Oh. My. Word!  What a story! Once again K.I. Lynn weaves a beautiful and heart-warming story, that has me pulling for Atticus and Ophelia. A story filled with love, romance, drama, sexiness, and witty banter. I had such a hard time putting it down

Atticus is the head of the De Loughrey conglomerate. He's bossy, forbidding, sexy and charming (only if he wants to). He'll go to any lengths to get what he wants. Ophelia, the woman who catches Atticus's attention, is stunning, feisty, and strong. Their relationship might have started based on a contract but somewhere along the way, the lines blur and it no longer feels contractual whatever they felt for each other. I like how Ophelia makes Atticus a better man and how protective he was of her. These two from completely different worlds were lucky to cross each other's path. I like how they complement each other.

This book was so good. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The character development was great and the storyline got me hooked. It is well-written and reading it has only increased my love of this author. If you are looking for something to read that will keep you captivated from beginning to end, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance. A must-read!

"I wanted to be with her forever."
description

Wicked Rule is the first book in the Heartless Kingdom Series. After reading The Rulers (the prequel), I could not wait to get more of the "Alpha" Atticus and the spunky and unstoppable Ophelia. Ophelia is a waitress struggling to make ends meet when she meets "the wicked king" Atticus. A man worth millions and full of arrogance and yet, she has no idea who he is. As Atticus is given "the keys to the kingdom", he is given some rigid guidelines to follow. To keep his status in his family and his company, he has to marry and have a child. When it comes to choosing a wife that will bear his children, the only woman he would ever consider to fulfill this role is the simple and endearing Ophelia. Ophelia, although hesitant at first, jumps in headfirst because she knows there is something special about Atticus. Perhaps she holds the fire that can melt his cold heart?

description
"You are so beautiful that I can't look away."
Told in dual POV, Wicked Rule is a complex romance full of passion, suspense, and intrigue! What makes this story unique is the family. At first, Atticus's family seems cold and undetached, and yet, as the story unfolds one of my favorite elements was witnessing the intricacies of the relationships between all of the different characters. My heart was in my throat half of the read as the sexual tension between the main characters is off the charts and yet, the joining of these two (both physically and emotionally) is well worth the wait.
"I'll eat you up Ophelia."
Overall, Wicked Rule will appeal to contemporary romance fans who enjoy a strong alpha hero who will do whatever it takes to rule in his kingdom. All he needs is the right queen! Ophelia is a stunning heroine and I could not help but be rooting for both of them every step of the way! K.I. Lynn never fails to amaze me with her powerful storytelling and unforgettable characters. The Heartless Kingdom promises to be another epic series and I cannot wait for more!

Coming May 2021!!

I’m going to make her my queen.

One wedding.
One child.
Five years.
Ten million dollars.

Those are the terms of our contract.

My offer is sound, bold, and necessary. In order to gain my inheritance, I have to have a wife.

She thinks her clause will keep me from having her skin on mine.

She’s very wrong.

The de Loughrey’s rule the world, and I am their king. I get what I want, and what I want is her.

I’ll have her beneath me no matter what.

4.5 The New Royalty Stars
* * * * 1/2 Spoiler Free
The Boardrooms Have Become The Kingdoms, Handed Down From Generation To Generation, All The While Fighting To Survive Come What May...Interesting idea but not necessarily something new. This idea has been approached and done before...and yet, it was a concept that K.I. Lynn came up with it while looking at a random picture.

To think of an idea, to create a family lineage, to understand it will be about an eight-entry series and present most of the characters to lay the necessary foundation for this Iconic Dynasty, and then follow through...

That is Friggin' Brave...
That is having Steel Lady Balls...

And Ms. Lynn accomplished what she had set out to do.
She took her idea and ran with it. She first gave us a taste with the prequel, The Rulers. It is the first 6 chapters of this book, Wicked Rule, yet as an insightful author, she set the table, so to speak, by getting her readers ready for what was to come while waiting for the release for Wicked Rule.

The Heartless Kingdom series is about a dynasty that was created like past iconic families, think the Ascots and Rockefellers. The name de Loughrey sends chills, excitement, fear, and desire all at once. They are the unnamed royalty of the modern world. Their hands are deep into everything that happens in our current society. The power may be front and center when needed or in the shadows, either way, it is immensely critical to how countries function.

The Wealth has No Limits. PERIOD
The Power has No Limits. PERIOD.
With this type of wealth and power, comes great responsibility.

All of this is now to be managed by Atticus de Loughrey, the heir, the caretaker of all. He has become the CEO of the company and when the grandfather recently passed, he decided to maintain control through his will. He declared that Atticus had to marry and have a child within a specific timeframe otherwise lose his position as head of the family.

This clause has caused Atticus unnecessary headaches as his father has deemed he should marry a woman who brings a specific company to the union. Atticus refuses to have a marriage of convenience like what his mother and father had. He will find his own person and on his terms.

As you figured out, Atticus decides to have a contract made, an obscene amount of money offered for a specific period of time and he will pick who he will be with. All within his control. His rules, his way.

I am not going to give you anything about this book because I went into it blind, reading The Ruler first because this wasn't out yet, and then I gobbled this up as soon as it released. This the genre of extreme wealth, the contrast of an uptight controlling man with a spirited warm sassy woman without means. It is the attraction these two have on a night where Atticus gets to be just a handsome, sexy man flirting with a woman celebrating her birthday alone at a club. It all starts from there and you will be captured and want it all if you give yourself to it fully.

I said K.I. Lynn was brave to create this series...well, I stand by that because I can't wait to see where all these many characters go.

2,5 ⭐️.

Gah....
My mistake for reading the exactly the same trope as the previous book... *facepalm*
Never do that...again! *note to herself*

So, I'm guessing this book could have beeen a solid 4, if there weren't any previously mentioned comparisons to the similar book I read just the other day...honestly, that was totally unintentional...I didn't notice or pay attention, well, not enough attention...so, my bad. *shrugs*

So, therefore, many things in this story made little or no sense, to start with...
For instance, these "royalty titles" they call themselves with sounded pretty presumptuous and it was annoying...they are just disgustingly rich and that fact alone does not justify the high oh mighty...

the whole arrangement was kind of weird - so, the contract had stipulation that she will get 10 million dollars in exchange for being his wife and having his child, then she puts a stipulation of "no sex" in the mix and now, I'm asking you, what's the point of having this contract at all?
Why would he go through with the whole charade...

oh, well, there might be many reasons - to spite his annoying, overbearing prick of a father, for one...then the fact that he already had a taste of our heroine, and he couldn't forget about her *roll eyes* (then why pursue her like that? well, cause he's a KING *roll eyes* and he always gets what he wants, and he really doesn't give into his feelings, cause well, he didn't have them until meeting the heroine...); then, the fact as simple as it is presented - because he could.

then, there were some lame drama instigators, in the form of pathetic brief manipulations of his two casual fucks socialite-barbies, who were only mentioned in words, until that one scene where they both express the outrage of him not choosing them for marriage???
the fuck did that come from?

We obviously needed conformation in black and white that our H (the great Atticus de Loughrey), this big mogul or whatever, has made a decision. Period.

Anyway, these seemingly little things interwoven into the storyline, just made me more annoyed, unfortunately...

This book had me hooked right from the start. What starts out as a hot steamy one night stand somehow turns into a fake marriage! Atticus is the head of a billion dollar conglomerate and is a hardcore workaholic. After a one night stand with Ophelia, Atticus can't get her out of his mind. Unexpectedly he sees her again at the same time he is given an ultimatum at work. He needs a wife fast.

Only Ophelia will not bend to this command. No, she gives him a run for his money. But how can she turn down this much money and not sign this "contract" to become his wife. It was so much fun watching these two develop actual feelings for each other and struggle with the fact that this could be real. Loved all the characters that were introduced and hopefully some of them get their own books.

This was a solid love story that was well written, kept my interest until the last page and had some hot steamy scenes. The characters had some funny one liners and witty comebacks that had me laughing out loud more than once. Looking forward to reading more in this series for sure!

OMG!! gw sukaaa.... gw pikir tu mafia romance kan, taunya bukan si.. masnya cuma "The Head of the Family" aka "The King" aahahahahahaa

too good to be true, tp proses buat saling cintanya itu lama banget, gak liat2an doang trs langsung jatuh cinta, ude gitu heroine nya kick ass!! gw suka banget kl mereka ude eyel2an, dan si Hero yg gak pernah ditentang, gak ada yg berani.. ujungnya ngalah, kalaupun menang die akan merasa sangat bersalah setelah itu kr arogan ehehehehe

Ceritanya tu

Gw suka kan novel yg duduk ngobrol, saling mengenal satu sama, gak instan cintanya XD
gw nungguin Horisson ini, sama sepupunya Atticus, blm ada yg keluar huhuhuhu

This book is a mouthwatering ride that is full of angst, lust and steam so hot it will leave you panting for more!

Atticus is one broody hot alpha who knows what he wants and he gets it! He rules his kingdom with no regrets and so ruthless even the strongest men don’t dare to cross him! Every man had a weakness and his is in the form of a blonde temptress who is anything but meek!

Ophelia had lived a life that would make others tremble I fear but she fights against the odds and does what she can to find her way in life! A chance encounter with a gorgeous man changes everything and Ophelia must learn to navigate his world and it might be more than even she can handle!

This story sucks you in instantly and doesn’t let you go! Lynn did a phenomenal job at creating a story that’s full of nail biting, toe curling moments! The heat drips from the pages and as Ophelia tames her beast you can’t help but swoon at the sweet moments. Atticus is intimidating but also has a heart of gold!

I enjoyed these two amazing characters and can’t wait to get to know this broody family some more because this is just the beginning of a series that is going to become my new obsession I can already feel it because I was OBSESSED with Atticus and Ophelia I didn’t want their story to end and I hope to see more of them!

I absolutely enjoyed this book. Wicked Rule is the 1st book in the Heartless Kingdom series. This fake relationship/ marriage of convenience romance held my interest until the end. I loved both characters and inspite of their differences I loved their blossoming romance and seeing them slowly get to know each other. As head of the de Loughrey family, Atticus really was the Wicked King and I loved how Ophelia was able to handle him. These two had amazing chemistry throughout the tale and although a bit of a slow burn, their steamy scenes were wicked hott. There were some amazing side characters who caught my attention and had me wanting to know more and I can't wait to see if we get their books. The dynamics within the de Loughrey family made for some highly entertaining reading. Filled with angst, lust, love, romance, drama, sexiness, and witty banter this story will leave you wanting more. I can't for more books in this series. Wicked Rule was a fantastic read and I would highly recommend it to lovers of billionaire romance.

What started out with a bang, quickly fizzled out. Did not like the pacing of the story. I mean seriously, majority of the book is them being engaged, going through the push&pull, heroine finding her place in the new fam/world. Then the last third we get through some wedding planning and an eye roll worthy OTT dramallama just to make sure we really screwed any possible redeemable points of the book to hell. Honestly, the last third had me skimming and Ophelia became more and more unlikable. Girl just running at the first sign of trouble/misunderstanding. So much ragrets.

Atticus and Ophelia...They were amazing. The prequel to this book was just the beginning of the de Loughery world. This family will take you on a roller coaster. Ophelia was the perfect heroine for Atticus. Possessive Atticus was so swoony...

The chemistry was off the charts!!

Seriously.... The banter, possessiveness, the swoon worthy moments, the angst... The steamy moments..

This book has all the feels. Loved it!!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

I'm going to make her may queen. One wedding. One child. Five years. Ten Million Dollars. Those are the terms of our contract. My offer is sound, bold, necessary. In order to gain my Inheritance, I have to have a wife. She thinks her clause will keep me from having her skin on mine. She's very wrong. The de Loughrey's rule the world, and I am their king. I get what I want, and what I want is her. I'll have her beneath me no matter what.

This is the story of Atticus and Ophelia. Atticus has the weight of the world on his shoulder as he is now the head of the de Loughrey's family. The biggest, richest family in New York and he is set to be their king. He never blows of steam is always working and one fateful night his cousin talks him into going to a club which he was not thrilled about at all. But the moment he sees a woman who appears to be alone at the end of the bar and goes to meet her he might have been a little smitten but a heck of a lot attracted to her. This night leads to a night that neither one of them forget for a year. Now Atticus' grandfather has died and left him the head of the empire and a clause that he can't have it if he isn't married within a year of his death and has to produce a heir in five years. He is in a mess and his father is really pushing an arranged marriage. But Atticus is who he is and refuses but then comes up with a solution to this problem and he's more than capable of handling this like a business deal. I fell so in love with Ophelia and Atticus. I really liked him and totally loved her but as your read you will understand more of Atticus and fall head over heals with him too. This is a story of complete opposites. One rich as can be and the other from the wrong side of the tracks and his family says she is beneath him. Will they be able to pull this off? Can they get through this without falling madly in love with each other? What happens when your heart over rules your head and is out to win the ultimate prize? You have to read to find out and you will not regret it at all. I loved it so much and kind of got worried since it was the first book in the series that it might end in a huge cliff hanger. Don't fret though because it does not. I am so excited to read more books in this series and I am curious about so many people in this book and can not wait to get their stories too.

5* Wicked King Stars

I was excited when I received the ARC of Wicked Rule because I love KI Lynn’s writing and storytelling. You know that you will be guaranteed a very sexy ride with some angst and drama thrown in too. I was in the perfect mood for a moody and ruthless ruler and a sassy and feisty heroine and once I started I could not stop.

The story of Atticus, (such a fantastic masculine name for him) and Ophelia (perfect name for her) was engrossing and addictive. Their journey begins with a one night stand and leads to a fake marriage in a famous/wealthy dysfunctional family. The attraction and chemistry between them was undeniably sexy but with strict boundaries set by Ophelia will their contract of marriage be upheld?

I enjoyed the dual POV’s as you got to understand their thoughts and feelings. Ophelia was such a strong heroine who was perfect for the king of the de Loughrey family. I enjoyed watching her slowly break down his walls and penetrate his cold heart.

The names the author chose for the side characters that are the de Loughrey family are so perfect.

I thoroughly enjoyed this steamy slow burn romance and can’t wait to read the next book in the Heartless Kingdom Series.

An ARC was received, all thoughts and opinions are my own

Atticus and Ophelia explosive

Wicked Rule by KI Lynn is a story that captivates you instantaneously from the beginning
"The woman beneath me burned. Hot and wet....."
and doesn’t let you go to the very end (which you'll have to ONE CLICK to find out).

This is a story of a king named Atticus, he is a hot alpha who knows what he wants and he gets it! He is newly appointed to head the family and as he was taught to; he rules his kingdom with no regrets.
Ophelia is a beautiful, loving, caring, feisty and strong woman who tends to keep to herself.. One chance encounter leads to a night of passion and then a fake marriage proposal with angst, lust, passion and roller coaster of emotions. I loved the whole story concept, the characters were fully developed and each secondary character had an intro to their lives...so I hope we will see more of de Loughrey family.

"I'm going to f*** you so hard, that won't be able to walk when I'm done."

I love all of KI Lynn's books and this one is no exception...you've got another hit on your hands! I gave it 5 stars but I'd give it a million if I could...

Wicked Rule had me hooked from the start. From the interesting and complex characters who constantly kept me on my toes to a story line that was intriguing, steamy and a little bit angsty, I did not want to put my kindle down. There was something about Atticus's character that I just really liked. He didn't give in to what his father just wanted him to do and he didn't go for what could be easy, and I liked that he felt a genuine connection with Ophelia and he did what he could to have more of that in his life. I loved that despite his needing Ophelia for his own gains, he was also looking to protect her and ensure she would be taken care of as well. I really liked Ophelia's character as well. I liked how much she wanted to protect others, namely her sisters. I really enjoyed that you could get a sense of the chemistry between Atticus and Ophelia through the pages, because it was just that palpable.

This was a most highly enjoyable read. It was well written and highly engaging. I really enjoy the author's writing style and I cannot wait for more in this series and from this author.

GOODNESS THIS BOOK IS ONE HELLUVA RIDE!

Wicked Rule is a potent and intoxicating tale of immense power and wealth, family legacy and heart-grabbing angst. Unbelievably addictive and provides plenty of sultry, toe-curling heat too.

I love KI's masterful storytelling ability to create the perfect blend of broken alpha-holes and the strong women that they crave.

Wicked Rule is so much more than a billionaire, hero-who-behaves-badly love story.

I was consumed not only by the main characters but fully invested in this complex, multi-faceted and intriguing family.

I highly recommend you read Wicked Rule and immerse yourself completely in this world!

The Rulers left me yearning for more luckily, I didn’t have to wait too long for Wicked Rule. Atticus and Ophelia's story was raw, intense, and hot as hell.

Learning about Ophelia’s childhood was sad, and I don’t blame her one bit for her flight rather than fight attitude. Atticus was all brooding, dark, and ruled his kingdom like a king.

I really enjoyed this book. I could not put it down because I loved every minute of Atticus and Ophelia together and I wanted to hurry up and know what was going to happen not only next, but how their story would end.

Very good

This book was amazing. Lots of excitement and love in it. The story starts with a one night of explosive sex and ends with a wedding. Loved how the author built up the drama and excitement throughout the book. The characters were amazing and all had a facade of not caring then suddenly became a family who cares deeply for one another. Extremely well written.
