I knew there was more to Sarai "Slick" than her recklessness. Sarai was still dealing with the abandonment of her mother, coupled with feeling like she was less than by her father and brother. Her sadness came across as anger, when she would lash out! It just seemed as if Sarai could not catch a break, when once again ish went down in her club. She is sent to meet with her father's attorney to make it all go away, but what she got was so much more. Malachi! Smart, handsome attorney, positioned to take over his father's firm; when in walks this sassy woman who lit him on fire! This pair was unlikely; but had a lot of sexual chemistry. The story moved so quickly that I didn't connect with the love they had, as I couldn't feel it! There was so much concentration on what Carmen had going on, that it overshadowed their love story. Speaking of Carmen, we never learned why she left. She said she never wanted it to be like this. Like what? What did you expect? Why were you so hard up to hurt Smoke? I believe this is the end of this series, however, it still feels incomplete to me. I hoped that we would get some answers for both Eli and Sarai, but no such luck. Although I was a bit disappointed, I am glad that Sarai found the healing she needed, as well as love.

I preferred Sarai over Slick

Sarai was a more accurate name for the beauty. Slik was once my nickname when I was in college. It was in reference to my slick mouth, wit, and attitude. Sarai reminded me of 20 year old me who was determined to make my mark on the world. I was not feeling the way Eli and Smoke treated Sarai. And then another overbearing man stepped in and exacerbated her feelings of being controlled. Malachi had a tough job to tame this lioness... I really liked the way Malachi took control of his woman. But, don't forget her lineage. It was amazing to see Sarai get a sorta happy ending, even though her Mom's situation added angst. She still had Smoke and Maestro's support that she could finally see clearly. I loved going on this journey with this enigmatic crew.

I liked this one, Slick was my shero but Malachi held his own, as well! I loved the way Aja intertwined therapy and healing into the storyline. So good.

Interesting story. Same formula as the previous two books but what I found interesting about this book was Slick's introspection and growth. She really wanted to heal her demons and become a better person. Also for her to be such a badass, she harbored a lot of insecurities. Questioning whether her dad was going to replace her and questioning his love. She did the same thing with Eli and Malachi.

I thought Malachi was a great companion for her but I def understood his parents position. Not about Slick not being good enough but about the danger that came along with dating her.

I was left unsatisfied with the resolution of the mom's story line. I never thought she was trying to kill Slick but I didn't understand why Slick was in danger and not Eli. It didn't make sense to me. Their final scene felt like the twilight zone. I just couldn't buy why he came after Malachi and Slick. His reasoning was stupid.

SLICK AKA SARAI

Sarai was the little girl who worshipped her mother, but one day, all that changes, and as she gets older, she becomes Slick. Slick is rebellious and doesn't care about consequences. All she wants is to be treated equally as her brother Maestro and to finally have the moment to see her mother again. I loved Slick's story because we get to understand why Slick is the way she is and her journey to healing and finding love. Her and Malachi were definitely made for each other from the physical attraction to the sexual chemistry. In her darkest moment, he never left her side and knew she would one day be his wife.

I enjoyed reading Slick by Aja so much! This is the 3rd book of the Enigma series and she definitely brought out the drama, heat and emotions. What I loved the most about this book was that I could relate to Sarai "Slick" Lewis so much. She needed Malachi and Malachi needed her. Let me just say that Malachi is the man! I love reading books by Aja because she keeps my faith in love alive!

Love is in Need; Need for Wholeness

Sarai's story is intended to be different from Daddy and Big Brother. Imagine watching your mother walking away from you at an early age causing you to question yourself, your worth skewing your perspective of what is love. In the midst of back to back trials that seek to destroy her enters Malachi who becomes a salve, a balm to her soul. I felt for her and when she begin to see light in her life, I rejoice with her. The author continues to interweave spirituality and redemption in her work. Now I want to hear more about Carmen, the "beloved" mother.

I loved Slick. The cut throat bad azz yet vulnerable needy daddys girl FMC will always win me. Mari narration wonderfully showcased her ability to code switch like a MFr. I did miss the mafia storyline a little bit but all the revelations were on point.

and then there was just me

Sarai aka Slick feels left out. Her father Smoke and brother Maestro have a bond that she feels like she isn’t a part of . She is the black sheep because she is an emotional hothead that they are always having to get her out of trouble she caused. She feels alone and unloved by her absentee mother, tolerated by her father and a burden to her brother. At the root of her dysfunction Slick is holding on to the pain of abandonment especially from her mom. She still loves her but struggles with reconciling and accepting what happened. She feels abandoned by her dad and a disappointment to him. She feels like she is second best to her brother. She doesn’t know what to do to be happy or what makes her happy. “how you gonna find your happiness…”
She is jealous of their relationship with each other and their women. She is unlucky in love looking for it in the wrong men. Now that both her father and brother have found love she has found herself asking “Where the f*** was the love for me?”
Malachai was a hot shot lawyer who had confidence and swag for days. He was the eldest son in a family of lawyers and poised to take over the family law firm when his father retired. He was single and despite all of the women his mother paraded in front of him as well as the women he encountered on his own, none of them were the one. Until one day Sarai walked on the law offices needing help.

The attraction and chemistry was hot. She was stubborn and didn’t want to follow rules or be told what to do. He liked to run things, lead, and be in control. He recognized that she was trouble and a handful from the gate. She recognized that he was out of her league and she would mess up his life. But they couldn’t let each other go.
There is drama in her life that puts Malachi life in danger. Someone is reeking havoc in the streets and their family business. Who and why is shocking. But he is sticking beside her. She finally has her ride or die and she is no longer alone.

I enjoyed this entire series and I loved the setting of a crime family finding love on the midst of being about that life. I appreciated the vulnerability and emotional rawness of the characters in each of their books. Great read and series!

SLICK by AJA
I quickly fell in love with Smoke and Maestro from Aja's The Enigma Series ...'cause......this chick can WRITE....periodt...And Slick is just one more example of that ...💜🌼 Sarai (Slick) Lewis is straight up, a bada$$.....she's been raised by her father, but she's never felt like she was an equal to her brother...He and their father have tried to keep Sarai safe her whole life...but, in doing so, they've also kept her outta the loop, on a lot... and made her feel a little left out and resentful, if I'm reading it right...She's gorgeous and smart and tough and so strong...Her mother left her and her brother when they were young, and that's impacted Sarai's every thought, her every word and every action she's taken..💜🌼 Enter Malachi Montgomery, the sexy, hotshot lawyer to whom her father sends her when she gets into some problems, not of her own making...Malachi loves and grounds Sarai in a way that she's never had before...and, let me say this...they are so hot together...💜🌼 Tbh, I started The Enigma Series first, and had to go back and read her SoulMates Series, before I finished it...I mean.. it was no hardship... I loved both series' and I already know they and this author are going to be on all my favorites lists.. 💜🌼 I recommend you read Aja's SoulMates.Series and Smoke and Maestro from this series, first..and .I highly recommend all these books, both series' and this author..💜🌼
Ps..Her book covers are 🔥🔥🔥

Sarai & Malachi…Excellent Ending To This Awesome Series!! 🔥👏🏽👏🏽🔥

Wow! What a way to end this series! We were able to see and truly understand who Slick aka Sarai was! Yes, she was troubled, felt abandoned and unloved and I though a little lost! But, she was still true to herself! Through issues beyond her reach, she lands in trouble, but this time, trouble leads to an attorney who has and gets the opportunity to “see” both Slick and Sarai, and show her real trust and real love for her just as she was!!

Yes, there was drama, mayhem, tears, anger, sadness, family issues, counseling sessions and then love that calmed down both Smoke and Maestro, love that saved Sarai and understanding and trust that brought this family together! I know this is the end, but I would have loved for all of the siblings to have met each other before this was over!! But then, if you know this Beautiful Author named Aja Graves, you never know if this could become a reality further down the road of her own literary journey! 🥰

Listen, if you haven’t already read this entire series, then you are truly missing out! And if you’ve read Smoke’s and Maestro’s stories, jump on into Slicks story. You will be so glad you did! If you don’t know by now, I thoroughly enjoyed this and highly recommend it!! Aja, Kudos and More Kudos to You!! 💜💜

"Slick" by Aja

My Sentiments:

'Slick' was a good series, a well-written story that we learned a bit more about Sarai. Sarai was quite a character in being 'a loose cannon...explosive & unpredictable.' However, when Malachi [Chi] comes into the picture, being this family lawyer, and Sarai needs some help, he is right there for her, giving her encouragement and healing and the love she also needs in her life. Some interesting characters, especially Malachi's mom, Carmen, Elijah [Smoke], and Eli [Maestro]. I especially loved that Sarai finally saw that she was truly loved by her father, brother, and Malachi.

Be ready for plenty of 'drama, mayhem, anger, family issues, and therapy counseling sessions' that bring the story altogether. If you haven't read the other two series, you may want to read them before reading this last series because it will make more sense to one that has read all of the series since this was the climax.

Gangsta S & M

Finally, I waited almost two months for this release ‼️Nonetheless, “Slick (The Enigma Series Book 3) this book was as great as I anticipated it would be from the preview. Meanwhile, Ms. Sarai Lewis is a piece of work…two gats and a knife. DANG, can someone say human Swiss 🧀 cheese 😬🫣! Which makes Malachi the ideal man/mate/lover etc. (no spoilers 🤷🏾‍♀️) for Slick. …both have a gangsta mentality with fearless resolve. …hmmm gangsta’s S & M 🤦🏾‍♀️, “You want me to bring my knife, why?” “I want it strapped to your thigh while you ride me hard, baby.”... “You sure you want to cum that close to danger, Malachi?” yup, that’s gangsta prophetic 😂🤣‼️ Great series & read! I’m looking forward to the next installment of the Enigma series.

First, I loved Slick’s story. She was carrying so much resentfulness, sadness, and not to leave out abandonment issues. No wonder she was slicing and dicing folk without giving it a second thought. Thank goodness for Malachi and therapy!
Sarai’s character was so well-written. Aja really gave us a well-rounded character in Sarai(Slick). She is strong, smart, good looking, yet flawed. We are privileged to watch her deal with dangerous situations, rough therapy sessions, and come through a changed woman, and Malachi is right there with her every step of the way! So are Eli and Smoke. The story’s climax is sensational!
This Enigma Series has been engrossing, entertaining and unforgettable. I highly recommend it! You can thank me later

The Duality of Sarai/Slick

I believe that Sarai/Slick was representation of so many women. Her character was so relatable. The way Malachi was able to take over without Sarai feeling like yet another man was coming into her life to control her, she really needed him. As well as he needed her considering he too experienced a little is that from his parents. Slick was she was able to take control with no backlash from Malachi when needed, such a perfect balance. Also the way Malachi was able to see through Slick to get to Sarai was beautiful, he wanted to get to know her, not her lineage. Sarai's abandonment issues with her mom really showed how and why Slick was even a thing. The enigma series was beautifully penned and I'd love to read more about this family.

Slick was indeed a hot tempered woman!

All she needed was love, who doesn't? Of course we all have the love of our families. However, she didn't experience that love they way she thought she should being they way she was. She had a lot of deep rooted issues stemming from being abandoned by a mommy dearest, but acted out instead of seeking help. Well, along came a man to provide everything she needed. I'm so happy all the Lewis' found happiness, and got rid of all problems. Loved this series too, and highly recommend it.

I loved Slick. I was expecting this hard rough around the edges lady. What I got was Slick (Sarai) in her soft girl era. She was a mix of needing the love from her Father (Smoke) and searching for that love from her Mother. Dont get it twisted Slick does not play, but you love her instantly. There was some goodt I mean GOODT heated spice between Slick and Malachi! Wheew! Perfect pair. The Lawyer and the Gangster’s daughter. Malachi learned quickly that you better keep you a Glock somewhere handy in this family! 😂

A great read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I must say this book was worth the wait. I've enjoyed this series. Sarai (Slick) has been through so much in her life. Malachi is definitely different than Sarai is used to. Their meeting will forever change both their lives. I was sad to read the last page of this book. I would highly recommend this book. The whole series is great. It was an absolute pleasure reading this series. 🥰

All the books that lead to this Series, was very well written. You did an awesome job with the Characters and their roles in Smoke's life. You did a very good job bringing all the Characters to life and most of all ,his four children and granddaughter, exwife and most of all him getting their Spouses. This is excellent writing that keeps you reading to get to the next book. Thank you Ama keep writing and I'll keep reading

Oh So Good!

I'm seeing that I really like this here gangsta stuff, lol. Slick was probably the hardest to read out of the whole series because women always get judged by a different standard. When men are emotional, it's gangsta but when women are emotional, it's extra, why is that? I honestly did not see how Carmen would be dealt with but I definitely understood Slick's response. Malachi was truly the man. I hated to see this series end.

Taking by surprise

Slick finally realized that she was and is worthy of love and not the F**k that she presumed everyone taught she was. Malachi is definitely what Slick needed in her life to bring her the joy, peace and love she desired. I also love the thrill of this book, it kept me completely in tuned with every line written. Amazing job Aja but hey I didn’t expect anything less!!!!

Ended too soon

I really enjoyed Sarai(Slick)'s story. It was good to read about and get to know her from her point of view and not from her father and brothers point of view only. I loved Malachi for her. He loved her without controlling her. Good wrap-up of this family. I would have liked to see Smoke meet up with his other two daughters and for Eli and Sarai to meet them also.

Great ending to a great series!

Aja did a wonderful job with wrapping up this series. We finally got to see who Sarai “Slick” really was and what made her act the way she did. Malachi was the perfect antidote and I loved how he loved her. Great series. So glad I discovered this author!

Slick

Had to read especially since I have a Malachi and a Sarai. This was really good. Sarai had so many emotions tied to her mama. It colored every decision she made. Glad she had a supportive dad, brother and Malachi was icing in the cake.

Just Want to be Loved

Sarai (Slick) was a gangster and a gangster’s daughter but she wanted love and to be understood. She found that in Malachi. But could it work? He’s a lawyer on the other side of the law. Let’s not forget there’s a lot going on!
