“I tell you, sometimes I believe in fate, the kind that bites you in the butt at the most inopportune moment.” - Jeremy Vega -
A man of honor, Agent Jeremy Vega is always striving to make the right decisions. Whether in his professional or private life, they are one and the same to him. So as not to jeopardize her happiness, and to the detriment of his own, he never gets to know his fourteen-year-old daughter Audrey.
But fate intervenes and becomes the director when a series of events takes over. Within a short amount of time, not only Jeremy’s job is at stake, but also the lives of those he loves, including his very own child.
Amid all the turmoil, there’s a ray of William Powell. The man who hasn’t left his thoughts for months suddenly reappears out of nowhere.
Within the blink of an eye life can take an unexpected turn.
I live with my family in the south of Germany. Our son is now grown up, sought the distance a few years ago and my husband I regularly lock in the garage to his motorcycles to have my peace. As you can see, my humor takes some getting used to. No seriously, we love and respect each other and I am grateful every day anew to know him by my side.
Under the pseudonym Nele Betra I write romantic stories in different genres as well as genre mixes.
At the beginning of 2014 I had a spontaneous idea: I could write a story. So I sat down and just did it. No one could have even guessed what that would mean for me and my future.
In the meantime, I've given up my job and work as a freelance author - a fact that I enjoy to the full after thirty years of working in the private sector. I certainly won't take the freedom that comes with it for granted.
As you can see, I don't belong to the species of author who has been writing down stories since childhood. A hobby turned into a vocation. On days when I'm not sitting at the computer breathing life into my protagonists, I really realize that.
My stories evolve during the writing process, which always makes it exciting for me, because I almost never know beforehand in which direction a plot will develop. Sure, I know the novel's heroes at the beginning, and they end up finding happiness together, but as the saying goes, the journey is the destination. They love each other. They hate each other. Fate - or rather I turn their lives upside down, make them tumble over imaginary precipices to catch them with a happy ending.
For me, there is nothing better than to emotionally abduct my readers and immerse them in the world of my protagonists. Nevertheless, I try to address important and sometimes serious issues and make them thought-provoking. But not without conveying a certain lightness. In my eyes, life is also not always sky-high or sad to death. Everything is in balance. Drama, love, lust, humor, suspense are the ingredients with which I spice my novels. I am only satisfied when the book is closed at the end with a relieved sigh and people are happy that everything turned out well in the end; I was able to give a few hours of joy.
This is the second book of the Three Friends series. Jeremy is a highly trained agent who is dedicated to his job and the cases he tackles with the FBI. When he learns he is the father of a teenaged girl, he makes the decision to stay away, but things happen, and he feels compelled to protect his daughter. When Jeremey meets William, a reporter involved in covering a case he was working on, the two work together and in doing so, get closer and start to fall for each other.
I really liked this book. It had several elements that together, made the book very exciting, but not too off putting with too much violence, which I like. It had a mystery, romance, a little bit of drama, and some intrigue thrown in for good measure. The book is well written and a great sequel. I recommend reading the series in order because there are details in the first about a past event that is good to know for this book.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Exciting! Agent Jeremy livs a righteous life, dedicated and committed. Then he learns he has a teenager, which complicates his plans. He feels the need to protect his 14yo daughter, Audrey. William's good friends with Carlo, who secretly crushes on him. Carlo is a good ally.William, is an editor at the Chronicle hoping to do research with Jeremy's help. William, gets pulled into Jeremy's case. Jeremy and William navigate getting to know each other among job complications and suspicious work colleagues. Can Jeremy and William discern who is on their side? This is an exciting action, adventure life and death mystery. Jeremy and William move along a lot faster than just getting to know each other. The supporting characters are fun and funny and the MC are awesome! Well done! I received an ARC an am voluntarily leaving a review.
I just couldn’t get into this book😞 I really liked first book in the series though. A okay start as William is out with his friends at a karaoke bar about to surprise his 2 friends. A series focused on 3 friends, William, Carlo and Peter to find their happiness. William a journalist and now an inspiring writer? Detective Jeremy is investigating stolen property, but gets sidetracked by a past investigation. The start is okay but didnt drawn me in to the story the way it’s written. Jeremy gets derailed by a meeting he wasn’t expecting with the extra guests at the table. A past case of the detective is being written by Jeremy which didn’t come across right, as being sprung by Peter. Sorry I really tried with this book but I gave up partway into the story.
This is the story of Jeremy and William, it is the 2nd book in the Three Friends Trilogu. As with the first book in the trilogy, I love this book. It is written wonderfully with great main and secondary characters. With each book it gets better and better. The danger and mystery will keep you turning the pages, not to mention the steamy moments. Can't wait to see what happens next. Definitely recommended.
I received this book as an Arc and I am happily reviewing it voluntarily.
This books definitely flowed better than book 1. I loved William in the previous book so was glad to get his story. There was great chemistry between both MC's when they got together, but, unfortunately, their love story gets tangled up in a FBI investigation. This boight great narration and was a really enjoyable story. However, I really needed William and Jeremy to have more sex scenes. It just wasn't enough for me to believe they got so close so quickly with only the odd sneaky kiss. I am looking forward to reading about Carlo.
He works hard and treats his life the same way. He has never met or had any meetings with his 14 year old daughter. Life is about to change when danger threatens not only him but those around him. Will he find someone to love? Will he finally meet his daughter? How will that go? Can he keep everyone safe? See if this change will wake him up to what is right in front of him
This is the story of Jeremy and William, it is the 2nd book in the Three Friends series. Having read and enjoyed the first book I was looking forward to reading this. The danger and mystery will keep you turning the pages. Jeremy and William work so well together, their chemistry is right on point. I'm looking forward to the next book.
I am really enjoying this series. This book was better than the first one. I liked reading about William and Jeremy. Audrey and Brody were a great addition and having Peter, Chase & Maggie a part of it to was nice. I'm looking forward to reading Carlo's story next. Highly recommend this series. I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.
When I read about William and Jeremy in the first book I had no idea that they would be such an amazing couple. On the surface, a news editor and an FBI agent don't seem like they would belong together. But these men have awesome. I loved that they bonded so quickly. And the thriller element to the story was a nice way to balance the love story
I enjoyed this one a lot more than book one. I did still have a few issues with this though. I still did enjoy the story and I'm interested in getting to book three.
I liked this book even better than the first, great main and secondary characters, romance, danger, new family and found family, that will keep you turning the pages
I really enjoyed this action story about MCs William and Jeremy and how they manage the dangerous life of being secret agents, all while sharing witty banter along the way. I was very entertained from the beginning to the end, and highly recommend this steamy adventure!
Okay...first off, I wish I'd read the first book in the series. There are just enough references to past event that I think I would have enjoyed this more. But that's no fault of the author, just my own.
This was an exciting mystery initially centered around the FBI office in San Francisco investigating art theft. When Jeremy, the agent in charge becomes aware of machinations behind the scenes by one of the other agents in his department, office politics and intrigue take an equally fascinating part of the plot.
This coupled with the discovery of a previously unknown 14 year old daughter, meeting a handsome reporter and the danger presented to all makes for an exciting story.
Plus the romance is something you won't want to miss.
I enjoyed the mystery and the suspense around what was happening in the FBI office in this one and how despite Jeremy's best efforts to protect those he cares about they are put in danger. The way he and William get together both romantically and working to solve the mysteries made for a great story. It made for an interesting dynamic that and FBI agent and a reporter would need to share information and work closely togetherr.
wieder ein tolles Buch und eine super Geschichte von Nele, grossartig geschrieben, mit viel Romantik und noch mehr Spannung, in einem Rutsch zu lesen, d.h. von mir eine 100%ige Leseempfehlung
