*This book was a project for a grad course and was published for my newsletter readers. There is currently no plan for a sequel as originally said. INSTEAD, I have written a full standalone novel featuring Xylem and her sister that will be released under the name The False Queen (spring 2025).
**Xylem is still available as an e-book on Amazon. Please understand Xylem ends on a cliffhanger and there are parts of Xylem that will not carry over to The False Queen. I loved the characters and the world I created but felt the story could use some extra help. Carl and April are NOT part of the new storyline.
This is a story within a story I didn’t know I NEEDED. I absolutely enjoyed this story. I love how Kenzie painted a picture with her descriptions.
Xylem is centered around Carson, a biology teacher who makes a challenge with his wife, April, to make science sexy & convince her that she can learn science through a story. Carson decides to use a story about nymphs & a dryad to explain what plant biology is like.
This was a quick and comical novella. I love the banter between Carson & April. They made me giggle and i felt there were the perfect amount of interruptions.
I love how Xylem was coming into her power. I loved how Timber was helping guide her through her new found knowledge of what was actually happening around her. That damn plot twist made me scream 😱 and I’m ready for an all out WAR between sisters!
This story won’t be for everyone but I’m so happy to say I loved this one. For a baby author, Kenzie captured my heart with this one & I cannot wait to read more of her work. Her writing style grabs me in, and her humor is the cherry on top!
I really liked the idea of a story within a story. I loved the twists and turns and how the book ended but am very confused about the science part of the book tbh. can’t wait to see what happens though and where the second books heads.
I really enjoyed how it was a story within a story. A husband trying to make science sexy so that his wife understands, it's very different. I like the story line of Xylem, I definitely need more on the twists of it. The spicy scenes are definitely good and again different because it's science turned sexy so it's not your average spicy scenes. The banter between the husband and wife also makes it good, I thought it was funny each time he was interrupted while trying to tell his story. I was hoping for more to the story of Xylem though, hopefully the next one explains everything well. In the end, he definitely made science seem sexy. 😂
This book is a story within a story and I loved that fact. Carson bet his wife April, that he could make science sexy. His story has 2 sisters and one very sexy man, named Timber. The end twist caught me off guard. Be aware that this book does have TWs, so please read them before you decide to read it.
I received an ARC of this and honestly it was great!
The main story is a story within a story and I got Princess Bride vibes from that. At 1st I liked it but just like with the princess bride I found myself irritated by the characters for interrupting my story time 🤣 (don't worry it's not alot of interrupting)
The story follows Xylem, a sheltered, powerful (unbeknownst to her) nymph while she starts to discover what's actually been going on in the forest & being hidden from her. Along the way, she meets Timber, who helps her discover the truth, and damn, does he show her some "stuff" 😏😏. There is magic, sibling rivalry, family secrets, spice & an upcoming war!
The way Kenzie describes everything from the forest, to the dresses & characters really helps paint the scene! It was done in such a way that you know what you're imagining but without the drawn-out explanation of what a rock looks like!
There is really not a lot I can say without giving the story away other than to say READ IT! It ends on a cliffhanger, and I can't wait for the 2nd book, I want to know more about the secrets, backstory & war!

Who knew science could be sexy?! Not only was this a very sexy book, it also has a story line that hooked me from the start! Zylem, is learning why she truly is, and just what she is capable. The betrayal she feels radiated in the story. This is a must read for everyone, but if your into science please do your self a favor and read it!
ARC Reader The book was full of spice. Maybe not for everyone. I loved the plot twist at the end. The cliffhanger was good, I really can not wait for Kenzies next book. There were a few minor errors but nothing to bad. Highly reccomend.
Beta Read / ARC read There is a very long list of triggers for this so you may want to check them out plus they will make you giggle too!!
Well this was a spicy short novella that I didn’t even know I needed! Kenzie hit it out of the park with the never before read category for me! It was spicy and plot twisty! And to top it off there was the dang cliffhanger she left us with! I need more now!! I love the banter between carson and April and the story in the story!! Must read novella!!
I loved the premise and unique set up of a story within a story for this book. I throughly enjoyed the banter between the MC’s, so sweet. The vines! Oof the vines! Goodness! Such a creative story and the twist. I’ve never read anything like it. A fun quirky read! And I actually learned something sciencey! Super excited to read the next instalment! Well done!

welp!
Now I love a good science smutty book and this didn't disappoint at all. This story made plants as erotic and sexy as it get in a book like this. It definitely is a story within a story... When a science teacher comes home from work and bets his wife he can get her to understand plants biology the story unfolds. The story is based on the plants as though they were people and the story is HAWT! It definitely gives a lesson and some...I promise you the sex and plot of the story within was juicy plus it has a huge cliffhanger.
Who knew science could be so sexy. If someone ever taught it to me like this maybe I would've paid attention.....or maybe not.
Xylem starts of with a husband betting his wife that he could make science sound sexy and that she could remember something from it. And my oh my does he accomplish one of these things. The banter between this couple is pure joy and entertainment. I love how his wife constantly kept interrupting him at the best parts, its like when I read and my mind just stops at something good. Like mouth dropped open at a huge plot twist kind of way. But the story he goes on to tell her is about a very sheltered nymph named Xylem. She has never scene they outside world except for one solstice every year. So this time she goes on her own and during this journey she runs into a very pleasing man name Timber and man is he good. The connection between these to is intense. And the vine scene...ughh my favorite by far.
This short story is a perfect quick read for any smut lover to enjoy. It sexy, steamy, intriguing and even entertaining. But be fair warned it does end on a cliffhanger. I'm excited and curious where this story is going to go but slightly hope with get more entertainment from Carson and his wife. I can't wait to see what else Kenzie has in store for us.
Absolutely terrible. When in the first couple pages the author says “voluptuous fun bags”, I knew the story and writing would be bad, and it did not disappoint.
The cringe between Carson and April makes me want to vomit. Totally unbelievable and unrelatable characters, juvenile dialogue, and overall just total cringe.
Not sure if the author is a teenager, but the overall writing style is inexperienced, and lacks any sort of maturity, professionalism or education.
I needed a book that started with X for my A-Z challenge and was really disappointed with this choice.
This was recommended for a reading challenge. I can't believe I finished it tbh. Scenes of forced sexual encounters, which is pretty much the whole book. Weird rapey- Stockholm syndrome vibes. Immature Characters, almost childlike. A story that made zero sense with major holes in it. It was like watching a 90s softcore, b rated, porno movie that played on HBO after dark.
I received this as an ARC and honestly pretty sure I’m even more confused and to what Xylem and Phloem than I was when I was in school haha! This is a fantastic short read full of spice as the story in a story attempts to teach the storytellers wife a science lesson.
The ending was such an unexpected twist! I can’t wait to find out who Xylem found and what’s going to happen next
Nice and fun spicy short read to start off the month of May! This book is one of the hottest books I've read in a while🥵❤️ Can't wait to read more by Kenzie❤️ Never knew science could be this sexy🫣🥵🤭❤️ It had me blushing and feeling the good feels🤭😅❤️ I would definitely check triggers though😳🫣❤️ Phew!

There’s nothing I didn’t dislike about this book! A story within a story and that has spice..I live for it! There’s tw but if you’re open to anything it’s a perfect read!
ARC Reader… not every book is everyone’s cup of tea and that is okay. This book has hits and misses for me. I enjoyed the Princess bride story telling mode, the plot twists at the end and the premise of the story. For spice, there was a plenty and perfect if you’re looking for a unique spicey novella. There was some aspects I felt could have been built up better which I have already discussed with the author.
