Spearcrest Kings #2

Spearcrest Prince

Rate this book
I’ve never met a woman impervious to my charm.
And they all accept my terms—an evening of fun, a night of pleasure, and then we’re done. They leave my bed satisfied, and I keep my heart intact.
Until Anaïs Nishinara comes crashing into my life. Our parents arrange our engagement, and they send Anaïs to my school so “we can get to know each other”.
Except she’s not interested in doing that. She’s a weird loner who prefers her sketchbook to the glamour of my old money lifestyle.
I don’t want Anaïs—I don’t even like her. So why can’t I seem to keep away from her?

Séverin Montcroix is a rude, spoilt, arrogant aristocrat.
And now I'm engaged with him and attending the prestigious Spearcrest Academy where he rules as one of the Young Kings. But I don't believe in kings—or princes, or fairy tales, or love.
I believe in myself, my art, and my plan to get out of this engagement.
Except that for someone who claims to hate being engaged to me, Séverin just refuses to leave me alone.
Is he playing games, or does he have a plan of his own?
And why is it getting harder to resist his attempts at seduction?

Spearcrest Prince is a new adult standalone arranged marriage romance set in the hallowed halls of the prestigious Spearcrest Academy. It contains graphic sexual scenes which may not be suitable for all readers.

Almost four stars, but these are almost four stars that I wouldn't probably recommend, because even though I basically devoured this book, the amount of things I hated here was astronomical.

The heroine, however, was pure perfection, and then when Sev became obsessed with her, I started to like him even though he was a spoiled, too full of himself brat.

“I didn’t know you smoked.” I point at his cigarette.“That’s a disgusting habit.”
“I know.” He rolls his eyes but immediately tosses his cigarette to the floor and stomps on it. “I’m quitting.”

I'm also pretty sure this man will spend half his life on his knees with his head between her thighs, so I liked him okay

Oh là là! How incredibly deliciously convincingly French this book was!💕💕💕

Disclaimer: there are a LOT of French phrases, so if you know the language you'll love it, if you don't you'll spend a lot of time translating it🤷🏼‍♀️

I didn't expect to love this book, even to like it tbh. The previous book of this series was a disappointing DNF, so it's only a miracle that I considered checking this one out/ HOW GLAD I AM THAT I DID! 👑

The hero, Severin, a beautiful, spoilt French aristocrat, used to wear his heart on his sleeve and be the true romantic in every sense of the word, but he got burned and now considers love a poison. He's the Lothario of his friend group, but even that he does with a true French charm. His forced engagement to the heroine he views as a burden and plans to ignore the girl when she transfers to his school.

THE HEROINE IS ONE OF THE BEST FEMALE PROTAGONISTS EVER!!!!👑👑👑👑👑👑Anaїs has a plan: to finish this elite boarding school in England, where her fiancé happens to also study, to get her qualifications and move to Japan to live with her brother, study art and be free of the control and expectations of her billionaire parents. She has zero interest in Severin, ignores him completely and is focused on her dreams and plans.

They meet accidentally and sparks fly, but then they learn who they are to one another 😂👌🙌💕
I LOVED how bothered the hero was by how unbothered by him the heroine was🤣 He slowly but surely fell for her first and the fall was a glorious sight to see!

Anaїs was truly a Queen: she was so true to herself and didn't hesitate to be honest with the hero. If she wanted to kiss him, she would do it; if she wanted to sleep with him, she would do it. There was no disconnect between her actions and inner monologues, a fact that plagues 95% of FMC nowadays. She was cool as a cucumber around him, when he lost all his shit because of that, and THAT was freaking perfect!

French love hit me differently here. Severin lost his façade of an unfeeling fuckboy and when he welcomed love into his heart, the things he would SAY to her, were truly magnificent! Unless your boyfriend/husband is a French love poet, all of you need to read this book to experience said romantic phrases once in a lifetime! 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵❤❤❤❤❤

THE LOVE DECLARATION AT THE END WAS EPIC. NOWHERE HAVE I SEEN SOMETHING LIKE IT! Especially given the fact that they are still in high school🤯

Without the epilogue the ending felt a bit abrupt, but since it's a series, hopefully we'll see more of them! 🙌🙌

Also, Luca is the most intriguing friend out of their guy group, so I can't wait to read his book, sad it's gonna be the last one in the series😅😫

“Anaïs Nishihara.” My voice is low and rough. “Your presence in my life is a constant torture. Your existence causes me nothing but pain and suffering. You’re slowly driving me mad, and I don’t know how to stop it.”

i fear i've used enough Google Translate for the rest of my life. ronan & teal were never this good. i'm sure if I ever reread it, i'm going to dislike it, but I enjoyed it too much to give it anything less than four stars.

AURORA REED YOU HAVE DONE IT AGAIN!! somehow this was even better than the first book was and i loved the first book way too much. this book just topped it. SEVANAÏS YOU WILL ALWAYS BE LOVED ME!!! this book was refreshing in so many ways. from these two characters who had very distinctive personalities but somehow made it work and their banter was just top tier. i genuinely caught myself cheesing in those small moments where they went back and forth with each other.

“Do you remember when I asked to kiss you, that time in your room?”
“I remember.” She pulls a face. “How could I not? You keep bringing it up.”
“Well, it’s your turn, trésor. Ask me.”
“Why?” she asks, frowning. “I know you want to kiss me.”
“Because.” I take her waist, pulling her closer. “I’m always the one to beg. I want to hear you ask this time. Come on, trésor, ask me. Make it pretty.”

anaïs nishihara might just be one of my top favourite book girls like she's my princess through and through. being in her POV was just comforting and almost felt like i knew her. i could see so much of myself in her. she was everything to me and the fact that she remained herself throughout and would give her shit back to séverin...yeah that's MY GIRL.

séverin montcroix had me weak in the knees and no i will not be standing up im sorry. on top of him being the MAN that he is, he's also a man who's decked out in gold chains and gold rings and he technically comes from moroccan heritage so....that was an immediate yes from me! regardless of whatever sev said he was so down bad for anaïs like i don't know who he was trying to fool like not even iakov believed him. at the same time, sev is somehow so precious to me. he instantly won me over in beginning where he stated how he loved so easily.

The way I think about Anaïs even when she’s not around, the way I want her—all the time. How I feel when I’m around her, simultaneously on edge and relaxed, annoyed and amused, frustrated and satisfied. Love is poison, and Anaïs is handing me the cup.

you know when you love two character so much and you're rooting for them and just want them to be together already...that was me with séverin and anaïs. the angst, the will they/won't they, on top of being in an arrange marriage and the pressures they feel from that?? the moments where sev would anaïs his wife...I DIED. i love when marriage of convenience books or arranged marriages have those type of scenes like they hit so much. i ate everything in this book UP especially the little evansophie crumbs and the crumbs we get of zach and theo which i cannot wait to read more of. i'm also really hoping kayana gets her own book :))

if you love:
✮ boarding school/private school set in england
✮ arranged marriage
✮ a little fake dating
✮ rich boy x rich girl
✮ boy obsessed
✮ boy falls harder
read this book !!

THAT ENDING WAS SO FUCKING CUTE I LITERALLY FEEL SICK TO MY STOMACH????? technically anaïs is his muse right????? im going with that and same goes to her like that was so cute i have no words. i need to have an arranged marriage with a french rich boy asap it's not a joke anymore. also we love to see anaïs's brother just meddling to get them together i love him.

aurora if you're reading this i would do ANYTHING to get an extended epilogue of both evansophie and sevanaïs i need it SO BAD !!!!

This book is actually an offense to arranjed marriage trope and i’m not even kidding. There’s simply no development and Sev is one of the worst characters i’ve ever read. He’s insufferable has no personality whatsoever and the whole meredith grey line “love me. choose me.” made me want to vomit actually

I genuinely just hated Sev, why?
-prick
-constantly saying FMC "wasn't his type", but still wanting to fuck her??
-man whore🤕
-comparing FMC's looks to other girls'🤢
-bro truly had me believing she was some hideous creature
-he compared FMC to a goblin at some point🥰
-annoying
-just putting down her looks left and right
-what's character development??
Then while they were starting to figure out that they had feelings for each other, he of course is denying it because he was hurt in the past and "love is poison"🤧. So at some party she's not allowed to even talk to other guys, while he makes out with a random girl, staring dead ass at the FMC??? Wanting FMC to watch??
-he's gross, should get checked

i am a huge fan of arranged marriage trope and this was so well written i really enjoyed it!! anais and sev were such a great pairs. loved to see a h that can hold her own against the H and wasn’t just falling for him so easily. 🤩

would give this a better rating if it wasn't for all the french dialogue that the author didn’t provide translation for. i have to keep using google translate to understand half the book :/

why is this book over?? my heart is so full after reading Sev and Anaï’s story i can’t 😭

usually, i never go for books with the arranged marriage trope because the times i’ve read books with that trope, i ended up hating them which i thought would be the case for this story as well. the whole reason i picked up this story in the first place was because if i dedicate myself to a series, i dedicate myself and read every book in said series in the right order - thank god i read this.

in this story, we meet Séverin and Anaïs who both come from rich families. both of them were set up to have an arranged marriage to bind their families even though they had never met before. Anaïs is new to Spearcrest and has no idea what she’s in for, especially the whirlwind that is Séverin Montcroix.

“J’t’adore. J’t’adore et je te veux, tout le temps, pour toujours. Je te veux dans mon lit, dans mes bras, dans mon âme. Sois mienne.”

all in all, i devoured this book! it was sooo much cuter than i expected and i definitely love these two’s book far more than Evan and Sophie’s story. they got a proper ending with a good closing, there was chemistry and some hot smut shared between them at many different parts in the book, and i loveddd the banter between both of them.

i find that the girls in this series so far have a lot of backbone and actually know how to stand up for themselves regardless of who it is and i love that. such a refreshing change in comparison to other high-school/college romance series’ where the FMC’s simply let the MMC’s step all over them with no consequences.

also, my favourite part, THE NICKNAMES!! 😭💛 absolutely ADORABLE. i’ll let you read this story to find out exactly what nicknames i’m talking about and why i love them so much.

also 2.0, the french aspect of this story!! love love loved it!! the fact that BOTH Séverin AND Anaïs were french made me over the moon happy. i don’t think i’ve ever read a book with two french MC’s. made the story all the more better for sure.

“I love you Anaïs Nishihara, mon artiste, mon trésor. I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of loving you.”

The only reason I'm giving this book one star is because that's the lowest rating this plataform provides me, if I could I'd give my review with zero stars showing on top.
This is the worst book I have ever read in my entire life. I'm all for giving chances to see character growth, so I'm not the person who's going to judge or hate a character just because he was an asshole for half of the book, but I can't with this one. I'm also not the person to finish books im disliking to read, I've only done it with three books and for specific reasons, because I'm not going to torture myself by reading something I hate just to say I read it, but I had to finish this one to make my review and I really wanted to give it more chances because I LOVE Spearcrest Rose.
But back to the review. When I say this is the worst book I've ever read I'm not exaggerating, I thought it was Morally Blasphemous until this outrageous trash came in my life. The male protagonist is arrogant, immature, disgusting and every other bad adjective in all languages in the world, and if you think he's going to change at some point, sad to give you these news but he doesn't. He talks about the female protagonist with disgust every single time and when he doesn't it's not convincing because of his actions and before sayings. He even, I'm not going to give spoilers, did something at the end the it was the end for me, the thing he did out of rage and drunkness (he didn't hit her if that's what you think) was the END.
Nonetheless, this star that I was obligated to give was for my baby Zachary, but at this point I'm afraid to say excited to read his book because I was excited to read this one and I fell from a really tall cliff. I wasn't even going to review it because I can't put my hatred in words but I sent countless audios to friends crying out of rage.
At some point I even thought that the author made this character for us to hate him because I can't think of a single thing he did that could make people like him at all. I can't believe that anyone in the entire world who had the displeasure of coming across this book would like such a terrible book.
I'm being harsher on this review because this book really gave me headaches, I was so triggered by it that I cried (and I hardly cry). I don't have more words to say, but I'd like to leave this review with my final point.
If my review sounded repetitive is because I'm writing it right after I finished and I didn't want to wait until my head cooled down because I wanted to write it with my true opinion and put all of my emotions in here. I really love Spearcrest Rose, I think they deserved a full book more than Anaïs and Séverin and I didn't want to come and give such a harsh review because I like the author but I couldn't lie to my own feelings. I still think Aurora made it only for people to have a book to hate on, the male protagonist that they're going to hate while loving the other ones (I'm only saying, I haven't read the other ones and they could be as terrible as Séverin is). I just can't believe she went from sweet Noah to monster Sev.
And he's low-key misogynistic by the way, the way he treats Anaïs like a possession for then to be hooking up with other girls is really weird. Him saying she's a gold digger all the time while also saying she's just as rich as him is also infuriating. Him disdaining of her art, style and appearance just because she's not blonde and doesn't dress up the way he likes is disgusting. I've read books that the girl wasn't the guy's usual type but they weren't nearly as disrespectful as Séverin is, and if I saw growth in him I wouldn't even complain. I love complex characters that through the book learn things and grovel to their SO but even that they don't have. I pity Anaïs, I was hoping she'd end up with Kayana at the end.

AHHHHHHH

OH WOW!!! I loved this one even more than Spearcrest Knight!! Severin and Anais were such amazing leads. They had wonderful chemistry and I loved their push and pull dynamic so much. The tension of their arranged engagement benefited the story so well. As well as the forced proximity of them all being in spearcrest. I cannot wait for the other books in this series. Luca and his darkness intrigue me so much AND those Zach and Theo crumbs. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE REST OF THIS SERIES!!!!!

oh i LOVED this very very much. anaïs might be one of my favorite romance fmc probably ever??? i love an outsider and make her an artist on top of that? immediately she becomes one of my favorite characters ever. now i must admit i do not always connect with forced engagement/marriage stories. they just aren’t my favorite trope. BUT coincidentally i’ve read a few of those in the past few weeks and this story just kinda blew me away. literally made every other book incomparable to the love and angst i felt here. expect miscommunication but you will be surprised by how their relationship develops (or at least i was). maybe some people will be annoyed by the miscommunication but i think it was believable for two 18 year olds lol. also i think the pacing in this book in relation to the characters personalities made sense so i really had no complaints. it wouldn’t have made sense for this story to go any other way. i loved them! this is looking to be my fav book of january 2023. if this review sounds interesting but you’re uninterested because there is spearcrest knight preceding this, do not worry! interconnected but a complete stand-alone. while i didn’t love sophieevan as much i do think they’re worth the read but there aren’t any spoilers if you read this book because they take place within the same time frame.

“if i could tear her out of my head and burn her away, roots and all, i would. i would rip her out of my life and go back to tending pretty blooms” - this is REAL romance!!!

thank you to the author for an arc in exchange for an honest review 🫶🏻🫶🏻

When he's French and gives his future wife a cute nickname in his language you already know it's gonna be a good book.

“Tu seras toujours mon trésor. Le trésor de ma vie, de mon corps, de mon cœur. ”

There's an arranged marriage trope in this book and it's a romance between a photographer and an artist so I already knew they'd be likable. However, maybe I wasn't in the mood so I spent like 3 days trying to finish this I finished the other books in less than a day) so I can affirm they're my least favorites in the series but their book is still good. (Truly, Spearcrest Kings doesn't have a bad book.)

I hated Séverin sometimes because he's a bit childish, but Anaïs is such a calm, mature, and wise character so she was interesting to me and made this book worth it.

The Taylor Swift song for this book is Out of The Woods because there's a quote about Séverin not seeing colors in his life before Anaïs and everything being black and white before she came along and there's a similar line in OOTW.

I'm so excited to read the IakovZahara book next and so curious to know who's gonna be Luca's love interest. Aurora Reed became an instant-read author.

Come chat with me about books and Taylor Swift on my Twitter .

oh my god. this book exceed my expectation (after reading spearcrest rose, in which i felt like could've been better because we literally knew almost nothing about the love interest. anyway!). sevanaïs's story was very!!! heart eyes!!! i cannot express how much i love them. sev is a playful hopeless romantic and anaïs is the skeptic cold one. but, he ignited her fire, they threw snarky comments since their first meeting and would never stop getting on each other's nerves since. their dynamics and character developments also were beautiful to witness. i am going to miss these chaotic couple so much...

Okay, this is definitely better than the first book. There was a lot more emotion and a lot more angst than I expected and it was done very well. I love how Anais basically did not give a single flying fuck about Severin and made Severin work out his own issues and I loved every single minute of it. I am also a huge fan of french phrases and they got my google translate working overtime. I cannot wait for the next book of the series as this friend group is a different type of dynamic I am used to in most romance novels.

I loved their banter but unfortunately everything else was bad.

Sev was not loyal and i can’t get over that.. he can be with whoever he wants but it’s a problem if she talks with someone else. I overlooked him flirting & kissing girls in the beginning but like after they both kinda sorta developed feelings for each other he still kissed that girl … Hell no.

Ani was very much cold & overly calm … i expected some rage and anger when he destroyed her painting but she didn’t even care about it much !

I skipped through the story after chapter 36.

A decent story but I found it to be a little too drawn out and the relationship between the main characters felt forced at times. The tension between them never felt truly organic and at times it confused me when we'd see them go from perfectly fine with one another and having a normal conversation and then all of the sudden one of them was starting a fight about something. It made both of them feel too immature for my liking, as well as making the story frustrating.

It actually took me three days to finish this book, and to be fair I've had a lot of things going on this week, so maybe I can't fully blame the book on that but also it never made me want to come back and finish it.

rage and emotional maturity of a six year old kid and the fashion depiction of the hero is some low rent wannabe Dorian Grey.

gold dangling chains and jeweled rings---ma'am??

wtf kind of image am i to conjure up from that of a rich, french , arrogant, trash 18 year old?

also i am sorry am i fkn crazy or are authors usually supposed to add the translation or some semblance of context when their characters are communicating in a foreign language in a supposedly english book???

the only remotely good thing i can say is that their banter at some points was actually fun n flowed naturally.

the rest?
an absolute mess.
