Book Review – Spy Ring – Bradley Wright
Author Bradley Wright continues to impress me with his seventh Xander King novel, “Spy Ring.” King – a former US Navy SEAL now an elite CIA counterterrorism operative – continues to shine in this roller coaster ride of a story where AI – Artificial Intelligence – plays a significant role. Readers are led into a scary unidentified tale of future conflicts with chilling uncertainty. Adrenaline-laced, Audacious, and Alarming, Spy Ring ‘rings’ with the frightening theory and rapid development of AI and how it will affect future counterintelligence operations and impending military warfare. All the characters – especially King and team – were solid and convincing and the plot itself was sharp and astute. My only critique of the book was its somewhat hurried ending. Other than that, this was a good, quick – 268-page read. I enjoy this series and will continue to follow the adventures of Xander King.

Worst Book of Series

I have generally enjoyed reading the previous Xander King novels even though they were obviously not great literature. The writing was often laughably bad, but reading them was a mindless pleasure, like bubble gum thrillers. This book, however, was especially poorly written with numerous typos and utterly absurd dialogue. It seemed like the author and publisher rushed to complete the book. What was especially galling was the author's political commentary and spreading of conspiracy theories. No one is reading these books to see that kind of nonsense. It took away from my enjoyment from reading this and ensured that it will be the last book from this author that I will purchase.

Another great Zander and team adventure

This is easily a stand alone, but if you want to really know these characters read the whole series. Bradley Wright knows how to keep you on the edge of your seat, or bumping into walls while your head is in the book, because you are multitasking and can’t put your book down. Spy Ring is nearly nonstop action, with some comedy relief you can always count on from Kyle. All the beloved cast of characters are in this book as they chase down a twisted, evil scheme that at first seems to be an international crisis with our country’s most dangerous foes. Things are not at all what they appear and the danger is much closer and scarily powerful.

Outstanding!!

Wow! It seems like its been such a long time before we've gotten a taste of Alexander ,and his team. The writer doesn't disappoint, we are thrown into a mystery that not only will scare you, creep you and rise your adrenaline level. We get a glimpse of what a terrifying look at A I in the wrong hands look like and the truth that sooner or later we will have to confront it. This is one pulse pounding story, that ends on a such a happy note, but you just can't wait for the next one. Let's cross our fingers its not a long one.

Horrible-Worst book of the series

The main characters in the book which was one well written have turned from ‘Operators’ to jokesters with no operational awareness, seemingly no training, and making endless mistakes which should get them killled. This was the worst book in the series and a flat out disappointment I stopped reading after the 3rd chapter….and I have OCD, so I have a ‘need’ to finish all books I start no matter how bad they are…but for this one, I could not stomach through it.

I would give it a 5 star, but...

The story is good and the characters likeable, but not as fully fleshed out as usual. The ending also feels a bit like a rush job.
There are still many glaring grammatical mistakes in the text, such as switches to different tenses mid-sentence, incorrect word usage, and adjectives instead of adverbs, for instance.
If the author used a decent professional proofreader during his final editing process, I would gladly give the novel a 5-star rating.

Fun read, with a very quick ending

As with all the King novels, this starts of with the world as we know it at risk and the team stepping in to help
Slight variation of the norm, in that the bad guy isn't and the good guy isn't either
It moves along at a fast pace, the team all over Europe and then back to the US.
One observation/criticism, the ending comes about very quickly, almost blink and you miss it. One minute they are fighting for their lives, the next King is driving down his driveway to his Ranch

wright does it again

Exploding from the very first page, a story that is a wild roller coaster of a ride, straps you down and doesn’t let go until you close the book. King and team are lured into something so unexpected from a source long forgotten only to find themselves fooled and being played on a whole. other field by a most disturbing game master. Can King save not only his team but the world from the evil before time runs out! Action packed and fast paced a great read!

US covert assets all over the world are at risk. They have been captured and several have died. King and team are separated in a well orchestrated simultaneous attack. As is customary, the good guys eventually win and have exposed some new technology that would change the world forever. The government comes to the rescue and destroys the technology; but did they really? There is an abundance of moving pieces with this story. Many characters to keep up with in this book. Take notes.

Terminators?

This was a wild story right from the start. And, I couldn’t figure out what was going on for a while… OK… so that’s the writers expertise… Anyway, the story started to make a lot of sense and then… Bam! Robots! Wow. Made me wonder if there are really robots like the ones in this story in the works now! Maybe! Anyway, can’t wait to find out what’s next with X’s life, especially since he proposed to Natalie!

Perhaps the most interesting and suspenseful book in the series so far. Riveting from the beginning to the end. Taking the reader to many places, using the theme yet again if someone working for the other side turned to Xanders side, and bringing the reader the plausibility of something that is not really far fetched into reality. And……. does Xander get his HEA??? Now only about ten more days until the next book is released perhaps to find out the answer.

Kinda dissapointed

I must admit, as I was reading the first several chapters, I was so into this book I could not stand it. I was still very intrigued until I got to the point where the "bad guy" actually turned to help out our heroes. I thought this was the weakest in the series so far. I will certainly read book 8, hoping it is better.

Very enjoyable.

This story hit all the key components of a solid adventure. The characters were believable and human. It left the reader wondering though about how technology would impact us all. Very thought provoking.

Silly and totally unrealistic

Bradley has lost his way with this novel. Xander has become superhuman and time doesn’t matter. Follow the time lines in this story and they are impossible. Sorry I read this.

Another great if totally improbable adventure with Xander, Sam and the team. I don't think it's improbable that AI armies could be developed just how the team come out relatively unscathed (again)! Oh and I could do without all the romance at the end. I like my heroes lean, mean and alone.

Outstanding!!

Poor Alex King always has to fight with all the power he has to save American. His team is great and with AI being real... it's hard to believe what is true and what is false.

Pass

Weakest plot in entire series. Meandering storyline, predictable outcomes for characters introduced in the plot. Why does every interaction involve "gigantic" bad guy?

Interesting plot; good pace, but … dialogue seemed unusually cheesy and Sam was not Sam.

this would make a great series for TV. Great action, packed and suspenseful. This one started out as an absolute mystery.

This was by far the most unbelievable king novel. Over the top silly. I hope that this is not a trend.

A Future Army

I enjoyed reading this story. As time goes on and technology advances, the possibility of robots becomes a very real possibility.

Great read.

Lots of drama made this story fast, suspenseful, and fun. Cancer is called upon once again to save the world. Can he do it, or does the evil beat him. Read and enjoy.
