Зайчето Пип много харесва своя голям балон и когато той се спуква, Пип не спира да плаче. За щастие, мишчицата Поузи измисля нещо страхотно и Пип отново е щастлив. Колко хубаво е да имаш добри приятели!
Axel was born in Hamburg, Germany. At school he was good at art, but didn’t think of a career in illustration until he won a cuddly purple cow in a drawing competition.
He moved to England in 1982 to learn English and study illustration at the Bath Academy of Art and then set up home in London. Axel illustrated a number of books for various publishers, and in 1993 Kate suggested him as the illustrator for Julia Donaldson’s first picture book text, A Squash and a Squeeze. This was the start of a hugely successful partnership: their bestselling modern classic, The Gruffalo, has sold over three-and-a-half million copies worldwide, and the TV animation was broadcast on Christmas day 2009.
Axel has illustrated a number of other highly successful books, including Muddle Farm, and his books have been translated into 42 languages.
Axel lives in London with his partner and young daughter.
Bought this from my local library's book sale shelf - much enjoyed, and looking forward to reading it to my granddaughters on their summer holiday visit.
Brave of me to read it as actually I don't like balloons at all, ever since one blew up in my face at an early age! I have to steel myself at children's parties when the horrible things abound (balloons, not children, naturlich!).
I'm guessing this is partly a homage on Axel Scheffler's part to the charming French film* Le Ballon Rouge, which I loved as a child? But then again, maybe not? Must ask him if I ever bump into him in a park leading a red balloon!
The Big Balloon is a Pip and Posy story in which the pair go on a walk with Pip's big red balloon but Pip ends up upset when the balloon ends up popping so Posy decides to find a way to make Pip happy again.
This is a lovely story that shows a lovely friendship between the pair. It is a nice way to show how friends sometimes need some support and it's great to see Posy coming up with a fun and clever plan to solve Pips problem.
The children enjoyed seeing the end result of Posy's problem solving and they loved seeing them in the illustrations. The pictures are all very nice and the children enjoy looking at the colourful illustrations in the familiar style of the illustrators.
This is a lovely story, it's not too long or detailed and would be perfect for toddlers. The children enjoyed the book and we'd definitely look to read more of the series in the future.
This was much better than the last book I read by Axel Scheffler. We all can remember (most of us can at least) letting go of a balloon when we were kids, and being upset that it's gone. We can all relate to that time when we lost a balloon and it went pop! I think this book is brilliant and comical for children. I really liked how Axel draws on the point of bubbles towards the end. Okay balloons aren't supposed to go pop, it's very sad, sometimes it can be traumatic for some kids (a key turning point in most children's childhoods- you can probably remember losing or popping a balloon and being upset by it)
It was brilliant. I'm going to be working my way through these books, as I want to see more books like this and would absolutely love to see more people reviewing them.
I loved how bubbles were also brought up ; because they are supposed to pop!
I read this book with my daughter. I brought her almost all the Acorn Wood Stories by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. This is a new series that we have started reading together. It’s really nice and colourful. I enjoy Scheffler’s illustrations.
Excellent simple story for a toddler to follow along with a relate to. I've read this almost every day for the last week (because it keeps being requested) and my kid is so excited to turn the pages quickly to get to the plot resolution and explain what happened in her own words.
I like the usual format of Pip and Posy series. The two of them are having fun. This time with a balloon. Something goes wrong. This time the balloon flies away. Someone is sad, this time Pip. The other person finds a way to cheer them up. This time, Posy cheers Pip up.
pip is a rabbit. He has a big red balloon. Posey is Pip's mouse friend. They go for a walk around the town with pips balloon, but he accidentally lets it go. A cute story with nice illustrations.
I chose the book "Pip and Posy": The Big Balloon By Axel Scheffler which is a children's picture book. Pip is very proud and loves his big red balloon and shows it to everyone in town. But when he accidently lets go of it flies high into the air and pops, making him very sad. So his friend, Posy had an idea to cheer him up, by blowing bubbles and watching them float away, which made him cheer up. I gave this book a rating of 4 out of 5 because I thought the theme and the plot of the story was explained well by using the comparison of the balloon popping and the bubbles popping. The illustrations were very realistic and detailed in color, and I like how the author used different types of animals instead of people/kids. Also, some of the illustrations throughout the book can be used to help children when learning shapes, sizes, and their colors. The language of the book is very simple and is straight to the point. There's also not a lot of big vocabulary words that children won't understand. Lastly, I would use this book while working with children because not only does it use a good analogy of a balloon floating and popping, and bubbles floating and popping, but as I mentioned earlier throughout the story there are illustrations that can help children learn there shapes, sizes, and color a little bit better. Children might be interested in this book because they might want to read something with different characters, like the characters in the book are animals instead of people.
Way below my 5 year olds reading level, but I think he's fond of illustrator Axel Scheffler's bright and fun pictures. But the tomes written by Julia Donaldson, such as The Gruffalo or Stick Man are definitely more engaging.
