A book ‘in celebration of women’ that has a gustav klimt painting on the front cover and 99% of the art inside is by men...the least this book could have done was have all the words and paintings created by women, yet most of the art is by white men and men known for drawing naked women. Quotes are also basic and not that inspiring. VERY eurocentric. Not sure what kind of women will feel celebrated by this book, Helen.
This book took forever for us to read. I wanted to share some inspirational words about women, by women, and for women with our girls, but they didn't really enjoy it much. We looked at the pictures and I only read one page at a time to keep their interest as best possible. Perhaps someday they'll want to read it again...
Great reference for speeches of empowerment. Nice art and layout but not at all comprehensive. A fun, enjoyable, relaxing book that celebrates and amplifies the voices of women.
Pulled a few strumpets out of this book too - although, most of the quotes were far to long - full page essays. Still, a good source book, and I haven't yet used all the available quotes.
