If you're looking for a passive read, you came to the wrong place!

It starts off with a bold, one-word title and the bangs just hit harder after that. SPOILER ALERT: don't get too wrapped up in the first character you come across - he's not long for this world! Furthermore, his passing is one of the lighter deaths delivered. This is not a boring book and while the action drives the story, it's smart and justified action to boot.

Unfortunately, after the action, we run into the snags. For the length of the story, we definitely have a large cast and after a while it starts to feel like we have such a listing of characters just so we can keep the main character and still notch a number of deaths along the way.

Then we get into flashbacks while teasing a little romance. SPOILER ALERT: the romance is teased but takes a wrong turn at Albuquerque. I very much like the departure of the mainstream with the MC maintaining his fidelity and instead of becoming lovers, the interest become friends.

Two things weigh this baby down: the aforementioned cast and the non-resolving resolution of action and ambition on behalf of the aliens. They make for incredibly brutal killers (along with the fact that no one kills us like us) but the delivery of their drives and objective was muddy and forced.

Still a great read but not for those with no stomach for blood and disembodied body parts. Here, it is spelled GRAFFIK!
