love affair, having been together already you know it must be good when you go back for seconds and this book is a great book for readers of mythology and romance with a unique take and an interesting book if you love, love then you will love these books by Arizona Tate. I certainly am only being honest when I say I am obsessed I read the first three book anthology and was hooked and can’t wait for book 5. A definite five star. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
4 stars. I’m seriously loving this series. So unique, well written and with swoon worthy romances included. This is definitely one of my favorites thus far. It’s a second chance romance between Aurelia and Kate and it was so good. Aurelia was still hurt by Kate dumping her years ago and Kate has never stopped loving Aurelia. There was so much between them that they had to overcome and work through and I enjoyed watching them do so. Especially with Aurelia. She had to learn to let her guard down and be willing to fall in love with Kate again. They had fantastic chemistry and this was such a wonderful read.
Aurelia is one of the 3 Poseidon serving at at her temple so when the High Priestess position becomes available who’s better qualified then her ex Katerina. What could possibly go wrong with working your ex? In This installment of Council Of Poseidon (Queens Of Olympus) by Arizona Tape the main characters have a history together but at the time they just wasn’t meant to be but will things be different the second time around? I received this book via Booksprout as an ARC for my honest opinion and I honestly loved it. I would definitely recommend that you read book.
This was so sweet! What I really like about this author's books is that all the romances are healthy. I'm not a huge fan of the "bitter ex" trope, so it was nice to see that Aurelia and Kate held no ill will towards each other. I also really liked the descriptions of the ocean. In conclusion, I enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read the next one (Hecate is my favorite Greek Goddess!).
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This one was a page turner for sure. Sleep was the only thing that kept me from reading. This is a story of second chance romance, finding the one that got away, but shouldn't have, finding your love eventually when the time is truly right.
I loved the concept of multiple Poseidons at once. I loved it and am awaiting getting my hands on the next book in this series soon!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. A lovely second chance story where work brings Aurelia and Katerina back together. This time Katerina has learned from the past and slowly winds Aurelia's heart back.
A Second Chance for Love Among the Gods This story is a touching tale of Aurelia and Katrina, ex-lovers and current God and High Priestess. I really enjoyed their one-step-forward-two-steps-back relationship rebuilding - so mature yet so tender.
This was a sweet life romance story that was a quick read but had a good message about the seas and how important they are to the characters and life. Sweet story!
Aurelia is one of a trio of Poseidons, and Katerina is the temple’s new High Priestess. They have a past, from college days they were together, and even though they split then to both further their careers, they each miss the other. This is a fun take on the Greek mythology, well written and interesting. It’s a relatively short novel, with no angst and a happy ending, a part of the Queens of Olympus series.
