I loved the first book. It was amazing and talked about some really dark topics, but the story was beautiful. The second book was good, and I loved the addition of Damien, but I didn't love the change in plot. But sadly, this book felt like a completely different book series and strayed so far from the original storyline.
The first half of this book is hard to read. It has some very dark content, my two favorites go through so horrible things during it, and my heart broke for them.
The second half of this book was just okay, and I was just ready for it to end by the last 70 pages. They spent 80% of it in a car driving or fighting with each other, and the whole ending left very rushed.
Sadly, there were a lot of plot holes, too many things were left unaddressed, it became very unrealistic, and the storyline just became jumbled.
I loved these characters, Zayne broke my heart so many times in the first book, but I had all the hopes for him. Damien, even though very morally Grey, I adored him and how caring he was with Hallie. Hallie was very relatable, so strong, and just an all-around badass. This book though, they were different characters, which I understand they went through horrible things, but there was almost no semblance of the characters from the pervious books and I don't think I liked any of them by the end.
That said I was so excited for the bromance that was starting between Zayne and Damien, plus the banter between the one of them was great, but even that didn't last long.
There also wasn't very much talk about the trauma two of the characters went through during the first half of the book. It was briefly talked about, and then there was one part where Hallie "hurt" herself, but after that, it was kinda just brushed under the rug, and everything was fine.
Sadly, by the end, I was just glad it was done, which breaks my heart cause I adored the first book I just feel like the series got of track.
This is going in my list of worst endings ever. I hated this book with a burning passion and no it's absolutely not because of the dark yet out-of-nowhere plotline but the way the characters Hallie and Zayne changed. Yes, they went through circumstances that might change them for life but they seemed completely different from when they were imtroduced back in the first book. Hallie. Oh Hallie. She was so so annoying this book. She's so selfish and doesn't give a damn about anyone else like yes she has always been selfish to a point but never like that and she always had clarity in her mind that Zayne was the one for her no matter the shit he put her through so this whole love triangle thing really made me furious. I do not get how she fell in love with Damien over the course of 3 weeks (in book 2) and just FORGAVE him so easily for how he lied, deceived, kidnapped and was about to trade her??? Zayne so easily being okay with sharing Hallie and getting to the point of begging Damien to come back to her was just not him at all..like yes he was okay with sharing her rather than losing her but actively asking Damien again and again to do it? That's not Zayne. I hated Damien with a burning passion I really wished he'd have dead but oh well.
I loved the first two books and always assumed that Hallie and Zayne would one day find their way back to each other and finally have a good healthy relationship. Never in a million years would I have imagined that ending. It was absolutely terrible I hated it and every prior scene that led to it.
I will never ever get over this series. It definitely has left it’s mark on me. I love these characters so much. Specifically Zaddy!
This one is VERY dark. If you have read Haunting Adeline part 2 by HD Carlton then you can assume what I mean when I say it is THAT level of dark, if not darker.
There is blood play and breath play in this one as well as MFM scenes. SO HOT!
Now this book was expressed to me as extremely dark. And so I added the first two immediately to my kindle. I quickly realized they were not dark. Heavy subjects yes. Emotional. Yes. But not extreme.
But this one did sort of flip a switch. It turned into a different vibe of a book/story. I did feel as though because the lack of interaction she had with her mom but she kept popping up throughout the first two made me question the mom’s point in all this. Which this book does reveal but it felt almost like I was missing parts of the story. It left me missing a connection.
But besides that I really loved this book. I felt the ending was a bit rushed. Almost like the last 30% felt long but rushed. It still didn’t make me love it any less though.
The story of Hallie and Zayne and his character development. And Damien’s pov and his depth was great.
I think after Damien rescued them both the story just felt rushed and almost like the author just was like they all deserve a win let’s wrap it up. I didn’t mind the ending. Loved the play out of it and just getting some time with the 3 of them 🥵.
Definitely being added to my physical collection. This story was crazy and even with my hangouts about them and the different books I still loved this story. I loved every part and it gave me the full emotional spectrum so 5 stars!
My poor dark heart. Shae has definitely out did herself with this master piece. TB is the final book in the series and I was not left disappointed. Be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster. You will definitely feel heartbreak, sadness, anger, love, and it was never ending.
Book three picks up after BS and wow. All three MCs go through so much! This book is dark, and so hot.
This book will leave your heart full. 10/10 recommend 🖤
This book was probably darker than any other I’ve read. Some of it was so hard to read without bawling my eyes out. I knew the beginning of this one was going to hurt. I expected it. It was soul crushing. I cried. A lot. My chest was tight with anxiety for about 60%. At this point i wasn’t sure how this was going to end, I feared for all of the characters. 🥹 no matter how forced, the character development was fantastic. Zayne being the highest of character development. I thoroughly hated him through the entire series until this book. Not gonna lie, the most shocking was the last (roughly) 5-6% because that was the last thing I saw coming (at this point). It broke my heart again 😭 even though he fixed it, he still deserves a good 🥊 in the throat for that. It’s hard to say more than that without giving away any spoilers. I may be a little twisted, but I enjoyed this read. I would definitely read it again. 10/10.
If you like: - high emotional damage, -2 possessive alpha males, -toxic relationships (they both have serious red flags), -traumatic love story’s that break your heart all while mending it, -books that deal with severe mental health and feeling like your living the story right along with the characters -extremely well written details on the emotional side of what they all go threw and the struggles the characters face in this book 😭😱 *then I highly suggest you read this series.*
But I cannot stress this enough, take the tws seriously. Do not @ the author if you choose to proceed. You were warned. ❤️
This is the hardest and the most frustrating book of the trilogy. The first half is 10 times harder than Hunting Adaline. I mean it. Hallie and Zayne are going through unimaginable things. It’s hard, infuriating, heartbreaking, maddening, overwhelming. And after going through that, I felt left out. Michael’s death is not worthy of all he has done. We should have had 1 chapter of his torture until he dies. The sharing thing was really annoying because way too long… and the third breakup act was disappointing.
The trilogy itself is amazing. The end is not up to par.
The spice is still pretty good. Shae knows how to write it. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you so much Shae Ruby!
"No one tells you how far you're willing to go for love."
Tattered Bodies is the final installment of The Broken Series. The story picks up right where Battered Souls has ended. That being said, you must read the previous books before this one, they're not standalone.
Also, read the TW, please. The author always does an amazing work of advising them at the beginning of her books. So make sure to read them and proceed with caution. Shae wasn't kidding when said it was her darkest book yet, I had to take a breather multiple times as I read.
I'm not gonna lie, though, I thought it would be the first half of Hunting Adeline all over again. I hate comparing books, but it was the reference I had. There were some similarities, but other than that, the path the story took was very in character with the plot and tone of the series in general. So any comparison I was unwittingly doing was long gone.
I've always loved Hallie, but this book just made her shine even more. My heart ached for her, but seeing her path toward healing was so worth it. I was so proud of her for finally choosing herself.
And Zayne, okay, I get it now. Finally! He has grown and been through so much. It was Damien's turn to annoy the shit out of me. Damn, was he stubborn. I was right there with Zayne trying to beat some sense into him. About that, Zayne and Damien's bickering has given me LIFE throughout this book. For real, I didn't know I needed their interaction so much before I read this book.
The first half of the book was rough. It was, hands down, the darkest thing I've ever read. But I love how this series has completely taken me out of my comfort zone and the story was so addictive (yeah, pun intended). This book gave me whiplash. I was exactly like them, always expecting the other shoe to drop. This is something I enjoyed in this series, I never knew what to expect. I was halfway through and still had no idea how it would end.
The story kind of lost its pace in the second half, though. I felt like things were getting repetitive and drawn out. I was hoping that what happened in the first half would be better explored. Some questions were left unanswered for me. I understand that it was necessary to develop their relationship, but I believe it could be done alongside wrapping up the cartel plot.
ALSO, I'm being picky, but I just couldn't let this go, there were two nurses among them and none of them thought about getting themselves tested for STIs? They needed it badly. I know this isn't the most fun thing to read in a book, but I think it's details like that one that makes the story more realistic.
It's bittersweet to say goodbye to this series that has totally pulled at my heartstrings but they deserved their HEA. I'm looking forward to Shae's next projects.
THIS BOOK IS INCREDIBLY DARK AND GRAPHIC. READ ALL TRIGGER WARNINGS AND READ WITH CAUTION!
I cannot even begin to describe just how good this series was. In fact I can almost guarantee that nothing I say will be good enough. The writing was magnificent, the dialogue and banter back and forth between characters was incredible. As a person who works in medical I think for me that was one of the key points that made the series so good. All of the “nurse verbiage” throughout the books made it seem that much more real. Then on the flip side all of the dialogue surrounding drug use.. it’s like we were living it. Watching it happen and not being able to do anything to stop and help it.
The raw, devastating, soul crushing emotions I felt while reading these books was off the damn charts. I can honestly say I have NEVER wanted to throw my kindle at a wall more. Going from the highest highs to the lowest of lows, Hallie and Zayne really did a number on my heart and emotional well being.
This also is hands down the darkest book I have ever read when it comes to violence, drug use description and sexual assault. When I say read trigger warnings, I mean read the trigger warnings.
I finished it last night and still this morning I don’t know how to move on just yet. I miss them. Forevermore.
Would you look at that, I disliked it even more than I expected. 🤷🏻♀️ Not wanting to talk and deal with your problems while using sex as a coping mechanism is just awesome! 👌 No character development for any of them in the whole series whatsoever .. or at least I don’t consider willing to share the supposed “love of your life” you another man being an upgrade of any sort!
Woah! This was such an emotional ride!! Shae Ruby you have done it again! Loved everything about this series and the conclusion to this dark and toxic love triangle! Highly recommend this entire to series! Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your ARC team!! 🖤
Hallie runs from Zayne and Damien and finds herself kidnapped and in her worst nightmare. Damien needs to find her , because he knows what hell she’s going through. Can Damien find Hallie? Great characters and storyline Highly recommended Amazing book This is the third and final book in the Broken Series and it’s excellent. The character development is amazing. The messages in this book are powerful. I literally couldn’t put it down read in a day. Definitely read your trigger warnings
( spoiler alerts) The first book was great, second book was ok, but this book. I just couldn't get into it. The banter and bickering was annoying. I couldn't get into the whole poly thing. Zayne was irritating me. It just felt like it didn't belong with the series. She was getting on my nerves. Unpopular opinion it wasn't the best.

This was…all over the place. I had to know how it ended. Infinite triggers, all the disturbing content, but lordt, I’m kinda just glad it’s over. We had plot, we lost plot, then regained some plot before finally ending. 😅
The back and forth got on my nerves and I just got annoyed with the love triangle. Overall, this series just wasn’t my thing I wish it would’ve stopped after the first book.
Could Shae Ruby write a better series? I'm not sure, but this one is going way up to the top series I've read this year.
Looking back at when I first read this series I had seen someone post about it on Instagram. I couldn't even tell you who it was. I was browsing my Explore page and it came up as someone's favorite series. They said it was dark, twisted, and spicy. Boy were they right. I have never read anything like this before. I also don't get triggered that often and I skimmed through the warnings. I don't regret it because even though I felt some of the content it just showed me how the author could really make me believe in her story. She explained everything to a T and I honestly knew she could write this story with such emotion I felt what she was writing in my core. Not many authors could make me feel their story like this. When they do I definitely let everyone know because it means their writing is phenomenal.
Zayne and Hallie's story is one of love, betrayal, heartbreak, lust, forgiveness, addiction, and strength. Every trial they go through will break your heart but when they come together it goes to show that they're meant for each other.
Damien is such a vital part of Hallie's healing. I'm so happy he was there for her. He was a literal hero for both of them and even though he was possessive I feel it was a realistic take on a three-person relationship. Especially coming from people who didn't know poly is what they wanted. They all grow together, heal together, and love together. I'm here for all of it.
I enjoyed reading every moment from the first time they laid eyes on her to their happy ending as they build a life together. These characters are endgame for me and I am so happy to have their harrowing love story on my shelf.
Shae you are an artist with your words and your books are your masterpieces. Honestly, I feel your story was so on point and your message about mental health/addiction should be heard. Thank you for such a beautiful ending to these characters. I love it all.
I love the broken series! It is one of my all time favorite dark romances. Spoilers ahead!….
Tattered Bodies picks right up from the ending of Battered Souls. Michael, hallies step dad, has taken her hostage within a sex trafficking organization. Let me tell the first half of this book hurt to read. My heart literally felt ripped in half. Hallie has already been assaulted by this man growing up and she is now having to relive it all over again but so much worse. He puts her through hell. She has to watch others be raped, she’s drugged and raped herself multiple times. Zayne is not any better off. He is being kept with another man in the same organization. He’s kept in a cage like an animal and only let out for him to be raped as well. These two, it’s any wonder they come out of this sane of mind. While all this is happening Damien is desperately trying to find both of them. One of the biggest highlights for me was watching Hallie take revenge on Michael, after Damien and Zayne rescue her. I fist pumped the air. I respect Shae so much for being able to go to this place to write their story. It could not have been easy. This book touched a lot on my own trauma which made this more painful. It was worth all the heart ache though to get to see Hallie thrive. I felt somewhat healed with her by the end.
Throughout all the broken bits there is truly a beautiful HEA waiting at the end. Hallie, Zayne and Damien get everything they deserve. I’m the most proud of my Zayne baby and all his growth. He’s finally put on his big boy pants to be present with Hallie and give her all his heart.
The spice between the three of them is off the charts. I was sweating it out. Damien and Zayne truly are daddy’s. Then we have Hallie taking control of these men. 🥵 I would not mind at all being the filling in this sandwich.
One of my top reads for 2023 and I can’t encourage everyone enough to read this series. It was bittersweet reading the final installment. I cried a lot.

Quotes: “Quiet, Hallie, or I’ll fucking gag you.” Damien pulls my hair that’s wrapped around his fist, and tears spring to my eyes, one falling on his chest. “Be a good girl and let us fuck you.”
“They each represent a puzzle piece to my heart, and if they’re not here to complete it, then I’m hollow, empty, incomplete.”
“You’re my sunshine. The reason I wake up every morning. Without you, my light is gone.” She steps back and looks at me, her lower lip trembling again, and I hold her chin between my thumb and forefinger. “Do you truly love me that much?” “You’re the love of my life.”

DNF Great story. Had really good potential for me but this is a personal DNF and not because of the author or story. I can see why people would enjoy this story but there are little things that made me not like as much as I hoped.
Could not fucking stand both mmc any longer. I was just getting so irritated with how they would treat Hallie and dismiss her feelings. Damien always calling zayne weak made me want to punch him in the face. I feel like the whole kidnapping and what happened with the stepfather kinda got forgotten about. Made it til 80% and they hadn’t acknowledged any of it really. I personally just felt like I was running in a circle trying to find the end but there isn’t one.

This book had it all. Damien pulled through for all the wins. Did I want to write him off? Yes. Did he make me mad? Yes. Did he make me really dislike him? Again, yes. Did he redeem himself? 100% yes. Zayne went through some horrible things and I was waiting for him to mess up. But holy moly am I beyond proud of Z and his growth in this book. Hallie. Where do I begin with her... she is so beyond strong. Going through everything she did when she was younger and then getting taken and going through hell... finally sticking up for herself and doing what's best for her and not backing down. No words can be written to express my love for this series.

(Please check trigger warnings!) Wow. What an ending. This book is dark and twisted, but a great ending to this trilogy. The storyline and plot were very dark and tragic things happen to the characters that one would wish upon no one. I will miss Hallie and Zayne and Damien.
I just wrote a 5,000 word essay for this review and the app crashed. That was my therapy for the day so I’m not repeating it HA but the TL;DR is this:
This is an incredibly gut wrenching, traumatizing, brutal, vicious, heart clenching, fire starting end to this series. It is *INCREDIBLY DARK* and this is coming from a girl who is well versed in dark romance, knows my triggers well, and read the CW twice. Read it 10 times. Sleep on it. Read it again. When you *think* you’re prepared for how dark the first half of this book is, think again. It’s some of the darkest I’ve ever read. And then when you think the pain is over, it slaps you upside the face in the second half too.
I should have been more honest with where my mental health stood going into the book because I almost stopped several times, it was highly triggering for me. But, ultimately I needed to see Hallie, Zayne, and Damien’s story through to the end because I’ve loved it and them from the beginning. I’m glad I did, it was a beautiful, excruciating, hot as Hades ride from start to finish.
Shae writes emotional angst and spice that has me sweating and crying at the same time, and I love their real, raw, non-linear journey to healing together. Learning how to love and forgive together. They get their HEA, yes, but they (and the reader) are dragged through glass and salt 50 miles uphill before they get to that ending.
This is one I won’t soon forget, and I’m going to miss them terribly.
When I tell you Miss Ruby did her thing with this one!!!! Whewwwww 😮💨😮💨😮💨😮💨 This book was soooo good, I loved it. It was the perfect ending for this series.
The first part was super dark so you should really double check the trigger warnings and make sure this book will not affect you. But amazing nonetheless, this book was great!!!
The third book made me fall more in love with Zayne, Damien and Hallie. Especially Zayne. I liked the character development and growth that we seen all 3 characters go through.
I’m so happy that we got a happy ending for these three!!! Getting towards the end was making me sooooo sad but my favorite character in this book was Zayne & I started hating him last book lol. But he was amazing and he has grown so much throughout the series. I like how strong Hallie and Zayne are, I feel like this novel really gives off the message that we as humans can get through anything, yeah it’s gonna be hard but we have to push through. I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect ending! I loved everything about this book and I definitely recommend this whole series. We get to see our characters go through the most and finally heal and become healthy and happy & the book was just amazing!!
Looking forward to reading more from this author, I love her. Truly mind blowing story!!

I love these books and these amazingly broken characters! Y’all, this whole series is absolutely amazing. Hallie, Zayne, and Damien are so broken, but gosh when they love they love BIG. I will say these books are definitely dark romance, and have some really tough things to read at times but gosh they’re so good! Definitely need to read this whole series!
❤️Dark suspense romance ❤️Toxic love ❤️MFM ❤️DVP ❤️Breath play ❤️OTT hero ❤️Possessive/alpha hero ❤️Mental health representation
You definitely need to start with book 1, Shattered Hearts, but this series will take you in a wild ride!
My lord, thank you Shae for the arc of this book, I'm super grateful. Can I just say wow this book really really hit me in all the feels for Hallie, like my poor girl man she didn't deserve that and Zay and Damian??? My goodness why did you have to rip my heart out like that. I couldn't have asked for a better ending to their story though and what they went through was literally the saddest things I could have ever read. I highly recommend reading the trigger warnings of this book because it is darker than the other two and boy oh boy are you in for the ride of your life. I cannot get over how well Shae portrays everything in her books, whether it be mental health issues or addiction issues, she always knocks it out of the park. I highly recommend this book and this entire series, you will not regret it. It does have a happy ending even though you wouldn't think it does with what happens. I was on the edge of my seat multiple times and Shae really throws so many twists into the story it just keeps you hooked. Absolutely amazing story Shae, cannot wait to read more of your books in the future!
This book is one of my most anticipated books to read this year. But also one I was not ready to read as it’s the end of this series! So let’s talk about it. 😉
💭This is book 3 in The Broken series. This series started out with Hallie and Zayne and their extremely toxic relationship. Then we are introduced to Damien in book two who shows Hallie a different, healthier side of life. Now in book 3… I don’t even know where to start with this! This was DARK. The darkest in the series. I definitely shed more than a few tears reading this. The pain that these characters experienced bled off the page and into my own heart. I could feel what they were feeling while they were experiencing it. The writing in this was beautiful and so well done. You can tell the author has grown as a writer by reading this series. After the tears, t0rture (literally), and turmoil, I’m just glad I got my HEA at the end. I’m so sad to let Hallie, Zayne, and Damien go though. 🥹 I feel so attached to them! This was the perfect ending to this series though. 👏🏻
Listen!! The way this book destroyed me is hard to put into words but I’m going to try!! This book is heart wrenching, traumatizing, vicious, brutal, gut twisting, emotional, and healing all wrapped into one. An amazing end to a series that will forever live in my head and heart!! The first half of this book is the *DARKEST* of all 3 books so please check and know your triggers because this book has them all!! I don’t consider myself having any triggers but I had to stop a couple times to gather myself.
This was the ending we wanted and needed for these characters and getting through the first half of this book is ABSOLUTELY worth it!! Shae takes the crown for dark romance with this book. It’s emotional, gut wrenching, angst, and spicy AF!! This book had me crying and turned on all at the same time. Lol.
The journey that these characters went on is so raw and real. I absolutely LOVED the bromance between Zayne && Damien as the came together for Hallie’s sake! The growth of each character makes my heart smile and I couldn’t be happier at the HEA that Shae gives them.
This was a five star read and I’m so sad to see them go! I will definitely miss Hallie, Zayne, and Damien, but their happy ending is well deserved.
Did I spend the last week binging the books in this series to be ready to read this book….yes!
Shae is one of those authors that can really hurt me with her writing, her books are for the dark romance lovers who aren’t afraid to feel the emotions she puts into these books.
Seeing Hallies character growth through out this series and then seeing her in this book was just amazing, I loved seeing her healing from the journey she’s been on. Zayne and Damian…what more can I say! I deffo warmed up to Zayne more in this book than the others, he deffo has a bit of a redemption arc.
I’m so sad to see this series finished but at the same time I’m happy we finally got our happy ending.
This book is one of the most anticipated books to read this year. Read the triggers before you start the book, as it is not for everyone. Shae has definitely outdone herself with this masterpiece. Tattered Bodies is the final book in the series and I was not left disappointed. This book was probably darker than any other I’ve read. Some of it was so hard to read without bawling my eyes out. I knew the beginning of this one was going to hurt. Woah! This was such an emotional ride!! I will tell you what, y’all, “Tattered Bodies” had me REELING for the entirety of the book.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
