The unthinkable happens when Chestbeard . . . asks for help! Pirates would rather walk the plank than ask for help, and they do not like walking the plank!
With a seemingly endless infestation of zombie imps aboard his ship, Chestbeard sails to Neighborville Harbor and enlists Patrice, Nate, and Crazy Dave in clearing out the impfestation!
Paul Tobin (Bandette, Genius Factor) collaborates with artist Cat Farris (Plants vs. Zombies Volume 13: Snow Thanks, The Ghoul Next Door) for a brand-new Plants vs. Zombies original graphic novel!
Paul Tobin is the Eisner-award winning, New York Times-bestselling author of Bandette, Colder, and many other comic books and graphic series.
Bandette, drawn by Colleen Coover, was awarded the Eisner Award for Best Digital Series in 2013, 2016, and 2017; and was a finalist for the Oregon Book Award for Graphic Literature in 2016. His original graphic novel I Was the Cat was nominated for an Eisner in 2015.
There's a lot of these Plants vs Zombies graphic novels now, and this isn't one of the worst ones. Someone who enjoys them would certainly enjoy this story too.
This is a pirate-themed issue featuring Chestbeard and his crew along with the kids & Crazy Dave. The plants are here, but aren't a big part of the story. The usual zombie characters like Frogpants make a very brief appearance. Imps are the stars as you'd expect from the name.
I loved the way the conflict was resolved and a few of the gags were great. The bridges for example. I would try that Barbequed Bubblegum Burst pizza!
