Misha is a Russian Millennial who has given up on his country as he watches Putin’s regime choke the life out of Russia’s fledgling democracy. Abandoning the cause of reform in the face of relentless tyranny, Misha still has to protect his rebellious sister in a world that grows darker by the day. When she is arrested for protesting Putin’s special military operation, Misha is forced to join the army and fight a war he doesn’t believe in. Now, he will do anything to escape and find his way to the free world where he hopes to bring his sister out of Russia. But when he comes across a rogue cadre of Russian soldiers, he will face a life-and-death decision that could change the course of history.
This historical fiction story of a Russian soldier fighting in Ukraine shows the darkest sides of war. Offering characters you will get attached too, and a passed story, I thoroughly enjoyed this read.
