Are you ready for an adventure that features a dinosaur and reads like a Mission Impossible meets Scooby Doo in a world that resembles that of The Flintstones? Good, I thought you would be and as this is the latest picturebook from multi-award-winning Alex Willmore who you may know of for his brilliant I Did See A Mammoth then you know it is going to be just brilliant. In this book we are treated to a story which will prompt lots of giggles, the investigator in us all and of course a desire to join Spyceratops as a spy… There is no doubt that dinosaurs in books for children are popular, but this is a brilliant new take on them, and it will intrigue the reader with its undeniable draw. Did I mention the cover yet? That is also a brilliant lure with its picture of the main character and its bold red and black swirls hinting at what we might find inside.

Spyceratops introduces us, firstly, to everything a spy needs. There is a hi-tech spy facility, the loyal and highly trained sidekick and of course the gadgets. Only if you can be trusted will you learn something which is TOP SECRET…and be able to turn the page. I will let you into a little bit of that secret and tell you it has wheels and is an important part of the story. Now, because you, reader, have now joined Spyceratops as a spy it is important you understand the mission. You will have to be sneaky, good at peeking, blending in and doing some daredevil manoeuvres for Grandad is acting very suspiciously. He most certainly cannot be trusted which is why we are going on a mission with Spyceratops, to uncover his secret plotting and learn what he has been hiding as well as see a demonstration of some extraordinary spying skills! Simply fantastic.
