I thought the book was a nice starter read for those who are interested in investing in commercial real estate. He goes over the different types of commercial property, real estate investing methods, types of lease agreements (I prefer the triple net lease agreements).
It was a brief yet substantive enough to explain the ins and outs of commercial RE investing and how to properly identify a good deal or a bad deal and how to manage a property through effective due diligence and accountability measures.
I got this book from a Goodreads giveaway, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I went into this book not knowing a whole lot about commercial real estate, and honestly, that is what made it helpful. It does not talk down to you, but it also does not act like you already know all the fancy terms either.
This book lays things out in a way that makes sense. It talks about why folks get into commercial real estate, what kind of properties may be better for beginners, what mistakes can cost you money, and how to look at a deal without feeling completely lost. That part right there was probably the most useful to me.
I also liked that it explains the language of commercial real estate. Because if you do not know what people are talking about, it is real easy to nod your head while your brain is out back chasing chickens. This book helps slow all that down and makes it easier to understand.
Now, I will say some parts are a little dry, but that comes with the territory. Commercial real estate is not exactly the kind of thing that keeps you flipping pages like a crime thriller. But for a learning book, it does what it is supposed to do.
Overall, I thought this was a good, useful read for beginners. It gives you a solid starting point, helps you understand the basics, and makes commercial real estate feel a little less intimidating.
A great book to spark your interest in commercial real estate. Short and to the point. A few grammatical mistakes, but you do have to give the author credit for writing his own book (considering his profession is real estate and not a professional author). I appreciate and value the exercises provided by the author to train the reader to evaluate potential investments. I will definitely apply lessons learned from this book to future investments.
This book is a great book for beginner real estate investors. It gives a good framework and lot of reasonable advice. However, beware, real estate is not easy. Many things will go wrong and many things will take much more time and money. Dont buy a property after reading this book. Be calm, read more real estate and investment books, learn about your real estate market and then start investing.
This book is more motivational than practical hands on experience. The deal analysis examples and due diligence sections were really informative but the majority of the book was getting you excited about the idea of getting into commercial real estate.
This was actually a really great read. Rekindled my desire to own commercial rental properties and create a better life for myself and my family. Here's to taking action today!
This book has good guidance for the upcoming commercial property investor. I like that Peter use examples to show different scenarios of how to structure deals.
There’s a ton of books out there similar to this one, and little differentiates this one. I tend to look for books that cover the challenges as well as the opportunities in balance - and this one is on the too positive side. A basic introduction.
Great book, some very useful information and strategies, even though I’m in a different market to the US. I just wish the author had gotten someone else to read the audiobook; he trips over his words and has trouble getting them out, and it’s a bit off putting.
I was looking for a basic, simple book that breaks down some core area of COM, in an effort to provide new colleagues and associates with a starting point. This will be an easy handout for them to get started.
There isn't anything groundbreaking or deeply informative here with most of the information being common sense or could be gleaned from a basic internet search. I received this as part of a Goodreads giveaway.
Great intro book for people interested in commercial real estate. It is short and it covers a lot of important topics, but it is written at a level that anyone can understand.
Awesome read and loved the examples given! Really helped me analyze different commercial properties and the terminology. Very good book for a beginner!
