Clown Zero
Beware the things that go honk in the night.
The greatest public visibility of this threat came in 2016 during what the media labeled “The Great Clown Panic.” Through a flurry of falsified police reports and disinformation, it was written off as hysteria, internet hoaxes, and online myths. Little did they know… They were not fraternity pranks or demented cosplayers like most want to believe. The painted menace is all too real and an unnatural threat to ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, and children of all ages.
The only thing standing between humanity and these tootling terrors are elite paramilitary squads with the skills and armaments to send the honking horrors to their untimely end. Covert fireteams seek to end the carnivals of the damned once and for all. But to do so, they must eliminate the elusive target Clown Zero.
Clown Zero is a horror comedy by fantasy novelist and comic book author Ryan Foley. It is a surreal adventure about a paramilitary team hunting nightmarish clown congresses hiding amongst humanity. It is self-described as a “strange amalgam of ‘90s action, supernatural staples, zombie clichés, vampire tropes, and endless pop culture references” spawned from “a COVID-induced madness caused by those long stretches in isolation.” Too silly to be scary but too serious to be outright ridiculous, Clown Zero is a stylized shoot-‘em-up adventure filled with fast-paced action, witty dialogue, a supernatural harlequinade, and scenarios that will leave most laughing… and have coulrophobes looking for either a dumpster or a safe to lock the book away in.
