Into Darkness: How Jersey and its people survived five years of Nazi occupation

Rate this book
Abandoned by the British, occupied by the Germans, the people of Jersey endured five long years of repression, hunger and uncertainty.
Some sacrificed their lives for others; some betrayed their neighbours for money or food.
While slaves toiled to carve tunnels deep underground, brave resistance groups plotted escape or insurrection.
Into Darkness tells their story, and the story of the island, between Occupation and Liberation. From bombs to bunkers, action to apathy, jackboots to Jerrybags, discover how Jersey survived under Nazi rule.

An good insight into the history of the islanders and the island of Jersey during the second World War. Having visited recently and been in the war tunnels it put it more in to perspective and real.
