My Jurassic Mate

Rate this book
Four unmated alien lizard men from each of the three warring tribes.
Twelve human women sent to live out the rest of their lives on their planet.
You do the math.

Ash
After many cycles of the farthest sun we have spent living in fear of our tribes dying out, the gods have answered our cries for help and blessed us with females for whom we burn. However, I cannot allow the other tribes to get a hold of them, knowing how they have mistreated their women in the past. I must protect these small, delicate females at all costs. But how can I focus on such an arduous task when my soft little mate, my Gaby, torments me with her large, pleading eyes and a scent that brings out the beast I never knew slumbered within me? For all the savagery I have accused the other tribes of, I am beginning to wonder whether I am truly any different.

Gaby
So, basically, I was put in charge of a dozen girls last-minute to start a new life on Juras 5 as part of Earth’s attempt to test which other planets we can move to when we’re done ruining this one. What we weren’t told, however, was that the aliens living on the planet are over seven feet tall, covered in scales, and want us to have their alien lizard babies. As the co-captain, I’m supposed to be sticking up for my girls so we can make at least some kind of a normal life for ourselves here, but you’re not exactly considered a good diplomat when you spend more time banging the opposition instead of negotiating for your people’s rights.

A fated-mates sci-fi alien romance featuring a caring but misguided hero who seeks to protect the innocent, and an insecure but understanding heroine who needs to find the courage to speak her mind.

A lot of effort was put into making the twelve stranded women distinct personalities. I like that.

Solid series debut.

As is often the case with these "first in the series" books, I did not love the couple. At all. In fact, I was quite annoyed from beginning till the end.

BUT. Unlike other authors in serial romances, Michelle Deimos has put a massive effort into making the 12 women who are dropped on an alien planet distinct personalities that made sense.

Most romance authors focus on the male characters, taking pains to make them look mysterious and hot and whatever.

Well, Deimos really took pains to make her (future) heroines stand out.

I really liked that, do I will keep reading this series!

Also who doesn't love dinosaurs?

I was given an ARC copy of this book and thoroughly enjoyed it! Now need more of this group of characters. The women are sent to this planet in the hopes of successful matings to help 3 of the planets species, grow.

This story is about Gaby and Ash.

Ash is the designated leader of his group of dragon style beings.  You learn that each of the women (that we will learn more of), have been genitically matched. There is plenty of story building, re the different races and the conflict they all share. Despite coming together for the arrival of their mates, issues ensue and conflict. For Gaby and Ash, they have much to overcome, not the least, is the initial language barrier, but once resolved, they can all communicate with each other.

There is humour, which I love and touching moments for characters. Some you like, others, you just want to clip round the ears! :) But it is a great start and so need to read more, as each couple forms, over time. Thank you Michelle Deimos, for the opportunity to read this and follow you online. Now the lovely art makes sense. ;)

I loved this book and I DON'T KNOW WHY!!!!
I read a lot of alien romance. Like, a LOT of alien and monster romance. It's my go-to genre. I've read everything from alien abductions, to himbo husbands, to crash landings on the desert. This story is nothing new.
A bunch of human ladies volunteer to go live on an alien planet. Sure. Issue #1- there were WAY too many characters. 12 women and 12 males. I couldn't keep track of ANY of them. Plus, all the women were super vague. *Insert stock image of woman here*. None of their backgrounds were discussed, with the exception of the singer (yeah, one was a singer 🤷‍♀️). All these chicks get YEETED to a dinosaur planet, already matches up with our 12 dino dudes. I don't understand the science, but honestly, I didn't hate it. The poop immediately hits the fan as one tribe wants to murder their mates, and another wants to keep them as weird pets??? I dunno. These dino daddies obviously has some crazy backstory that was NEVER discussed. Our FMC was a total snore and was super wimpy, but whatevs.
Issue the 2nd- the language is SUPER weird. Some of the wording choices made no sense. Some of the dinos spoke like frat boys, while the others seemed really odd and used terms like "splendiferous". It was really jarring to read.

Honestly, it's not a good book. There were WAY too many characters, and I was confused 90% of the time...
***BUT***
I LOVED IT AND I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!!!
Seriously! I can't explain it! It's like the negatives totally cancelled out! I ended up really enjoying the book because the story was still engaging. There's a ton of subterfuge, and it makes you want to know more about the history and these individual tribes.
But Michelle, include a graphic or something. I could NOT keep all these bitches straight....

Honestly, this book is a little unhinged! But in a good way? It was never really predictable. It is fun, spicy, a little bit sweet, and a whole lot of cuckoo.

Humans volunteer to go to new planet on expedition
Aliens are in 3 different factions
Some language barrier
Fated mates
Dual POVs
Series starter, HEA for couple, new couple in sequels
Chasing, Primal, Breeding

Ratings:
Plot: 4 👍👍👍👍
Romance: 3.5 ❤❤❤
Spice: 4 🌶🌶🌶🌶
Overall: 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐(rounding up from 3.5ish)

Reasoning
Plot: As much as I am a sucker for humans abducted and stranded on alien planets, finding love and safety with primitive but sweet aliens trope, series openers in that milieu can be heavy because of the extra helping of trauma. It is refreshing to come across something that can avoid the whole I was kidnapped? Where Am I? I just want to go home My Jurassic Mate delightfully avoids this by having 12 women selected for a settlement expedition. They are aware of where they are going and that they will be living with aliens. (Some are more into this idea than others *wink wink*).

There were some issues with info dumping. It was a bit hard to track characters and plot with so many things being thrown in at once, a certain finesse was missing in the introductions. It started to fall into place when it switched to Gabby’s POV. There are still a lot of questions, as there should be with a series starter, but some of the things felt uncertain when they shouldn’t be. (I am still a bit unsure of timelines. When they mentioned a month had passed I was honestly taken aback). The pacing was good overall. I appreciated that it dropped into action. There is a lot going on in this realm, and a lot of drama to overcome. Let me repeat: unhinged and cuckoo, but in a good way! I'm getting my popcorn ready!

Romance: I don’t want it in every book, or even all that often, but it is so fun when the goal of the human MC is to have fun times with a monster/alien. I always want to start yelling “One of us! One of us!” This is also not always an easy character to write well. It can easily come off as fan service or quickly slips into fetishizing, which does not work in romance. It works with Gabby! It was not overdone. She signed up for the expedition with a goal in mind, but she never forgot that Ash was a real being and she was definitely a solid character.

This is a fated mates love story, and it is insta attraction, but there is work to make their relationship actually happen. They don’t just get together automatically (well, there may be one thing that happens quickly, but they don’t jump straight to the romance!) I enjoyed Gabby and Ash’s story, I liked their conflict and resolution. I liked their growth. Ash and Gabby both make frustrating decisions. There were times I wanted to shake them both. In truth, as a series starter, My Jurassic Mate had a lot of legwork setting up the world, introducing characters, and getting everyone where they need to be. That takes page time and story time away from our MCs and their romance suffered a bit for it. It was still there, and I still really enjoyed it, but I do wish they had a little bit more one on one time just learning each other.

Spice: The spice was excellent! It was monsterific, blue goo and wings included. There were a few different inventive fun times on page, open door, full description.

Overall: This was a good series starter! I am ready to read more! I feel like there is a lot of room for growth. I believe this is the author’s first full length novel, so I am very excited to see where she can go, especially with the groundwork laid! There are a few MC’s that I know will not be my cup of tea, as I have a preference for cozier, and tend not to go too dark/mean, but I am already so excited about others.

The book includes a link to detailed Content Warnings at the beginning.

I received an Advance Review Copy of this book. This review represents my unbiased thoughts.

- Fated Mates
- Language barrier
- Waring tribes
- Size difference
- Primal
- Not really Skesis but...skesis

If they knew why Gaby wanted to be a part of this mission they might not have let her participate. But really...it's what made her perfect for it. Ash's generation hasn't seen a female born yet, so when one of the enemy tribes said they were to be blessed with mates from the gods, it was met with skepticism.

Going into this book I was expecting hot and heavy spice, more smit than story, but that wasn't what I got. I was pleasantly surprised by how much story and growth was in this book. It was such a treat! When it's hot it's HOT though, it was so good and it didn't feel out of place at all when it happened. It fit right in and it was perfection.

Michelle wrote the strange language barrier so well. Trying to figure each other out until a device was implemented to allow them to communicate. Part of me was expecting the first mating to magically (or scientifically) let them communicate, so when that didn't happen it was more pleasant surprises.

The leviathan were probably the most interesting aspect of this book. Unfortunately I struggled to picture them as the author intended because all my brain could conjure was Skesis from The Dark Crystal. I'm not exactly mad at it, I would totally read a Skesis romance and it wouldn't be the weirdest thing I have ever read. Just made me laugh sometimes and that's all me. They are the go-between this world and earth, they speak English and have convinced the humans to send the girls there after one met Maya on an online game. They also have the strangest culture and habits. I am looking forward to possibly getting books from their side of the world.

Twelve human women undergo testing to send them to Juras 5 to live among the sentient beings that dwell there. Four members from each the three tribes, the leviathans, the dainosahauri, and the dra’ghon, gather to await the arrival of their mates. Ash (H), the chief of the dra’ghon, catches Gaby (h), as she descends, and then because he has concerns about how some of the other tribes treat females, he takes some of the women intended for other tribes back to the dra’ghon stronghold. Each of the mates feels a burning need for their mate that will only grow and progress through stages which require the fated mates to be together. There are clashes and debates over who should make these decisions for the women and what their lives should be on their new home. There are a lot of characters to keep track of – twelve humans and twelve aliens, though the focus in this first novel is primarily on Gaby and Ash and how their relationship progresses, their story is also impacted by the other characters too. The ‘big fight’ was a little challenging to keep track of who was doing what and I found myself glossing over some of the action and just getting to the outcome. The difference between the tribes was interesting and there’s going to be a lot going on in the series – twelve pairs, twelve books. Definitely plenty of hot and steamy action between Ash and Gaby - heard of the mile club? Looking forward to the next book/ couple, Cayenne and Kolyatch, and finding how that’s going to go given his position regarding a mate.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶.5

I was pleasantly surprised! This book has spice, character development, action, strong women, alien world, a good storyline, and more! I do wish there was a bit more for the world building, but what there is written is good!
I do wish the epilog pertained to Gaby and Ash, but it leaves it open for the next book. Which I am so excited for!!

But Gaby is an alien lover. She's just shy about it. But when the opportunity arises for her to go to an alien planet, she takes it!
12 women are sent to this alien planet.
There are multiple sentient being that are awaiting their mates. Ash is among them, and he is the chief of the Dra'ghon. One of the alien species. And he feels his heartburn for one of the human women among the 12.
Gaby is a shy woman who just wanted an alien lover. But she was made co-captain, but she isn't as confident in herself as she would like. She's shy to be hwo she is infant of the other woman.
But ash is determined to show her that she is his and he is happy and proud off her. Gaby has great character growth, and so does Ash.

It is a fairly short read, but it's good :)

This is going to be a 12 book series!

I had high expectations for this because well I love dinosaurs, aliens and smut. Michelle Deimos not only met them but blew them out of the water!

My Jurassic Mate is book 1 in the Jurassic Mate series and focuses on Gaby and Ash, Chief of the Dra’ghon clan. Gaby and the other women who volunteered to travel to an alien planet were met with more than they expected as soon as they land on the planet, Juras 5.

Michelle did a wonderful job with the world building. I’m a sucker for great world building and I was not disappointed in the slightest. Seriously loved the attention to detail, I was easily able to picture everything.

Now on to the characters. There was a bunch of them… Twelve women plus our aliens… so I freaking hope that means we’re getting a bunch of books in the series! I seriously loved all of them and seeing the difference between the three tribes: the Dra’ghon, the Dainosahauri, and the Leviathans. And the spice was hooooooooot. That primal play? Oh yes yes yes! Seriously I need more, more and some more. I cannot wait for more in the series!

I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys monster or alien romance!

Disclaimer: I received an ARC from the author in exchange for a fair review

I intended to read this over the weekend and make a cute little "currently reading" graphic for Instagram, but the moment I started reading, I didn't want to put it down. MY JURASSIC MATE is a fast-paced read that is fun and sexy and steamy. The characters are charming, even the ones that creep me out a little. I like the foundation that Deimos is building for what I hope is going to be a series of all of the mating pairs. The cultures, especially the Leviathans, are interesting and I am just as interested in the lore as I am in the romance. The only thing that took me out of the story at times was the dialogue when the planet's inhabitants couldn't understand the women and I had to reread several times to understand what was being said.

dnf dnf dnf dnf could not finish

Okay I got through to 52% before I called it could. Could it get better? Probably, will it for me? No.

I like a lot of weird shizzles but it needs to make sense. While the book was well written … no glaring editing mistakes, continuity seems okay. It felt messy to me and anxiety ridden because my normal complaint is not enough happens on screen but this was all over the place and more insta love but not enough background made it in you’re running blind and honestly not enough came through to be believable. She can make decent characters but this just was too many things mixing together than made it less pleasurable and more tedious for me. I won’t continue.

It's real rough. And that is so sad because that cover art is FIRE.

Huge info. dump, weird POV entrance, vocabulary stretches when unnecessary, convoluted action that makes you want to skip sections, dialogue is a mess and character responses are questionable.

It feels--very much--like a rough draft.

There are other reptile romances out there that feel more authentic, but this writing does feel earnest. I'm being mean, and I get it, but this work is not polished at all, and the chaos of such a cool world is ruined for it.

So I'm going to hand it to them for unique characters on the outset, but their introduction and interaction is such a jumble that I'm no longer interested.

It needs refining.

🌶️🌶️🌶️(when it is spicy, it is SPICY)

Wow. I ate this book up. Usually with books I have chronic attention problems, but this book did not let me tear my eyes away for longer than a quick snack or pee. The world-building, the characters, the plot, it sucked me IN. The introduction was superb.

----

Let's start talking about the world-building, because it really captivated me. The mating mark was fascinating and I am still a bit confused as to how it appears (are they born with it, or is it applied?). I love that there was multiple species introduced among the 12 alien mates, I wish I was better at picturing that stuff in my head. I also really loved the introduction we got to some of the 12 girls, I really grew to like them (I love Striga and Sonia, and Maya is a badass). I loved the humour and relationships between them. Also Scylla's weird human speak is amazing and I kinda love him? Also fascinated by Hydra and I want to know more. Cetus also has two dicks? I NEED MORE!!!!!

“I don’t want to deny the things they’ve done, but you have to remember one thing about monsters, Ash: most of them still have a beating, bleeding heart,” he tells me. “Dra’ghon, dainosahaur, or leviathan, we all feel the same pain when we don’t know whether our mates are safe."

Ash. A loveable knuckle-head that I grew to love. I am happy he began listening to others, and even more grateful that Gaby is such a strong woman.

Gaby. I fucking love her and I wish I was her. She is a proud monsterfucker and she grows to be shameless by the end. She wanted alien dick, and she GOT IT! I love that her first interaction alone with Ash ended with her getting head. I love that he almost literally devoured her.

I love this book, I finished this book in the same day!! The characters are so amazing and I can’t wait to read each couple! As soon as I read the book I RAN to my Amazon to buy the paperback😅 I can’t wait to have the full book series on my shelf next to each other! This book is totally worth the read it’s different from other romance books but that’s what also makes it exciting! If you want a fated mates book with romance but also a hella good plot line with some action then this is a must read!

Think Ice Planet Barbarians but in the jungle…

I received this as an ARC and devoured it in a day! It was spicy and sweet and unexpectedly funny!

12 women are sent on a one-way trip to Juras 5, a jungle planet where the natives are in desperate need of mates. What follows is a wonderful adventure with all my favourite tropes – Fated Mates, Language Barrier, and (ahem) Size Difference!

The women were a wonderful mix of strong and sassy, and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series to see them all fleshed out. Gaby (MFC) straddled the hard line of doing the right thing by her fellow humans and jumping the bones of her reptilian mate. Ash (MMC) is a little misguided, believing he knows best and refusing to re-evaluate when new information comes to light. He is stubborn, but really believes he’s doing the right thing. Their relationship isn’t smooth sailing but when they get it right – boy do they get it right!

The only downside is it’s on the short side – I would have loved to read more about Gaby and Ash! I’m hoping we see more of them in future books!

I found this book different from most books. It starts off immediately grabbing my attention. It’s definitely about divergences of opinions, but who’s to say who’s right? Then it feels like Alice in Wonderland where everything seems so mixed up. No one group can agree with the other. Give them a choice or choose for them? Each group firmly believe they are right. The right choice will either alienate all or result in true love.

I liked the premise for this series. I has a good setup for more books. The FMC is fun and likeable. The MMC got to be a little frustrating toward the end continuing what he thought was the right thing to do.

✨ARC Review! I received an early copy of this book and this is my honest review.✨

I was really excited to get my ARC of this. Overall I thought this was a good start for a new series. I’m rating Jurassic Mate ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.75/5)!

Twelve women volunteered to be beamed to another planet to live amongst the natives there. The natives being three tribes of dinosaur aliens.

Trouble immediately starts as soon as they get to their new planet. These tribes don’t like each other at all and what was supposed to be an equal division of the “goddesses” turns into a fight to keep them all. Ash from the dra’ghon tribe (a herbivorous flying group) decides he wants to keep all the women within his tribe to keep them safe. The other two tribes seem a little crazy to outsiders. The dainosahauri are carnivorous land dwellers who are pretty aggressive. And the leviathans are water dwelling omnivores who are very cult like and believe in replacing body parts with robotics.

The main plot line in this book is centered around Ash’s decision to keep the women from their heartburn mates (their planet’s version of fated mates). He also has to deal with his mate, Gaby, and their struggle to form a relationship and trust one another.

This book did feel a bit like an info dump for the first half, but it’s a huge cast of characters. I personally struggled to like Ash. He was very arrogant in thinking he knew what was best for the women and it took a lot for him to finally see reason. However, his flawed thinking is also really relatable and I can see why he does the things he does.

My favorite character ended up being Kolyatch who was the villain in this book. I’m really looking forward to the next book since it’ll be focused on him!

Overall I liked how the plot played out in this book. The premise of this book is so unique and I’ll definitely be reading all the books that come out!

I am a newsletter subscriber for this author and when she started dropping hints about this book months ago, I was super excited. This looked really different and since discovering Susan Trombley a couple of years ago, I have been all over non human men. I love me a good alien romance, shout out to Ella Maven and Honey Phillips, and am currently slowly savoring Soul to Keep by Opal Reyne.

Why mention all these other books? To show that I am a fan of this type of genre and wasn't bothered by Ash's dinosaur resemblances and any problems I have with this book are from the writing, not the subject matter. When the call went out for ARC reviewers, this was a big requirement- if you think it isn't your thing, then it isn't your thing. But this is my thing and I was excited to get a chance to read this first. But when I started it, I had a hard time with it. To begin with, the 3 main tribes seem kinda the same. Obvious things separated them, like one can fly and one lives in water? Don't leviathans live in water? Anyway, I was like it will sort it's self out, they are just being introduced.

Then we get to meet Gaby. The second thing that really took me away from the story was when the author was 'introducing' the females who are being sent to Ash's planet, they are identified by their hair color. And it's always "The girl with..." Like the girl with blond hair, the girl with short black hair, the other girl with blond hair, etc. Why? It got old really fast when you have so many females to introduce and they all get identified by their hair color first. We can't see them; telling us their hair color first is useless. We are not in a room together and you are pointing them out to us. It just really irked me then and even now having to relive it for this review.

Then there was the first love scene. She just follows this alien, who somehow is suddenly taking a shower, that just kidnapped you and just take off your clothes so you can shower too? It made no sense because they can't speak to each other and it was just immediate clothes off. Why? Then it happened and she enjoyed it, great. But she gets shamed by some of the other women because surprise, the government didn't tell the women they were going to help with re-population, so most of the women aren't even thinking of these aliens as partners.

After an indeterminable time has passed, one of the other tribes that Ash "saved" the other women from comes by and even though all the tribes fought tooth and nail for whatever females fell from the sky and Ash mentioned to his other tribe mates that he didn't trust them, he lets one small group into their hideout. Why let people you don't trust into your home? After this another indeterminable amount of time passes and the male aliens decide that the females should learn how to fight. Ash takes a second to have a moment where he adjusts Gaby's spear, but the other guys start giving him crap. While they are arguing/deciding their next move, the women decide that now is the time to figure out how mating would work with the aliens, so they start drawing pictures in the dirt of naked people. Then he draws figures of how things will happen, from the moon in the sky to positions to pregnant women laying eggs. Somehow they are able to draw all of these detailed pictures in the dirt! I had to to tap out.

I can let a lot of things slide, suspend reality for a bit if the writing and story are done well. This was just a jumbled mess that I gather from other reviews gets better, but it was just too much for me. I had to force myself to read what I did read because I just could not get into it. I have dreaded writing this review because of how much I was looking forward to this book and how much it disappointed me.

My Jurassic Mate by Michelle Deimos

My Jurassic Mate was the first I’ve read written by Michelle Deimos, and it wasn’t bad. I’d give it a 3.5/5 for the story, and 2/5 for 🔥.

This story follows along our main male character, Ash, and our main female character, Gaby. Gaby’s story starts with preparing to move to another planet to ensure its viable for human life, Juras 5. This planet is one the humans learned about through accidental communication between one of the ladies, Maya, and one of our “lizard aliens”. Gaby becomes co-captain of the group of 12 women being sent to Juras 5, and once the women transport to the new planet, they learn what all their testing was actually for.

Ash, our chief of the dra’ghon, one of the three tribes on Juras 5, takes his tribesmates and meets with the remaining tribes, dainosahauri and leviathans, on the top of a volcano to receive a gift from the gods, mates. There are twelve “lizard aliens” (I see them more as dragons, honestly!) and they are matched perfectly 1:1 with the women. After the women arrive, Ash takes it upon himself to keep them all safe from the other tribes as he recalled they have a combined history of forcing themselves on women, mutilation, and the desire to “rid” of their mates. The remainder of the book follows along the battles of keeping the women safe, and the growth of Gaby and Ash’s relationship.

All in all, I enjoyed the story. I enjoyed the premise of it - I am a true sucker for a fated mates book - and I thought it ended very sweetly. My reason for giving this story a 3.5 is I was hoping for more character development for both Gaby and Ash. Or maybe just faster development. Ash was mostly self important and self righteous, and I found that to make him a bit insufferable; I still developed a crush on him by the end of the book, though, so it wasn’t a total turnoff. Gaby didn’t have a backbone for a majority of this story - she stuttered everything she said, allowed people to tear her down and judge her, and never really stood up for herself. As an appointed co-captain, I was expecting more of her, and much faster. Both did have a large character development, but it took all the way until about 90% into the book for that to happen. Also, if it’s important to you, there isn’t much spice in this book. There is one scene, however, that takes place in flight… YUM 🥵.

If the epilogue is any indication, the next story in the series would be for the main “villain”, Kolyatch, and he was someone I was very interested in learning about the entire time I was reading this book. I’m very excited for it, and I’m looking forward to reading it when it comes out.

Thank you Michelle Deimos for the ARC opportunity.

This book was one of my most anticipated releases of this year, and I couldn't wait to read it, and it did meet my expectations and more.

I love the world building of this book, it is so interesting, varied and original. This book is a great start to the series, it shows potential for the series and teases the reader for upcoming books and relationships between characters.

The pace of this was perfect for me, although it does have alot of world building and information, I think it was well-balanced.

The imperfections of the main characters and side characters were also shown which I loved, and think was really good to have a role, as it's a fact that people can be misguided, even though they want to do something right.

Their is amazing character development in this book, which I adored, especially the developments in Gaby, how she became more courageous, spoke her mind and imporved in her actions.

Ash is so sweet with his interactions with Gaby, he tries to do the right thing, and gives his best to be the leader that he wants to be and that others deserve.

I can't wait to read about other characters in the series, especially Kolyatch. The second book - My Jurassic Villian was just announced and I am so excited for it. I am also so excited for her next release - The Prince of Broken Toys in The Puppet-String Duet.

ARC Review, 3.5 stars
I've been super impatient waiting for this unique book to come out, dinosaur-men aliens? Heck yeah!
I really enjoyed the originality of the story, the outdoor setting and the idea of the lizard men having a sort of glowing indicator of love on their chest which their mate can see, that's a great way to feel very secure in a relationship!

Going into it, I think I was expecting more of a couple centric story and mostly romance, but this is much more than that, this is like a huge adventure with much world building, creation of cultures for different types of Dino guys and exploration of the group of women's beginnings of the journey to another planet. There's a lot going on! I did find myself getting a little lost as many characters are introduced at once and from many different backgrounds, it was a bit hard keeping everyone straight for awhile, but I know that much like the first episode of a new tv show, that deluge of characters gets you set up for the entire series. I actually liked the villain the most, Kolyatch, he just seemed really interesting and I wanted more of him and his mate, Cayenne, so I'm excited about their book! I also was curious about the dude with a robotic eye.

The steamy scenes are great, although the lack of language and really knowing each other yet in the first couple was harder on my demisexual brain, but other readers likely won't have that trouble. Still very hot and very well written. (There's glowing blue goo!) And our hero Ash has wings so maybe something exciting happens with that. 😏

I really appreciate the amount of care and passion that the author puts into her books on topics like equality, doing what's right, etc and the impassioned discussions her characters often have about them, which are very much present here.

This is a good start to what I think will bloom into a fantastic series now some of the groundwork has been laid. It's not super smutty or fast, but if want to go on an adventure and have a real experience with plenty of emotions and steam that happens at a more realistic pace, with a language barrier included, this is the read for you.

Wow, that was one heck of a book! I loved it and can't wait for the next one to see how the next couple goes. It certainly was different.

The world building was absolutely fantastic; we are introduced to this new world with 3 different tribes of aliens (leviathans, dainosahauri, and dra’ghon). Each has massive issues with the others. A group of human girls on earth are trained for a mission to another planet; only one of the girls knows the true reason. They're going to the planet to be mates to some of these aliens.

Though this was a bit confusing at times; it was hard to keep track of all the characters. Some of the females seemed to be interchangeable. This book was mainly about Gabby and her alien mate Ash; but it also focused on another couple. The end actually leads up to their story (which I believe is next in line). I still enjoyed this read, and I plan on reading the next one. I'd like to see how this evil dude redeems himself.

There wasn't a whole lot of spice; it was more focused on the plot rather than the spice. But what spice there was 🥵🥵 whew it was well done. That flying scene *chef's kiss*

Somethings I didn't like and why I took away a star:
- Too many characters. There were so many characters, and they were hard to keep track of sometimes.
- Got a bit confusing at times with the way the aliens talked to each other
- Stupid men thinking they always know whats best and refuse to listen to a female😮‍💨

What I enjoyed:
- The world building; the mating mark sounds interesting, I'd love to learn more about that and how it works 🤔
- The 3 different tribes of aliens; each one was so different, but it seemed like atone point in the waaaaaaaaaay way past they all lived peacefully together before something tore them apart and made them hate each other.
- The character development for both Gabby and Ash throughout the book. They both grew as characters and were perfect for each other by the end.
- The Humor
- The way Gabby became a badass
- The Spice

Thank you to the author for a chance to ARC read this.

Arc Review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars
🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 spice

I first seen this book advertised in early January and I’ve been excited to get my hands on it ever since. I preordered the ebook on Amazon as soon as I could and I was lucky enough to get an arc copy and couldn’t be more pleased. I started reading this book Friday before I had to leave for work. Just a chapter in and I was hooked. I didn’t want to put it down. I love monster and alien romance which should be of no surprise to anyone on my Goodreads or Bookstagram account so this was right up my ally.

This book follows a bunch of women who volunteer to travel to an alien planet, and the alien men already inhabiting it. Unbeknownst to these women they are thrust into an unstable environment between three warring clans. The trouble starts from the moment they arrive on this planet and continues throughout. Our two main characters are Gaby, co captain of the women arriving on Juras 5, and Ash Chef of the Dra'ghon tribe. The spice starts almost as quick as the other action does. Lol

There is a lot of world building and a ton of characters to remember. I found myself a little confused off and on throughout the book. I love world building in books, it helps bring me into the me story, especially if it’s going to be an ongoing series. The characters were harder for me to follow. We have twelve human women, and three tribes each with four men and their own customs. I had to go back and reread parts to understand who we were talking about at times. However even with all the characters this was a good book. Overall I enjoyed the fast paced action. There was never a dull moment without something happening. And the plot played out very well. I honestly can’t wait to see what happens next in this world.

The spicy scenes were great and the primal play was wonderfully done. Perfect addition to an alien or monster book and always a favorite of mine.

Please visit the authors website for trigger warnings. And if you like alien or monster romance I definitely recommend giving this book a try when it releases on March 23rd!

4/5 stars
I love reading books that explore new worlds, without the possibility of returning to earth (as a lot of alien romance books do or when they can't it is a main plot point for them to search for a way to get home). For me this is exciting, because I would have been a lot like Gaby in my willingness to sign up for this project. Overall I really enjoyed the world building and I am very curious about how these next books will play out.

My favorite tropes from the book:
-Primal Play
-Breeding
-Language Barrier
-Fated Mates

Point Of View (POV): First person, Dual
Heat level: 2.5 / 5 peppers
Cheating: no
Separation: only for a couple of days
HFN/HEA/OTHER: HEA

H (Hero/MMC) rating: 3/5. I felt so mixed on Ash. At first I loved him, but by the second half of the book I wanted to smack him or something, thankfully he sort of redeemed himself by the end but I was worried. I understood he believed in his need to protect the girls, but I just wanted him to hurry up and come to realization that just because you believe you are doing good doesn't mean you are.

h (heroine/FMC) rating: 4/5. I really loved that Gaby had not reservations about the possibility of doing naughty things with aliens. What knocked her down in my eyes was how long it took her to stand up for herself. She wasn't a bad character I just felt she took a while to find her voice and at least defend herself if nothing else. I also liked that during the end of book area conflict that she didn't fully give up on the MMC, that she made a plan and worked on putting it into place.

The reason this didn't get 5 stars from me:
Mostly because this is the first book in a series built in this new world there are a ton of new characters which means a lot of names to remember, they will become clearer with each book obviously but it was just a bit of an information dump for me. Along with the characters we are learning about these three tribes and their dynamics, but I know the next several books are probably going to really clear it all up and answer a lot of questions for me. The final thing I sort of wished for was there were certain points in time when we are reading from Ash's POV and I actually was more curious to read from Gaby's POV during those particular scenes. Normally I feel like getting the male POV from authors is difficult as we usually see a lot of the females perspective but I felt I needed more of Gaby's so I could understand her better. There was a couple of times where I was super curious how she was feeling/thinking about certain situations.

I still really enjoyed this book even with a lot of things left unknown, and my curiosity is killing me because I just have to have the missing puzzle pieces filled in. I need to know more about Hydra and Kolyatch's tribes.

I'm here to leave a review as an ARCreader.
I was very excited to read this book since I saw it everywhere. It had a promising plot and an underlying excitement for more books with this many characters. It had some of my favorite elements: chasing, breeding, and fated mates (Definitely check TW warnings please)
I admit it throw me straight in the middle at first, but it got understandable pretty quickly.
I honestly don't know if I wanted to laugh or just simply cringe whenever the 3 tribes were together. They were hectic, to say the least. In the end, it was clear every one of them had a reason for their behavior but it was still strange. Which is exactly what it's supposed to be, they are aliens after all.
It is pretty surprising considering how many alien romances I've read, but she wants to carry alien babies which was new to me. New but not unexpected. Gaby got some shaming for enjoying herself at first but she learned how to stand up for herself. And Ash. He just wanted to protect everyone but it was simply not possible. I think he still has a long way of learning about acceptance but his character had developed as well.
I read some views before reading it myself and everybody's first reaction was how terrible it was to have so many characters at once. It was certainly confusing, maybe it could have been done with more groups and fewer people at once, but it was still enjoyable for me.
In conclusion, it was a quick and cute read. I am interested in reading about the other mates and discovering more about this world. I hope we can have sneak peeks about Ash and Gaby in future books.
