Major Ty Beckett A ghost returned with one of our own. A rescue has been made.
Ivy and I fight to stay strong while the team leans on one another and goodbyes are laid to rest. Missing pieces to an old puzzle form a picture that will send a shockwave through the house.
I return for one last mission on familiar ground to bring justice to light. Then I focus on one of the biggest fights Blackstone will ever face.
We call in every favor we are owed because it’s time for revenge.
Eric Noah I am a ghost with a recognizable face racing to cross the border unseen.
Once on home soil, I’m met with confusion and doubt. There’s a lot to explain.
I gather information and continue to watch those who feared me. Secrets spill as tempers rise and the truths start to surface.
I can’t change the past, but I can help mend the future.

Phenomenal! Outstanding! Tango was everything I wanted it to be and so much more. I was not disappointed by the conclusion of the Dark Water series. Ty and Ivy are the ultimate couple and complete each other. Their relationship has grown over the three books: Whiskey, Alpha, and Tango. From the moment they first met, their hearts have been locked on each other. Like anyone else, they have had growing pains, but love wins out. Their journey is poignant, filled with learning moments and heated exchanges that have only cemented their relationship's footings in stone. Ty has become a part of the brotherhood that is part of the mountain, and Ivy has found her place within the foundations as well.
The stress and strain have been building to a crescendo in the safe house. There have been many surprises dealt to the group of "brothers," some that shook them to the core. Like the strong men they are, they have regrouped and confronted each difficulty straight on, never letting adversity set them back. With every encounter that Dark Water and Blackstone have had with the Mexican Cartel, tension builds until it boils over, culminating in the explosive ending that stole my breath away.
This author's words transport me to her interconnected worlds, where I become a part of the cast of characters. I find myself diving deep into the plot and feeling involved in every excursion they take part in. The writing is so realistic that I can hear the bullets whizzing by and feel the intensity of each second when the characters are crouched, hiding behind something for cover. This writer's books have become the measuring stick by which I hold all other military series.
Never have I ever had a book pull so much emotion out of me by the sixth chapter. From page one of broken, we have become so invested in this team, this family....we feel like we have been living right there with them. We were emotionally wrecked when we lost such an important member of the team....but then, then....well, now we are second guessing everything we have ever known or thought we knew. I know this special ops team is more than enough, but then old friends come to visit, and you realize how much more fun the fight can really be. This book was such a fast-paced roller-coaster of emotion that did not come to a complete stop until the last page. Make sure you have time to read, as you will not want to put it down!
The expectation bar was set high with the cliffhanger of Alpha and Tango exceeded it from the very first page. I am in constant awe of Drake’s ability to pull together previous characters we love and seamlessly incorporate them in the now moments! The Dark Water series is addictive, and the final novel, Tango, left me with such a huge book hangover. That ending….
I. L. Drake did it again. She ripped my heart out tore it apart put it back together and gave it back. This book is a roller coaster of emotions. I laughed I most definitely cried. This suspense queen gave me everything I wanted and needed in this book. I love this series so much I don’t want it to end.
J.L. Drake, yet again, has left me wanting more. I can't get enough of the shadows. These guys are so cool and now there is the dark water team I hope we get more tale of them. Love these books.
What a thrilling conclusion to the Dark Water Series.
After the unexpected Cliffhanger of the last book I was on tenderhooks to see what was in store for our Blackstone unit. I was so glad to see that they were all able to get the closure they needed and even though returning from the deäd could have been a situation that would unravel them, they proved that some bonds can withstand everything.
I appreciated that Ty wasn’t quick to welcome him back into the fold as was wary of the new addition back on the mountain which pays homage to his previous experience. However, watching them fight it out in the ring was a delightful surprising scene and through back to Savannah & Cole’s story. As for Ty’s relationship with Ivy you may ask. They made it through the twists and turns and I have to say that their future looks bright. They really did have to fight for their love and relationship to survive the unexpected nature of being apart of this world. Knowing when to compromise so that they didn’t loose the other.
TANGO had everything you needed for the final instalment of this military series with highly classified operatives. J.L. Drake takes you on a journey of intense action, swoony romantic situations and heartstopping / heart breaking moments. She has managed to weave together characters from her other series that mean for readers who may not have gotten to her back list yet will be reaching for them immediately.
Thank you to Jodi for gifting me this ARC. I adored how this series ended and I cannot wait to see where you go next.
"Life might not have turned out how I imagined it would, but maybe there was something still there for me after all"
ERIC ERIC ERIC there was a reason why feel in love with you. However I will miss the bad man image you had to create not going to lie about that. I hope we get a book for Paul because my heart broke for him and all his brothers the Blackstone found love. And he found love Talya but it can't go anywhere both VERY VERY different worlds...no spoilers
Frank is the boss and Cole's father. Frank has done alot of things for good BUT the amount of pressure he put on Paul/Eric. The Blackstone man are a family of brothers and for Paul missing so much of his family broke me. So I am angry with Frank that... no spoilers
My FAVOURITE characters of all time came by the help like always. DEVILS REACH MC and Trigger still dangerous and happy. AND Elio the King of the Mafia world makes appearance which is another bonus !! And Grim is a new character and I want to learn more about him too!
Conclusion I have had heartaches and high blood pressure from all the suspense. Jodi is brilliant at writing light hearted banter which helped break the intense scenes...1 of thise scenes broke me and that's when I got angry at Frank...no spoilers
Will Blackstone with the help of Paul's intel end the cartels trafficking...you have to read it and find out...over and out 😊
I REALLY recommend you read Escape and you will understand Lexi alot more. No spoilers but I am happy that she found the peace. She is a complex heroine &Keith no stopped fighting for her
You know you are over when Teams Blackstone, Dusk, and Dark waters are after YOU. But unlucky for you, they brought some friends! Devils Reach, the Capris, and Eagle Eye are coming along. It’s not just your end, they are there to destroy everything you’ve built. After all, you did kidnap a Blackstone wife, did you expect anything less??
JL Drake absolutely nailed Tango, the last book in the Dark Waters series. Beckett returns to Afghanistan to bring justice to his fallen team member who was killed by their own! Ivy learns what it means to fully step into the Shadows world. Keith is shattered, and a ghost from the Blackstone past comes barreling back in a way NO ONE was expecting. Secrets can never truly be kept permanently. When it comes to light, sometimes, there is hell to pay. Especially when you pick the wrong men to mess with.
I couldn’t have asked for a better ending to this series! There was so many twists and turns, the emotions were going from the first page (literally, she threw you right into the thick of it on page one!) until the very last page. I cried, I laughed, got angry, was happy again, even yelled twice lol! It was that damn good!
Get your tissues ready for this one! Before the first chapter was halfway done, I had that tightening in the back of my throat, preparing for the tears. Once again, this story was beautifully written and answered more questions yet left you with some too. I always love diving into the Blackstone world, and especially with Devils Reach and Quiet Mafia popping in. Thankfully that we get Paul's side of what happened and how hard it was for him to leave his Blackstone family even though he was actually helping them. I tried reading slowly, but I can't help but devour these books, so I'll be re-reading again and again!
The story of Ty and ivy continues, and it doesn’t disappoint. They have so many obstacles to overcome both as individuals and as a couple. After all they have been through the danger is far from over and Ivy shows that she is Ty’s equal partner in every way.
If that isn’t enough Ty and the rest of the team are trying to make peace with the return of someone they never expected to see again and learning what happened and why only makes it more difficult.
Suspense that keeps you on end, surprises you never saw coming and secrets that will have them questioning everything all combine into a captivating story you won’t be able to put down.
This was the perfect ending for this series. All of the characters from past books made appearances. Some got their HEA’s and some didn’t. But Ty and Ivy finally got theirs. Ty had a lot of fighting to do, both physically and mentally, to be able to truly give himself to Ivy but she helped him do it. I can’t wait to see these characters find their way into the next series!
This story was over a emotional roller coaster ride. Ty and Ivy have been thru bumps, and many obstacles. These two have more chemistry than you can imagine and they love so hard. Its so hard to sum this book up but old friends return and the fight is even bigger. Im happy that Ty got his happy with Ivy.
What a end to the series…..I loved it. I was super impressed with all the help our boys got taking out the bad guys and loved remembering each and every book! Can’t wait for the next one!
The final book of the series has all the feels. Make sure you grab your tissues and get ready to go through the end of this wild ride with some of my favorite characters. I can't wait to see what else she has going on. A must-read, don't hesitate to purchase this book!
I was very much looking forward to Tango, and J.L. Drake didn't disappoint. This was a fantastic ending to this series! I still hope we see more of these characters!
4.5 stars—TANGO is the fourth instalment in JL Drake’s contemporary, adult DARK WATER romantic suspense series, a spin off series, interconnected with the author’s BLACKSTONE and BROKEN worlds. This is the continuing story of Major Ty Beckett, and psychiatrist Dr. Ivy Knight. TANGO should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up after the events of books two and three WHISKEY and ALPHA, referencing numerous past missions and plot lines, as well as focusing on the embattled relationship between Lexi and Keith (ESCAPE: Blackstone series 2), and the appearance of someone long thought dead.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from several first person perspectives including Ty, Ivy and Paul, following several paths using present day and memories from the past, TANGO follows in the aftermath of an undercover operation in Mexico where everything spirals out of control. Working undercover in an effort to rescue the most vulnerable from the human trafficking rings in Mexico, several members of Dark Water find themselves struggling in the aftermath of betrayal and vengeance, where one of their own will not survive.
Meanwhile, Major Ty Beckett has proclaimed his love for psychiatrist Dr. Ivy Knight but Ty has unfinished business in Afghanistan, and is desperate to retrieve that which he lost. As the team at Dark Water mourn the loss of one of their own, the reappearance of an another may threaten all sense of trust going forward.
The world building is complex, detailed and therefore, I strongly recommend reading the series in order, as well as the interconnected books. The overarching premise of the Dark Water series is dependant upon knowing about previous events and character involvement in the other series, as well as the building conflict throughout the current timeline.
The relationship between Ty and Ivy continues to grow. Ivy struggles with her attraction to Ty but a proclamation of love and forever pushes our couple together, only to see Ivy struggle with Ty’s need to return to Afghanistan.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and charismatic characters, all of whom we have met, once again, throughout the interconnected series. Some will die, some will return, others will be betrayed by the people they know.
TANGO is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, secrets and lies, love and lost, friendships, relationships and family. The premise is heart breaking, emotional and captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are energetic, dynamic and determined.
This is book 4 in the series and they have to be read in order to understand the story and the plot. This book definitely heats up in intensity both in action in the field and between Dr. Ivy Knight and Major Ty Beckett.
This series is done so well and I am very happy every time that we get a new book. The book is developing the relationship between Ty and Ivy while at the same time continuing a storyline involving Blackstone and both the pasts of Ty and Ivy.
I am very happy with where Ivy and Ty are at and definitely think they are in a good place but I’m sure they will still face some issues coming up.
It was very unfortunate about what happened in Mexico and I know we still may get some more stories because of what happened there. The addition of the new team member will require another story as well as another person perhaps deserving a second chance.
I’m happy for the most part I believe that Ivy’s past is dealt with in a good way but we still need to finish up with Ty’s and things I’m sure will get super tense as I really don’t trust one character and I think he’s super unstable.
I can’t wait to see where the rest of this series goes!
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE AND YES, LOVE the Dark Water series, as J.L. Drake knows how to write exciting suspense stories with a very sexy kicker. I want to say you really need to read them in order, but especially read Alpha (Book 3) before Tango as they go together. Ty is our hero, and he's got some issues from his military days, but that doesn't make him bad, just a bit harder to crack, but our heroine, Ivy, is up for the challenge, and man they're perfect for each other. That's the romance portion of the program, and she has some issues of her own that need to be wrapped up as well. On top of that, there's also Eric's journey which I won't breathe a word of because it's super complicated with layer upon layer so the twists are definitely coming in hot from around every corner so I was on the edge of my seat cover to cover with heart racing. There's also the whole fantastic supporting cast with their pranks that had me laughing when I needed a bit of a break from all the emotions in these pages as well, so honestly, Tango is the perfect story in my eyes! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
What an outstanding end to The Dark Water Series. We get to see how Ivy and Ty become the dedicated and caring couple they grow into through Whiskey, Alpha, and Tango. Along with their journey we get to see how Paul known as Eric to the Mexican Cartel’s underworld finds himself back at Blackstone. The house is put to the test with the loss of one of their own. Ivy overcomes the trauma of her past while Ty learns to allow happiness and love in with his family. Ty shows everyone that he is a natural leader fitting in as leader of Dark Water without issues along with being given the chance to right a wrong. Paul brings the most unexpected moment to the house and each member including the children find a way to cope. When those from other groups come together to fight a common enemy they are able to make a difference with defending those in need. This group of men with high stakes jobs, their string women and precious children live with their secrets everyday they fight, care, find happiness, sadness, fun and love together as one big family!
Tango (Dark Water #4) by J.L. Drake 5 stars due 11/21/23 Ty & Ivy & More
An intense story and series about teams who become families of Dark Ops straddling the line between the law and doing what is necessary. Dealing with Human trafficking is their primary effort. Even the team members don't know it all. The information and plans are all Need-to-Know and few need to know until the mission goes underway.
They live in a home as a big family with bantering, jokes, and so much more between missions. The women and children keep things running and their men happy as much as possible. One of the Psychiatrists is a woman and a team leader who has found love together. As they work out the relationship with the danger of their missions, tragedy hits them as well and a decade-long secret comes to light that could tear the house apart--will it?
It is emotional, steamy, and has amazing characters. I strongly recommend the book and series.
This is book 4 in the series and they have to be read in order to understand the story and the plot.
This book definitely heats up in intensity both in action in the field and between Dr. Ivy Knight and Major Ty Beckett.

I can’t wait to see where the rest of this series goes! It is awesome! 4.5 Stars- Rebecca
This is one of the stories that is so much more than just a love story. It's passion, angst, hardship and a family coming together in whatever way necessary to overcome any trial! Loved it!- Tasha
Where to start without giving anything away! Ty Got the answers he needed and the closer i think that was best, and Ivy how do not just love her and the way she fits into that world of shadows so easily and with all the wife's. Ty and Ivy have this way of just fitting into blackstones world and the tight ties they all have together, they fit so well together after you get to know them. I'm just happy that Ty is Happy, when you first start this series you could almost feel like he was missing apart of himself and other then his team he had no family because he pushed them away. Now he has all his family and more! More brothers and nieces and nephews then he could have ever seen lol
then there Keith wow not sure i was ready for all that to come his way
oh and how will the house handle all that is Eric? Never did I see that coming but it was most defiantly something that i think one that's what makes J. L. Drake My favorite author! Now for the house and team to understand why it had to be this way to the blackstone team just to keep them as safe as possible
so much in one book that answers so many questions but also makes you so sad that this series is over
This is the fourth book in this incredible series, and the perfect finale to this riveling series. Ty and Ivy are a unique couple, whose relationship has grown from strength to strength, and they complete each other. There is a new team member brought into the fold. This is a well written story which is an emotional roller coaster, with danger, intrigue, secrets, twists & turns, revelations, challenges, family, friendships, witty banter, humor, tragedy, romance, heartbreak, and love, which leads to a steamy and thrilling conclusion to this series. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Spectacular conclusion to the Dark Water series! So much action in this one! Plot twists. Humor. and of course the growing passion with Ty and Ivy.
Not much to say without giving things away. You will need to read the 3 previous books and the story line runs through them all. Great group of the men and the strong women who stand with them in the hard work that they do.
So happy to have read this series. Loved how the author pulled in characters from her other books to help support the team!
Great read!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
