A Whitlow is missing, and the quest to find her takes Tula and her sisters to a dangerous and magical island off the coast of Savannah. She'll need to survive an unearthly hoard, a disappearing sun, spirits gone mad, alligators, and maybe the scariest of all, a group of drunken thespians.
In the search for her cousin, Tula will begin to scratch the surface of a mystery that could destroy the thing she holds most dear - her own birthright as a Whitlow. What she's learned could open up access to a power she never believed was possible. But it's a power born of darkness, and touching it comes at a cost.
Just fantastic. This is the third book in this series and each one is better than the last. I’m very excited to see where this is going. This is Urban Fantasy meets X-Files but the investigator is a member of the paranormal community.
I love Willa Blackmore’s writing style. I find myself drawn into her world and the character development throughout these books has been excellent. The story has subtle ties to the first ones and we are starting to see the bigger picture now. What had seemed to be local events in books one and two now appear to have been part of a far larger plan.
I love the ending of this book. Massive twist. No spoilers here but I really didn’t see this ending coming and I am so excited to read the next book.
The reading order for this series so far:
Book 1, Invasion Book 2, Undertow Book 3, Masquerade
I can't exactly put a finger to what's cooled me toward this particular book. I guess it's the details. Does Tula drink or doesn't? Could the author research more into cat rescuing? No more happy-endings for everyone? What's the story behind Tula's fear of alligators, frogs etc.? Still resorting to easy solutions for disposing of demons and bad guys. Putting Victor in the story where the sole purpose of him being in it, is to explain his backstory and him to carry Pierce from A to B. It just felt the story was rushed, written on a short deadline. Probably it's just my own grumpiness. The story as a whole is developing nicely. We get a glimpse into Tula's background, a promise of more secrets and family dynamics to come in the next books.
Willa Blackmore’s latest (hopefully not last!?!) Carolina File book is all about Savannah and its rich history and extended family. Tula is there writing a book and visiting relatives when she can including her cousin who sings in a band. When her cousin goes missing Tula and her sisters along with friends and frenemies come together to travel to a small island which is a center for blackness and evil in the area. Old secrets are revealed and the sisters do everything they can to save their cousin, themselves and other innocents from an evil they know intimately. Great series and I can’t wait for more from this author.
This is an amazing series. This is absolutely an amazing series due to the characters. Tula is wonderful.I like that she's not perfect. This adds more intrigue to the entire world and I can't wait to see more of it. I truly hope that there are more books in In this series.
As usual Willa Blackmore books are great reads. Not to fantastical, that you can’t believe them, not immoral so as you wouldn’t let your kids read it. Plot is always great, Blackmore is a smooth writer and puts her words down on paper that it seems like you’re gliding over smooth glass. I love her books. Will keep reading her books for sure.
When Tula visits Savannah, her cousin goes missing and she and her sisters attempt to find her. This installment of the series continues with the paranormal horror style. It adds southern gothic with the drama and history of Savannah. There’s plenty of family drama and back story that keeps readers enthralled.
This was a definite creeper! Tula and the gang have a spooky visit to a strange island (kinda like Scooby-Doo and the gang). More magic encountered here than the characters are prepared for. Well done!
I really like the Whitlow witches. This book was good but, some of it seems almost too fantastical to me. With that said, I will be reading the next in series. 4 out of 5 stars because somthings were just too farfetched.
This series is so interesting. I know how the book will end, but I don't know the journey it will take me on to get there. I'm looking forward to reading the next.
