Over 200 illustrations show tsp-by-step instructions for activities with paper, ceramics, printmaking, and more. Projects were created for elementary students to build confidence and self-esteem. Elements and principles of design are emphasized. Projects include masks, abstract art, fantasy art, space art, landscapes, printmaking, paper cut-outs, mobiles, molas, and many more.
I kind of... loved this. Great for art class ideas. This one is geared towards children a little older than mine... so maybe 8 and up, but we still used a few of the ideas in this one with success.
What a great introduction to art techniques, artists, and mediums! These projects are inexpensive, require little initial skill, explain learning concepts, list materials, and include step-by-step fully illustrated instructions, plus suggestions for ratcheting up for older kids. Most are designed for children ages 7 - 12. I was able to simplify selected projects for children ages 3 - 6. You'll seriously want to do them all!
The table of contents features a photo of the finished product which serves to both whet the appetite and find your project at-a-glance. The first three of the twenty-six projects are:
Crazy Cactus (using squeeze paint) Abstract Cityscape (using tissue paper collage) Fantasy Space Art (spatter paint, watercolor wash, oil pastels, and collage)
