This story, part of Ron Roy's Capital Mysteries series is great! I loved reading about different places in D.C. and working to solve a mystery in the area was really fun!

The story takes off after KC and Marshall spot weird colored lights atop the Washington Monument while camping out on the White House lawn. The next day, they discover a monkey in the monument during a tour. KC and Marshall set off on a wild adventure to solve a 100-year-old mystery that involves a jewel thief, long-lost diamonds, and one of Washington's most famous and historic landmarks.

This is an interesting mystery in the Capital Mysteries series, one that is far less dangerous and creepy than the others so far.

KC and Marshall visit the Washington Monument and the National Zoo, adding a few more places to our to-see list now that we live in the area. Our girls have really enjoyed the books in this series.

KC and Marshall are friends; one night, while sleeping on the lawn of the White House (the US President is KC's new stepfather), they see twinkling lights in the top level of the Washington Monument. They decided to investigate and then solve the mystery!

I love these books because they weave facts about the historic sites in Washington DC into the mystery. In this one I learned that some of the states donated memorial stones to help build the Washington Monument. And it was a fun mystery.

Cute fast read. It was part of a 12 book series which I will add to my summer read list. I loved the setting as a history teacher. Good reading level for probably 3-5th graders but I do have some students at that level so I could make a good recommendation to them.

Hmmmm the fact that it was a trained monkey really spoiled it for me. However, my 7 year old REALLY enjoyed it.

I liked it. They find a monkey in the Washington monument and the owner has trained the monkey whenever it sees the word washington it will punch at the o. They find the monkey at the monument and they find a hole in the O and at the end they have a party to see who owns the monkey. And the monkey goes to a lady that sells maps and books about Washington.
