Chloe: I’m in love with my best friend Liam, but he just sees me as his buddy. I spend my days hoping and dreaming that will change one day. Then I receive a note from a secret admirer. Who is he? It’s a great distraction from my feelings for my best friend.
The mysterious author is kind and sweet. I need to find out who he is. But do I tell Liam how I feel, or do I let go of my crush and focus on a possibility with my secret admirer?
Liam: I’m in love with my best friend Chloe, but I don’t have the courage to tell her. Especially because I’m positive she doesn’t feel the same way. A rejection from her would hurt a lot. Maybe one day things will change, but for now, I’m okay with loving her from afar.
Until she gets a secret love letter. There’s a guy out there who likes her. Who the heck is he? What are his intentions? And why do her eyes light up in a way I’ve never seen before?
She’s falling hard for this guy. I need to step up and tell her how I feel, before it’s too late. But how can I compete with someone like that?
Best Friends Don’t Fall For Best Friends is the eighth book in the Invisible Girls Club, a sweet YA contemporary romance series. If you like invisible girls who snag the boys of their dreams, this book is for you!
Hi! I'm Emma and I write sweet YA romance novels that will make you swoon. When I'm not writing, I love to read, play video games, get lost in a good movie, and I eat way too much junk food. My sweet YA books include The Invisible Girls Club series, The Hotties Next Door series, and Crushing On The New Guy. I also write sweet adult romance books under Emma Lynne, including the Single Girls Club series. I love hearing from my readers, so please don’t hesitate to email me or follow me on Facebook.
Ok so I loved it but it was just a little too much of a slow burn for me personally.
Honestly I think we should have seen Liam trying not to freak out internally every time a new note or article he wrote was read by Chloe, and we should have gotten the reveal a lot sooner in Liam’s pov but the timing for Chloe’s is perfect.
They are honestly one of the cutest couples yet in the series! I mean Liam getting beat up to defend Chloe is so sweet and it’s safe to say that yet again a fictional man has raised the bar for my future boyfriend.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I’ve been waiting for Chloe’s story since reading the previous book. I was seriously wondering what path Emma Dalton would take. I did hope for a love triangle, possibly a square (her, Liam, secret admirer, other dude that I can’t say in fear of spoiling the books but I will post a review that contains spoilers in a few weeks so stay tuned for that). However, this is not that at all. It’s a slow burn, friends to lovers story with an (imaginary) love triangle that has had me hooked since the beginning.
I’ll admit, I was a little hesitant for Chloe and Liam but I was only halfway there when I started thinking, “Dude, just kiss her already.” I’m so happy that they both got their happily ever after and the anticipation, sweet moments between Chloe and Liam, and the sub-tropes threaded into the story had me sucked in for the long haul. And I mean literally, the long haul, since this book has 42 chapters. I can talk about how chapter 29 reminded me of every murder mystery scene. And it did —you’ll see why when you get to that chapter 😉. Liam was such a romantic and reading his thoughts made me feel all squishy inside. I laughed, I nearly dropped my tablet thinking, “LIAM, DON’T YOU DARE”, I cried, and loved it all. And I also sensed some sort of pattern with the Musketeers and their love stories (or is it a match-up? I don’t know). Maybe that’s just me but I won’t sense anything until Willow’s love story is out, whatever trope it may be.
I needed a break from all the spicy novels I read in the past two weeks (the Twisted Series was soooo steamy) and a sweet romance such as this definitely hit the spot! However, I didn’t know when it would be released because there’s no advertisement about preorders and everything so I was in anticipation until I saw her newsletter. How was it not up for preorders?
Friends to Lovers trope is my second favorite trope ( the first one is enemies to lovers of course ) this was a really sweet book and it was so wholesome and clean and I really needed that In this new installment for the invisible girls club we will follow Chloe, we begin the book when Chloe receives a love letter from a secret admirer, everyone is excited for her except her best friend Liam, who has been in love with her for years, and the more Chloe gets close to reveal the identity of her secret admirer the more Liam is pushed to show her that they are meant to be, who will she choose in the end ? while I did the like the progression of the story and the friendship was portrayed accurately, I wasn't convinced about Chloe's feelings, specially in the end, also there was no intense moments that made my heart flutter, it was all fine and good and fun until it wasn't .. all and all I did like the book, but I wanted more romantic vibes
I like YA books even though I haven’t been one for many years…they’re my easy reading guilty pleasure. I always thought any form of reading is good, but I was mistaken. I think you will become actively dumber by reading these books. I’m sorry to say this because I did initially enjoy the series (this is book 8!)
They kept getting worse yet I kept reading them thinking it was my problem. The series started off with the parents of the main characters in book 8. Those were ok. By the time we get to the next generation, the plot lines become super repetitive. I really should’ve stopped at book 6 (Jocks don’t fall for Bookworms). I found the book intolerable because of Lily’s whining about not having a boyfriend and lack of interest in anything else in life but romance, but I thought this was simply her character flaw so I kept going.
Then this book. Poor editing. I saw a couple typos. Pallet instead of palate. Text messaging attributed to the wrong person. These distractions gave me a lightbulb moment. Ah! This is actually terrible writing! It’s particularly noticeable in this book. After binge reading several of the books in a row, each character should’ve been crystal clear in my mind, but when I read it without paying attention to the names, I couldn’t tell who was speaking. Why? Because all the characters are exactly the same!!! Oh sure, they have their hobbies, but you remove that, and you’re left with the same overly sensitive flat core characters. Male or female, parent or child - they could all literally be the same person. They have the same feelings, the same thoughts…
I know no one cares to read this review. I think I just needed to vent. I feel stupid for not having noticed it earlier in the series. I’m actually kind of curious - I wonder if it’s a ghost writer for the latter half of the series. I have half a mind to go back and read the first ones to see if they’re better since I read them a long time ago…
If you got to the end of this, I apologize. You’re reading a review about a series you’re probably already invested in. Oh well. A very similar series by M.L. Collins is better. If you can ignore severely outdated slang the kids use like thebombdotcom which is from my high school days and it wasn’t cool then either.
I wanted to love this one! Liam is one of my favorite characters and he was so sweet to I was expecting all the feels 😭 Alas, while it did have some cute moments overall the book just frustrated me to no end. There's only so much "I like them but NO, I WILL SAY NOTHING" I can take lol Both characters were just being dumb. Liam got all negative about Chloe having a secret admirer, and Chloe was so desperate for a guy she literally pushed her best friend aside for.....what? So sit on her bed and chairs daydreaming about some guy she never met? I'm sure having someone tell you they think you're amazing is flattering but....to the point it takes over your life? Getting behind in school, pushing aside friends, and not sleeping? Yeah....dont think so. That was just ridiculous. I get both their motives but they were being dumb and I didn't like what either of them did to each other. I still love Liam but this was not the epic romance I was hoping for. So sad 🥺
In the eighth book of the Invisible Girls Club, we find the best friends of Liam and Chloe. They have been best friends their entire life. They begin to have real feelings for each other. Liam comes up with a plan to win Chloe’s love.Does it work? Find out about in the wonderful story of 2 best friends.
This series just keeps getting better and better! What has stemmed off of the original musketeers has expanded into the junior musketeers and I look forward to reading more about the junior musketeers!
Liam! One of the best book boyfriends ever <3 He is a chef, he is a love guru and he is a sportsman as well! This book compelled me to read all other books in this series and the entire series is sooooooo good!
I enjoyed the chemistry between Chloe and Liam from the last couple of books. I loved the secretive notes and all of it. What I really didn't like was CHloe's attitude, however, there has to be a conflict right? I guess that works.
