Van Gogh

Rate this book
Vincent van Gogh has long since achieved iconic status and, although during his own lifetime he could not sell a painting, today even one of his smallest sketches is worth a fortune. This title features some of his most notable works, including the 'Sunflowers' series.

The author stayed very much true to historical time lines and every claim made was confirmed accurate by Vincent's letters to Theo (his brother) himself.
I liked the various paintings and sort of back storys to many of them, included in this deliciously big book.
So overall if you are interested in the life of Mr. Van Gogh, then this would be a lovely choice to immerse yourself into his tumultuous life.

The size of the font is small, but the text relates a compelling story of the artist. Good-sized pictures of many of Van Gogh's paintings.

Works well as both a Van Gogh biography and an art book. The text covers Van Gogh's life and influences in good detail while a large number of pictures are included, with analysis, background, and enlarged details on some. Other books will have larger, better images or a more thorough life story, but it's probably hard to find something better at both than this.
