Eleanor Watts has always loved reading, telling and writing stories. As the author of more than 20 textbooks, she has included stories wherever possible and as a primary school teacher in both UK and India, she has experimented with ways of using stories in the classroom. Her own series of stories for 3-8 year-olds, Ajanta Apartments, is about life in an Indian block of flats. Her Blackboard Book suggests creative ways - including storytelling - of teaching large classes with minimal resources.

Eleanor has trained teachers in India, Uganda, China, Palestine, Lebanon, UK, France, Spain, Norway and Italy and has found that wherever she goes, teachers use stories to motivate children and root language in a meaningful context.
