Excellent story! Exactly what I expect from BJ Bourg. It will be sad to leave Clint and crew behind for a while but we can look forward to the day we get to go back and enjoy London Carter books in the meantime.
I loved this book. It was as good as the first 26. I truly hope this is not the last Clint Wolf book. Please have more coming. #bjbourg The characters are so well established and the suspense/mystery kept me turning the pages and reading faster. I love the interactions of the main characters. I am sorry that one had to die. Having a son who’s a detective it’s a constant back of your mind fear. This is a great series. I’ve read the London Carter series as well equally as good! @bjbourg
I'D LIKE TO KNOW WHY NO ONE THERE SEEMS TO USE ANY BUG REPELLANT, IF THE MOSQUITOES ARE SO BAD. SMH! THIS TURNED INTO A VERY COMPLEX STORY AND IT WASN'T AT ALL WHAT I THOUGHT WAS GOING ON. I STARTED OUT FEELING ONE WAY AND AS THE STORY PROGRESSED, I SLOWLY CHANGED MY MIND. THE ENDING WAS BITTERSWEET. ;D
Wow, what a riveting, intense, unputdownable and sad story for the team - loved how you included London, Dawn and their son. I know I have to wait for Clint and Susan’s next case but I am so looking forward to it 😊
This one had some twists and turns that kept me on my toes. It’s not often the Mechant Loup Police Department has to look into the murder of a celebrated officer of the law, but that’s exactly what the sheriff of Chateau Parish needs them to do when one of their own is killed and their department is too emotionally compromised to do the job.
Clint Wolf teams up with his wife Susan to investigate for the first time in several books. It a refreshing shift in character dynamics. So is the extended cast of characters. We often see people from the parish, the ME’s office, the crime lab, the prosecution… even officers from other cities. This time we get all of that as the evidence reveals one twist after another.
Even the detectives are perplexed by the weapon. There are almost too many suspects, all with the same motive, varied degrees of opportunity, and no means. Every time they think they’ve solved it, they realize the clues don’t add up.
It took me a while to figure it out. I missed an early clue hidden in plain sight, which made this one fun for me. Well, fun might be a stretch. There was something I saw coming for a few books now, and it was NOT fun. Still, the ending is more than satisfying.
Looking forward to the next even as I realize I don’t have many more to read.
I don't know that this one actually deserves 5 stars, but it is definitely one of the best ones in the series. The story was good. The pace was good, which is true of most of these books. It was a bit longer.
I was disappointed Shade left at the end of the previous book and they haven't replaced him yet.
More of a epilogue would have been nice. That is more of a listing of everything they did to right all the wrongs.
All of these books need a better editor. The first chapter starts out on 3/11. The case is solved 5 days later but is noted as 3/9, instead of 3/16.
Another exceptional book. Nail biting, spine tingling thriller. Looking for a wonderful series that will keep you turning pages, look no further. The Clint Wolf series has everything a reader wants, needs and loves about reading. BJ Bourg definitely has his finger on the pulse of what a reader loves about books. If you haven't tried reading one of his books, you are missing out on a truly wonderous adventure.
These are intriguing murder mysteries. Once you begin the series, you won’t be able to stop reading until you’ve finished them all. The author is truly a great storyteller. Once you meet Clint and Susan and their friends in Louisiana, you’ll be hooked on their stories. I’m sad the series has ended, but have begun the London Carter stories and am excited to read more.
Overall the series has been fun to read. I will look forward to the next one. But. I’m begging you… do not use the word “scowl”. At all. Ever. It has been egregiously over used throughout the series. And more important, it’s been used incorrectly. Additionally, you need a new editor or beta readers. Grammar is atrocious. And don’t write like a pompous puke. He “shat” on the carport? From “whence” he came? Come on. You ain’t Shakespeare.
The book #27 of Clint Wolf Mysteries was amazing. The story line was put together to meet up with some Friends and say goodbye to One. The story began solving a Cop murder. Going down a rabbit hole to research who did it . The suspect list is growing for good reasons. Your feeling will be tested as you read this book. Revenge in this case has no expiration date.
How will I ever get through an undetermined amount of time without Clint and the crew from Mechant Loup! This series and this author are my all time favorites. Guess their extended absence gives me time to finally read the London Carter series. Till we meet again Mr. Bourg.....
So many twists and turns! Every emotion was greatly displayed. Every book in this series was well written. The characters' emotion are described so well that they can be felt by the reader. Every book is worthy reading by any lover of mystery. So glad I found this series.
Clint and Susan are asked to investigate the murder of an off duty police officer by the county sheriff. It is unusual in that the slug that killed him was 3 ounces, making the shotgun an 8 Guage. Many suspects with some police corruption in the mix. Fantastic series
I really enjoyed this book from the beginning to the end better than any in the series so far it had just the right amount of romance action and who done it it was a really good suspenseful story
OMG. This is a great mystery. The Clint Wolf mystery books are a ten star series.. I am always happy when a new book comes out. This is one of my most favorite series. I hope it never ends. I highly recommend this book and series. Hope there's a new book soon.
BJ Bourg writes a good book. The Clint Wolf Mystery series is my favorite, but, enjoy his London Carter series, too! But Not Forfeited is a great book, but, sad to see a character go. Waiting for the next book!
This book is the 27th in the series, and as usual just continues to exceed expectations. I don’t know how BJ keeps putting out these great stories, but if you haven’t read the Clint Wolf series, you’ve got 27 books to add to your reading list.
These are ok, you can read them without much pain. Later in the series, there starts to be far too many absolutely nauseating bits of political correctness creeping in. It’s like he has his fourteen year old granddaughter as his editor !
This book was even better. Ending was a big surprise! The killer had only been mentioned once in story and not related to ending. I have gotten into habit of reading until about 2am! I just don’t want to put down the book,
I love everything about this series! The characters, the stories, the way each book can stand on its own, but all tie together so beautifully! As a true coonass, I love all the Louisiana and Cajun jargon! Exceptional!
Very different in the tracking of a bad cop which nobody would ever think was the case. Definitely a good one to follow the evidence and not get too hung up on theories. So difficult to follow all the turns in the end but logical.
This was a really good addition to the series. The mystery of whodunnit and why was very intriguing. Some things were difficult to read and there was a loss that was very heartfelt. I feel as if I know these well developed characters.
I read them all! Everyone was action packed from the start
All these books were vary exciting... I read each one from start to finish...in short order...A !little gory at times, but that's police work I guess! Looking forward to the next series..
