I hate his pretty lips. I hate how good they taste.
Theo He’s the most infuriating, immature frat brat I’ve ever had the misfortune of coming across. Again. He’s also the guy I dumped in high-school when I realized I was straight after all. And he just so happens to be the intern at his dad’s company; the very same one I work for. A terrible misunderstanding puts Justin Lewis into my care. I’m supposed to teach him how his father’s business works. But he’s determined to do it the hard way. Four years ago, after breaking his heart, I experienced what Justin’s hatred could do. He ruined the final weeks of high-school for me. He scared me into skipping my prom night. No more. I’m not that frightened kid anymore. I’ve come far without anyone’s help and I’m not letting one begrudging ex ruin all that I’ve achieved. If only he wasn’t so irresistible when he pouted. If only I could stop leaning in to catch his scent. If only I wasn’t about to make the same mistake all over again.
Justin It was supposed to be simple; do the internship, make Dad happy, and go away to lick my wounds. I’m sick of the way I live, but a terrible breakup from four years ago still haunts me. Until I start my internship and discover there’s Theo Wright in my office. Or am I an his office? Depends on who you ask. The guy hates me and I know why. But I hate him just as much. He wrecked me for good when he turned suddenly straight after one encounter and I never trusted another guy since. If I’m going to earn my ticket out, I need to do this boring internship. And Theo just so happens to be the only thing to help me pass the time. Annoying him is my new, favorite hobby. Until I take it a step too far. And he blushes like a maiden. And my heart nearly explodes. Maybe there’s more to him than I let myself believe. The way he looks at me while we work is almost enough to give me a glimmer of hope. If I was foolish enough, I might try something that could burn down in flames again. Oh, who am I kidding? I’ve always been foolish enough.
The Office Nemesis Calamity is the seventh novel in the Frat Brats of Santa Barbara series, but it can be read on its own. Expect hundreds of pages of grumpy-versus-grumpy banter, through-the-roof steam, two sworn enemies giving each other a second chance, and a sweet farewell to the Highgate Academy.
That was an odd story. Sure, all books in this series are a bit over the top. But this one even stands out from the others. It's a story about two guys, Theo and Justin, who dated in high school. But when Theo is confused about his sexuality and they break up, Justin is resentful and he and his buddies start bullying and harassing Theo. This, along with his religious family, forces Theo to move away and start a new life of his own. Years later they meet again and after some bickering they end up together real quick.
I don't like stories with bullies very much. And bullies-to-lovers even less. But the way it's handled in this book is extremely unpleasant. At no point Justin and his buddies apologize properly. It's not even acknowledged but downplayed as pranks. A best-of-video of these pranks is even used in the grand gesture of the third-act-break-up-make-up scene and it's weird and unsettling.
Also Theo's confusion about his sexuality isn't handled well. He didn't have a label for it and therefore didn't enjoy sex. But as soon as he got a label he suddenly was cured and became sex-crazy. And, on a side note, I don't think "pan" is proper label for his sexuality. Not enjoying sex with anyone except you have a special connection to that person sounds more like "demi".
Overall I still somehow enjoyed the story. It has its funny moments, both Theo and Justin are likeable characters, and, since it's the last book in the series, there's a big back-for-the-finale with all protagonists of the previous books.
"Every shred of him pulled me in. Every cell of his body attracted me. Every inch made me lust like I’d never lusted before."
The Office Nemesis Calamity by Hayden Hall is the 7th (and last) book in his low angst, fun and lovable Frat Brats of Santa Barbara series. This is Theo and Justin's story.
We briefly met Justin in earlier books, as this is a series of linked 'standalones', involving a group of friends who have all attended the same top-end college, Highgate Academy. Justin had apparently had his heart broken at some stage and was living his best life as a 'one and done', love 'em and leave 'em pro.
Until his path crosses once again with that very same heartbreaker Theo, who had thought he wanted a gay relationship with Justin but as soon as things started to get intimate, decided he was straight after all. Turns out that maybe Theo isn't so straight, when they have their second-chance encounter, working together in the same office.....
I have enjoyed every book in this wonderful series and can highly recommend if you love:
❣️MM ❣️Enemies to lovers ❣️Second chance ❣️Office romance ❣️Steamy times ❣️Low angst
Usually, second chance is not my cup of tea, but Hayden wrote this one, so how could I not give it a chance? Damn, Hayden, you proved me wrong. Theo and Justin are freaking adorable when they both finally decide to give it a go. To talk and listen. There were times when I wanted to shake Justin and tell him to stop bullying poor Theo, but I understand his "revenge", why he did what he did. And Theo, his self-discovery was such a heavy journey. I felt like hugging him every time he struggled. I loved Justin's dad, his acceptance and love for his son. I'm sad this was the last book of the series, but I'm hoping to read more about three certain fu*kboys. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This was a great end to a series. In this book we meet Theo and Justin who had a short relationship in high school which ended badly when Justin told Theo he was straight. Theo didn't take it well and made made life difficult for Justin. Fast forward a few years and Justin is work for Theo's dad and Theo is his new apprentice. It quickly becomes there are unresolved issues between them. Theo is still in love with Justin and Justin isn't as straight as he thought. I enjoyed reading about their story back together again and meeting the other couples again.
The idea of second chances, the tension of hate turning into sexual tension, that was nice. Good smut. Had to suspend disbelief a little bit about Theo really thinking he was straight for a bit. Also Justin really seemed flighty and like he had no idea what he wanted in life, and that made it seem like he really couldn't make it work with serious Theo. Not sure the time jump even reassured me, because we couldn't really see what changed in his life, what career he was passionate about for himself.

Another day, another author crossed off my to-binge list. This is Hayden Hall's Frat Brats of Santa Barbara series. The seventh novel is "The Office Nemesis Calamity." ["I hate his pretty lips. I hate how good they taste.

Let's just call this demisexual-awakening. Because, that's what it was and is (spoiler alert I guess--for those super interested in those). Or pansexual. Hayden used pan (attracted to the person, not the gender), but I see Thro more as demi (needing a connection first). Or like...both? Though that intense-as-fuck internalized homophobia didn't help (or the homophobic father) Theo figure himself out at all.
Either way, these two were explosive. And once they kissed again? Like, fuck. Que fireworks and butterflies and all that jazz. Then some embarassment. Then some confrontation. Then some...well, they finally started to actually communicate at that point (and not communicate at that point..if you know what I mean).
Very, very cute and fun (and a lot less angsty than I assumed) end to the Frat Brats of Santa Barbara series.
I have read this series since its prequel, and although they are low angst books, easy to read, with funny situations, etc., each one of them contributed something to me. Each of them shows a different facet, shows a different journey for each protagonist, with different realities and obstacles to face, and despite the fact that they come from wealthy environments, their lives have not been easy for that.
In this last instance, what I was left with is how one can hurt a person, without even having that intention. On the contrary, thinking that one is showing them the way. In this case I mean Theo and his parents.
His life in his house, the teachings of his parents marked him in such a way that he practically erased a part of himself. It's not that he hid it, it's not that he buried it deep within himself. He directly deleted it. With great consequences, such as hurting Justin and the consequent pranks from him and his friends, even the fact that the only thing Theo focused on was his studies and work. And it also caused him to want to cut ties with his family. Even though he didn't understand himself, he knew that there was something that wasn't letting him fully live.
And then we have Justin. I can't say that I approve of how he behaved with Theo, but I can say that I understand. Feeling used is not something that a person assimilates easily. Add a broken heart to that anger, and the fact that the transition from adolescence to adulthood is not easy, and you have a recipe for disaster. The situation with Theo left Justin with a bitter taste that he couldn't shake, even four years later.
And then, the reunion. Something that shakes them both, and although at first they practically couldn't bear to be in each other's presence, the attraction ended up being stronger, which made both of them, each on their own, go on a good introspective journey. Especially Theo.
It is always sad to say goodbye to characters that became endearing to you, whom you got to know more than well because they appeared throughout the books over and over again, revealing slices of their lives.
I hope soon to see the three remaining f*kboys appear in a spin off or whatever. Please Hayden Hall. I need it!!
I was given an advanced copy and wrote a voluntarily review.
I know I’m not the only person who spent the “Bedroom Coach Agreement” thinking that Justin was a total twat, but we finally get to see what made him that way in the dénouement of the Frat Brats series. A dénouement that I’m sad is upon us.
Theo has overly religious parents. Justin has overly rich parents. Theo’s father has made it clear that he wouldn’t approve of Theo being gay. Justin’s parents have made it clear that they don’t care if he’s gay. Theo has had the hots for Justin for most of Senior Year. Justin has had the hots for Theo for all of high school. They date, in secret, Justin is sweet, fun and happy. Theo is stressed, internally homophobic and unhappily happy. He ends their relationship by telling Justin that he was an experiment. He is sure to break Justin’s heart so that Justin doesn’t ever hope for a reconciliation. Theo isn’t gay, he was just testing the waters and felt absolutely nothing for Justin.
Thus awakens the beast that is the Justin we got a clearer image of in his brother & best friend’s story. Though he refuses to admit that Theo broke his heart, it’s what happened. Justin is now the king of hookups. Relationships and feelings just open you up for hurt and he never wants to go through that again.
Imagine both Justin AND Theo’s surprise when they realize that Justin is going to be Theo’s intern at Justin’s father’s company, with Justin not even knowing that Theo worked there. Justin decides to pick up where they left off in high school – him torturing Theo with pranks and Theo getting flustered from fright. Luckily neither man feels anything for the other. There’s no love lost because they didn’t love each other. They’re not attracted to one another. They don’t want Justin to be Theo’s first time, to declare their love and to travel the world together. Nope. Not one bit.
This is the finale to the Frat Brats series, and I've read a couple of the previous books but not all. This is Justin and Theo's story. I really struggled with the start of this book, not going to lie. My biggest problem was that I just didn't like Justin all that much, really. For most of the book he was a selfish, self-absorbed spoiled child who turned to bullying when he didn't get his own way. I get that what Theo did in high school by breaking up was not great, but to turn to bullying someone so badly they were terrified they'd be outed and possibly thrown out of his own family, and to the point he didn't go to his own graduation was NOT OK by me. And then to keep all those videos of said bullying all these years, I thought that was horrific too. Justin then carried on that pattern of behaviour when he met Theo again in the office, hounding him to the point he quit a job he loved. NOT OK.
He showed little to no remorse either, and for me, he didn't fully redeem himself. It was Theo who made this book for me. He was really struggling with his identity and yes, he could have done more but who at 18 really knows themself? He was having such a difficult time and continued to all through college. I guess I just don't understand the dynamic of falling for someone who terrified you so badly. What did redeem things for me was once they actually did talk and Justin understood better, he did grow up a little and change for the better. Together they were sweet, and hot and did work as a couple. The last third of the book I liked much better (although I was still coloured by not liking Justin all that much).
In summary it was a nice wrap up to the series, and while I hadn't read the whole series it was good to see the other couples with their HEA too, tying up little ends and it was a satisfying ending on the whole.
Firstly let me say I got this book off gay romance reviews and this is me leaving my honest review. i’ve got to say I thoroughly enjoyed this book there is so much uncertainty for Theo who grew up with very strict religious family, who wouldn’t understand that Theo was gay so when he starts a relationship with Justin he’s not 100% certain. So after two months he ends up putting a stop to it. Justin had wanted Theo for so long so when they finally start a relationship in high school he was over the moon only two months later he put a stop to it and broke his heart. He and his friends when after Him, humiliating Theo at school for revenge. The only problem is now four years later he finds that Theo is his boss in his fathers company. And those feelings haven’t gone away. Seeing Justin again has Theo going into overdrive especially as Justin seems to think that teasing him is the way to go. And in all honesty it works and after Theo has a talk with an old friend he understands more about his sexuality. But he can’t take the teasing anymore and find himself quitting the job that he absolutely adores. Justin goes round to his house to drop off his glasses, and to talk him into coming back to the company and before they know it they are arguing which leads into a kiss. And all those old feelings come flooding back and they start a thing. It’s 0 to 100 straight away these two just hate being apart but can we make a go of this relationship?? I absolutely adored Justin he is just so cute and funny and loving, Justin goes Allin. And his feelings for Theo are just so deep. The passion these two share and the chemistry is just absolutely delicious. They really do make a lovely couple and I really enjoyed seeing Theo come out of his shell more with the help from Justin. He was all work but then started to really enjoy his free time. As with all of Hayden’s books I can see myself reading this one again. Really enjoyable and it was so addictive I really struggle putting it down.
This book made me feel a lot of things. Mostly good things but still there were some bad.
When i read the last book in this series, I was rooting for Justin hardcore. I wanted him to find the person that makes him want to leave his fuckboy ways behind and never turn back. I figured it would be Justin with someone that he meets for the first time, tries to distance himself because 'he doesn't want to love again', but then fall head over heels in love. That is pretty much what I was expecting. That is not what we get. AND THATS OKAY. Just because it wasn't what i was expecting, doesn't mean its bad.
In this book, we have Theo and Justin. Theo and Justin dated briefly in high school until Theo broke up with Justin due to his issues with his sexuality, in regards to his family. He is extremely remorseful when he breaks up with Justin but that doesn't matter because Justin then decides to recruit his friends to make Theo's life miserable until they graduate.
Flash forward to years later when the two are in college and working an internship at Justin's father's company. Justin is forced to face his feelings that never really went away, and Theo is forced to face his sexuality regardless of how scary it is.
Justin and Theo are pretty sweet, however, I couldn't really get over the fact that Justin tormented Theo. Theres never really an apology or an understanding of what Theo had to go through between high school and his father.
If you can look past that though, this is a pretty good book. Not as good as some of the others in the series but definitely not bad.
It is with a heavy heart we say goodbye to our favourite lothario frat brats of Santa Babara as they have all fallen in battle. Now we learn why Justin became the player he was known for of Highgate for four years….
“ I’m not gay, Justin”
Theo Write said these words to Justin Lewis after endless flirting in the locker room and then persuing of Justin which led to them being together for two months and then before graduation he uttered those words that broke Justin’s heart-
And so Theo’s last days of school turned into hell with Justin’s revenge in place….
Now four years later their paths cross again as Theo is Justin’s intern mentor at his fathers firm….
Their journey begins here with their old insecurities and feelings resurfacing , and they say payback is a bitch….
It was funny and sweet how they taunted each other with innuendos, banter and then flirtations!
The question remained in Justin’s mind was Theo really straight?
It was amazing how ones mind can convince themselves that they are straight for four years- in Theo’s case…. Fear of being disowned.
Their journey to happiness was not easy as they both wanted different things in life- Theo wanted to reach partnership at the company within five years and Justin wanted to take a gap year to travel the world - but maybe love will find a way….
We see a lot of cameo appearances from our boys with their partners with an awesome epilogue!
I voluntarily received an ARC from GRR for an honest review.
I haven't read all of the Frat Brats, but I've picked up a few here and there and every time I have the same feeling towards them. They're fun reads with fun characters and a bit of instalove thrown in.
I was pleasantly surprised by The Office Nemesis Calamity for deviating ever so slightly from that formula. There's not an instalove between Theo and Justin. Instead, we have some bad history from senior year in high school, forced proximity, a lot of annoying each other, and a decent pace burn when they finally remove their heads from their asses.
This was a very character driven story, but it feels like its Theo that drives the story the most. It is Theo that broke things off with Justin in high school. It is Theo who has the crisis of sexuality as an adult. It is Theo with the most to lose if things go wrong in this relationship. Even most of the scenes between them take place in Theo's space - his office (which they share), his studio apartment, etc. That doesn't mean that Justin doesn't have a voice or anything. He very much does. Theo just drives the plot more.
The book is very well written. It ties off the series nicely. Its got the right level of spice, very low angst despite some of the themes, and is just a good time.
Content warnings: Theo does have some religious trauma and internalized homophobia.
This is the 7th book in the Frat Brats of Santa Barbara series but can be read as a standalone. I hadn’t previously read any of the books in the series but I was drawn in by the blurb and the enemies to lovers trope, which is my absolute favorite. I think it went well reading it on its own, but characters and couples from the previous books make appearances so those will probably be more appreciated if you’ve read the earlier books.
This was a lovers to enemies to lovers romance with ex-boyfriends meeting again after 4 years and a load of hurt and anger between them. I could see both sides and both of their hurt. They used to be teammates but after a hurtful breakup, some sexual confusion, and mean pranks, they haven’t seen each other in 4 years until they both have internships at the same place, with one of them as the supervisor and the other as the boss’s son.
I really liked the dynamic and the mix of emotions, funny antics and teasing. I would have liked a bit deeper dwelling into their hurt and how they both carried insecurities. I would say that it was fairly low angst, but still some of it.
And even though I haven’t read the previous books, I really like the found family trope so I love the cameos from earlier couples.
This book concludes the series and it has been fantastic so it feels bitter sweet. There was definitely a feeling of wrapping up loose ends and catching up with previous characters so HEA's for all of the couples. This story started off with so much tension buzzing between the two MC's. Theo was so confused with his feelings and probably didn't even notice his internalised homophobia. Justin was hurt so acted up in a way only a brat can. When they are forced to work in close proximity feelings come back out to play. There were some humorous moments and lots of bickering that disguised the foreplay, which is what it really was. Lots of sexual tension flying around, leading to self discovery. This was a fun book to read; in keeping with the series, the characters were really likeable and believable. Despite the bickering, this is a low angst story; easy to read, hard to leave. I am sad the series has finished for pure selfish reasons that the books were brilliant. This is an author I will be following and look forward to future work. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I have loved each of the Frat Brat books, but The Office Nemesis Calamity is really special. Second chance romances usually aren't my favorite troupe, but this one just worked for me.
Justin had his heart broken by Theo in high school when after secretly dating for two months, Theo announced that he wasn't gay. Justin then proceeded to prank him and make his life miserable for the last few weeks of their senior year.
Justin spent the next four years having fun in college and not developing any serious romantic relationships. Theo spent the next four years focused on studying and working on his career so he could pay back his father who financed his education, but never approved of Theo.
When Theo finds himself in charge of Justin's internship four years later, sparks fly. At times, I wanted to give both Theo and Justin a hug as they worked through their past and figured out who they wanted to be in the future.
I loved seeing the other Frat brats again and am sad this is the last book in the series. I am looking forward to reading whatever Hayden Hall has planned next.
I received an advance review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.
Another very good story in this amazing series. The daddy issues made me cry.
Theo and Justin are fleshed-out characters and have amazing banter, though sometimes I think Justin was a bit too mean, especially in the past - I would have called that bullying.
I wish the teasing at the office would have gone on a little longer. What's more, as soon as they get intimate, the reader never gets to see them together at the office anymore. I still wonder what Justin did there all day.
Another thing that nagged me was that a lot of months that they were together were summarized. I also can't believe that after all the time they were together, they never talked about their future, and that it was so easy to say goodbye.
I wish I could have enjoyed this more but I missed the dreamy, romantic writing style from the beginning of this series. Moreover, I have a serious problem with stories that . This book is a sharp contrast from the start of the series.
‘I wanted to fight him; I wanted to kiss him; I wanted to beg him to forgive me; I wanted to blame him. And I never knew which one might prevail if I stood a bit too close to him.’
Hayden Hall’s The Office Nemesis Calamity is a bittersweet story of longing and lust and love. We are heavily invested in the Frat Brats of Santa Barbara, so watching Justin semi-self destruct after his heart has been broken is an emotional experience for Hall’s reader/fans!
Learning the reasons that Theo has, and continues to made the choices he does certainly sheds new light on this tumultuous relationship. But Hayden is able to move us front and center, so close we can FEEL the pain AND the pleasure when Justin and Theo must work together. And especially when their feelings for each other, buried so very deeply, begin to bubble up and escape.
This book is also the bittersweet ending to the joyful ride that Hayden Hall took us on, throughout the Frat Brat series!
So yes, there are tears of both joy and sorrow. Because we always love a Happily Ever After, even if we must say goodbye.
Thank You Hayden, for introducing us to your boys, and letting us get to know and love them.
While my heart is actively grieving because this series has now come to its end, I couldn't of been more happy with this finale.
Justin and Theo's chemistry was off the charts! Every time they were in a room together, I was either laughing, panting, swooning, or crying, and I was loving every second of it! And the backstory that made them even require that second chance, made my heart ache. I'm just glad that Theo was able to work through his feelings and that things worked out for both of them in the end because these two were made for each other.
And that epilogue...*chefs kiss*. Hayden found the absolute perfect way to say goodbye to all of these boys.
So, while I'm saddened to see my favorite series so far from Hayden, and one of my favorite series EVER, come to an end, I look forward to what else he's going to deliver.
Until then, farewell boys. I've loved you for 9 months already and I know I'll love you forever. *Runs off crying*
Sad this is the end of the series but what a way to go out
I've loved this series from the very beginning and it just kept getting better. This is definitely my new favourite couple, with Justin completely capturing my heart now he finally gets to tell his story. Justin and Theo love to hate each other but hate to love each other, each constantly present in the other's thoughts despite not seeing each other for four years. Justin's hurt has been apparent through the series with his sexual history, the ultimate one and done of all his gang, and now we learn why. Hayden, after six books, you had me at Justin. He was so much sweeter and more romantic than I expected and I loved everything about him. Theo was a much tougher sell but you won me over eventually. Seeing all seven couples together was the best payoff possible, and Justin and Theo's own HEA was perfect, both for them and to end the series.
Worse first day at new job, EVER! Justin and Theo knew each other in high school. Theo was in the closet and asked Justin to keep their relationship a secret. Then Theo decided he wasn't gay after all. He was dragging heavy baggage that contributed to his confusions and uncertainties. He broke up with Justin and broke them both. Justin vowed to ruin Theo's life. Theo spends his life riddled in guilt. Years later, Justin is assigned as an intern working under Theo. Fun read watching Justin and Theo maneuver through the puzzle of personal and professional lives. Can Justin and Theo work for the same company, through his internship? Will Justin get to pursue his dreams? Will Theo reach his ambitions? Will they make peace with each other? Fun story. Sometimes it took a bit before I could figure out who was talking, otherwise good family and friend support. Nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The Office Nemesis Calamity is book 7 in the Frat Brats Series and the final book. I was not disappointed one bit with this read. We have a mixture of all sorts. High School boyfriends that seemed to be going well until Theo dumped Justin unexpectedly and he took it quite bad. He felt used and seemed kind of brutal. Justin ended up doing things to make Theo feel just a little of how he felt. Years later their forced to work together at Justin’s fathers firm. Things are tense and old feelings are not forgotten. There’s a lot of hurt that they both need to get over. I now have a complete better understanding for the guy. I was so intrigued in the other books to why he would only ever want one night with anyone. I now understand where that come from and feel really bad for him. A great finish to the series and would definitely recommend reading. Best enjoyed in order but can be read alone.
Justin is such a selfish brat. Even his heartbreak over Theo was childish and selfish.
And Theo....he couldn't....until he did....kind of abrupt.
I really wanted to love this more but I felt there were things missing and lost opportunities.
Justin's pain after Theo's rejection was a major blow and he lived the next 4 years based on that pain, Theo on the other hand, had deep and dark reasons for rejecting Justin, and suffered greatly at a very vulnerable age at the hands of Justin and his friends. My thoughts are that these were very easily wiped over almost to the point of not being important. That right there felt lazy on the author's part.
I know these books all had a point of being on the lighter side, but still, I feel the story could have been richer.
That all said, I really did love the book. Theo? I liked, Justin? not so much as I stated above. But...that epilogue was an All Star event worth all the stars.
I always finish Hayden Hall books with a smile on my face, this was no exception.
So we FINALLY have Justins story, and know why he was so dead set against falling in love. Simple, he had always been in love and never lost it. No matter how much he hurt because of Theo, he had never gotten over him. Theo, he broke my heart. In trying to do what his family wanted, and what the love of his life wanted, he was ripping himself in two. All this at a time where, teens are already questioning everything about themselves and who they are, the added pressure means he missed critical feelings.
While I dont agree with bullying.... some of the pranks Justin and his crew pulled on Theo were funny, though childish attempts for Justin to keep Theos attention on him.
This series was a bit of a hit or miss for me. However, reading this last story and looking back to the previous ones, I will admit that it was mostly a hit. I never really liked the Frat Brats as characters. They were definitely redeemed by their choice of a partner and how they treated them. Are they still Frat Brats? Maybe. But likable ones that you wish will include you in their tight little circle. This last book is a glorious farewell to this series and I'm happy Justin and Theo's story was last. Second chances are the best and those two deserve to be together. Justin is the sweetest when Theo is concerned and I always like it when the MCs are already in love and suddenly that hits them in the face out of the blue.
We had fun Boys, let's see what else Hayden has in store for us.
This has been one of the best series I have read and am sad to see it end, but if it had to end, this book is the perfect ending. Book seven wraps up this series with story to Theo and Justin. It is full of steam, grumpiness, forgiveness, sarcasm, and bantering. I love how knowing their story (high school break up) as it gave their second chance encounter more depth and allows reader more insights as well as an explanation for their current behavior. These two despite past history were steaming hot with instant passion, but also depth as characters. I would encourage reading all these books in order, but not necessary but such a good series and ending. I did receive an ARC and leave this honest review.
This was a really engrossing read, it started out a bit brutal as Theo and Justin have a lot hurt and anger to work through. You really feel the impact of the emotional scars their brief high school relationship left on them, the writing (especially early on) really packs an emotional punch. These two are still hurting, Justin still angry and Theo still fearful and guilty when they find themselves working together years later. So, definitely lots of hurt to overcome for them both. But, there’s also also really good grumpy banter, lots of poor communication skills, sizzling chemistry, and a really beautiful ending for the series. It’s a great series and this couple was a definitely a favorite for me.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Theo and Justin have a past that has left deep scars on both of them even though they both insist they've moved on. It's clear to the reader immediately that that most definitely isn't true and you hope they can each find the right person to make them be able to leave the past behind, take down the walls they've built in terms of relationships and be happy. Who'd have thought they'd meet again and be that person for each other. There are some serious discussions that have to happen and the author does a great job of pacing the story so we understand both their initial pain, the enemies vibe when they meet again and also how that begins to change as they come to understand each other both as they were when younger and as who they are now.
