I had to take a break from this book and read other stuff because I really didn't like the FMC Pippin and her lack of growth. I found Pippin way too childish, naive, and virginal, and I couldn't be convinced in this book why 5 men found her so irresistible other than magical golden dragon queen bonds through their dragons. Pippin owned nothing and had no useful skills (not even in bed). Her only call to fame was bonding with the newest golden dragon queen, and Pippin's TSTL behavior with almost lost her that as well...

I felt that the smut was excessive and didn't help with the character or relationship development. The MM introduced seemed unnecessary and only served to create new relationship drama when there was already enough due to Pippin only being able to marry one person. I was also cringing inside every time I read the word "pearl."

The final battle with the big villains introduced was anti-climactic. There was all this dramatic build-up, but the evil people were taken care of in a few short pages in a similar manner . The very end took a big twist for a new villainous plot.

I'll probably finish the last book for closure, and I do like the concept of a reverse-harem dragon rider world, but there wasn't enough dragon in this book for me, and too much (stupid) people drama. Hopefully that improves in the next release.

Great story

This book is a great continuation of the story and sets up the next book. Some threads are closed and others are pending. My only gripe is that mfc is still so naive and frankly not very likeable. Everything is set up for her to prevail and she's just so bland and frankly kind of dumb. She blurts out secrets, does the wrong thing over and over and is basically bested by everyone yet she's got all these men that thinks she's somehow this awesome being? There was no growth to her, she just buries her head in the sand or just goes along and never deals with consequences of her actions. It's wrong move after wrong move yet she doesn't learn.

I absolutely love this series!

First off, I was pleasantly surprised to see the second book was released. I was waiting patiently (maybe not so patiently) for this book so I can finally know what happens next. I was really happy with the book but there were a few things that just didn’t flow right to me. This review will be mostly spoilers because I just need to vent my feelings!

First of all, we all know who the big bad is. The Evil Queen! Muwahahaha! Anyways, there has been this running theme in the entire book of how they were to defeat Queen Raina. So, main plot drive: Kill the Evil Queen! But how it went down just felt so rushed and abrupt to me. Not saying is didn’t like it, the ending just felt rushed to me and kind of made the rest of the book moot and pointless.

Another thing that didn’t work for me was the spelling and grammatical mistakes. For most of the book it was fine, perfect even! Then nearing the second half of the book, closer to the end, it just started falling off. It was almost like to me that the authour was rushing to finish in time and have it sent to editing and they were rushing to get the book out. Hey, maybe there was something I missed or it was my copy (I did e-book through KU). But it bothered me since there was one instance at the beginning of a chapter where a whole paragraph was just confusing and made no sense to me.

Another thing (all the things), was Pippin should’ve known better. She should’ve expected anything from anyone but chose to just ignore it or just forget.

Intense forehead vein throbbing

It was just things that made no sense to me and should’ve just been using common sense. Especially when Ugh! It just bothered me so much.

Either way, I still like the series and will continue because of course, dragons.

And just when I thought this was going to just be two books, I was pleasantly mistaken.

Also, Le dreamy sigh…

Overall a great continuation of the story leaving me anxious for book 3.

But it left me feeling eh at the end.

The MFC is flat and frankly irritating. She has no spine. I realize she has a past, everyone does, but it doesn’t seem to support her reasonings for what she’s doing. One second she’s strong and “acting like a Queen dragon” and next second she’s a pig herder.

I’d honestly rather it be about the men. They’re pretty great but still flat. And their relationship is so shallow. All they think about and want is sex.

Also, they point out throughout the book that no one would accept their polyamorous relationship so they have to keep it behind closed doors, but then they always react or touch each other to which no one is surprised by. So that doesn’t support the original claim.

And there seems to be some back tracking with personalities. It doesn’t make sense why in the same breath they shun her and the next call her stunning.

Lastly, the editing needed to be tighter. There were a lot of small errors that through me out of the fantasy world.

I recommend the series but it’s not mind blowing.

Dragon Fight is the stunning sequel to Sam Hall's Dragon Found. This book was glorious, I couldn't put it down.

Just when I thought Pippin was getting on her feet, growing stronger she gets a few blows that mess with her confidence. Pip is strong, she had to be but she has a lot of emotional trauma. She's been beaten down for so long that it's hard to build herself back up. Pip is complex, she's steady and confident in some situations but in others she just doesn't believe. Hopeful the guys and Glimmer (her sassy little dragon) will help Pip grow into who she's meant to be

Of course, Pip's guys were great, they're a respectful caring bunch. I loved getting to see the guys' families, I sure got a better understanding of who they are. A huge secret came out and things didn't initially go well, the guys were in the wrong but I liked how things were resolved. The connection between Pip and the guys is steadily growing, they are figuring things out and it certainly gets steamy. I love the relationship between Pip and each of the guys and that includes Draven. He was different in this book, very unexpected but I'm not mad about it. While at times he was infuriating at other times, he was bringing sex back and I was there for it.

This book had me in the zone, I couldn't wait to see how it was all gonna play out. Glimmer is getting stronger and sassier, she's no longer Pip's little dragon child but has become a partner to her and a crucial character in the story. A lot about dragon culture was revealed in this book as well as an alternate history between humans and dragons that was very interesting.

Riana's (Darven's mother aka the queen) evil knows no bounds, I have to give the skank credit she was smart. All her devious little plots lead to some major plays. I still have so many questions about Riana's past, her connection to her dragon, and the stones. Speaking of stone, Pip, the guys, and the dragons are gonna have to go on another quest looking for relics, trying to gain a better understanding of what's been happening.

The Dragon Queen series just keeps getting better. Dragon Fight's ending blew my freaking mind. Sam packed a lot in the last ten chapters. Just when I thought things were calming down, crap blows up in Pip and the guys face. There were a couple of major events that had unforeseen consequences. Things are far from settled with Pip's and the guys' enemies making life-altering moves. Here's to hoping the wait for the next book isn't too long.

I'm convinced Sam Hall is trying to torture us. THIS WAS SO GOOD.

I love Glimmer. I need my own Glimmer. Her sass and divaness is perfection, and I love the dynamic between her and Pip. Seeing them grow together is amazing.

Oh Pip. She is so incredibly strong but girl, the drama and the trauma. And boy, her growth definitely isn't done.

I love the guys. Seeing their relationships with Pip grow, despite all the roadbumps, is beautiful. And I loved Draven in this book! Great character development on his part!

I loved the world building that Sam has done here. The Dragon lore explained is so well thought out, and it definitely adds to the depth of the story.

That ending wrecked me in the best way. I can't wait for book 3.

DNF - 54%

Pippa is at her home estate with her harem. She’s now married to Brom. They decide that they need to keep the nature of their relationships secret because the current queen will see that Pippa is doing what the queen of old did in having 4 consorts. It will be seen as treasonous. In mixed company they must pretend that she is married only to Brom.

They travel to Brom’s family estate. Brom’s father is an unlikable character, but I'm not sure if the author wanted him to be or not. He is condescending and not nice towards Brom’s mother. Later you find out that it's because he's gay. That annoyed me. It's unfortunate and unfair that he couldn't marry whomever he wanted, but that's not justification for disrespecting his wife.

Glimmer the dragon is growing up. She is learning to hunt and fly. Pippa, Draven, and the harem take her out for a flying lesson. They find an old ruin where Pippa has another mysterious vision from the ancient dragon queen. Then Pippa’s horse goes berserk on the way home. It bucks her off. Does she break any bones? *Shrug* But apparently her entire body is in terrible, ungodly pain. (?) They get back to Brom’s house. Suddenly Glimmer becomes a golden dragon that apparently has the power to heal! Glimmer heals Pippa. Sometime later we learn that Draven has found a microscopic weapon that assassins put under a horse’s saddle. As the person rides, a tiny pin pokes into the horse’s skin and maybe it irritates the animal enough to toss the rider and hopefully kill them. It’s not a big shock that Pippa survives the incident. But the point is that someone is trying to kill her.

The dragon riders decide that they need to continue “training” Pippa and Glimmer. When actually they are sneaking off to have sex and possibly search for more ancient ruins. The harem and Draven take the girls to the beach. Pippa is having sex with Flynn and Glimmer nearly drowns. Pippa is sorry that it happened, but openly blames everyone but herself for the incident.

They return home and Brom’s parents are planning a party to celebrate their son’s marriage. Brom’s cousin tells Pippa that Brom was involved with Draven, which is not surprise at this point.
I stopped reading.

The 2nd book maintains all the problems contained in the first book. Assumes too much of the reader, not enough description, illogical/nonsensical plot and events, leaving me somewhat confused. Again, you really just have to go along for the ride and assume that the characters know what they’re doing. While the first book was entertaining, this one just continued to go downhill around the 20% marker.

It seems like the book does not hold true to what I think a reverse harem should be. The men have more power than the woman. During intimate scenes the men tend to talk around Pippa likes she’s not there. I don't really care for Flynn as he expects her to “service” him.

Then there’s the unforgivable incident with Glimmer. Pippa is like a negligent mother who chooses men over her child. Then when the child is physically harmed, she chooses not to take responsibility. I immediately lost respect for her.

Anand book 2 has a cliff hanger another 3am finisher. Honestly, it was a good one. I just wish the story would end, lmao. 2 books, and somehow, we haven't hit a satisfying conclusion? Seems mad tbh.

Pros
- dragons. Not only that, talking dragons. I wish we saw more of their powers. Please put more of their powers. I want the dragons.

- the sex. Lmao

-excellent use of consent. It's probably some of the *best* consensual writing I've ever seen.

- also excellent use of gender identity, especially in fashion. It affirms the characters while never diminishing who they are. Lovely. I noticed it in the first book as well. The mc is never treated with kid gloves but is adapted to once it shows other ways are better for her skillset. It was quite good to see. EQUITY NOT EQUALITY.

- the lgbtq rep was pretty realistic as well no notes.

Mid tier not pro not con just observations
- honestlyyyy a mildly satisfying villain. Was she the best villain? No. Was her ending satisfying....kind of. Idk she was evil, but other than trying to kill the mc, endlessly, she gave evil but not cruel twisted psycho you know?

- the men. GRANTED I loved them. However, this book really was about sorting dynamics, I guess? Like they all sort of fell into a role but not really and especially the last man I have so many questions and only one man out of all of them is on track with me so I'm just kind of wondering how the heck that's gonna play out.

- the emotions..girlie was going THROUGH it, but in a way that wasn't easy to follow. Like she would be heartbroken, for example, and I wasn't heartbroken with her cause I'm tryna understand how we got here.

-Cons
- the fact that it's taking so damn long to get to the end of this. There's a delay with the mcs growth, and like I'm not sure why.

- confusing storyline, it's not really confusing so much as it's just a lot?? Like there's stuff being added but no real resolutions, and I can see it almost adding to WHY we can't get to the end already cause stuff keeps getting in the way.

I love me a fantasy, and I love me some dragons and sex but damn. This one was definitely porn with a plot and not a really concrete one either. I'm not sure if I'll read the third book when it comes out. 3 stars.

Are you telling me I read this book that practically promised a battle and nothing happened?! I mean, was it entertaining? somewhat. Let’s just say the plot in the first book was great not a lot of spice but it was good to the point that I forgot it was supposed to be smutty. This book I felt like had better smut than the actual plot.

Oh my words. This was amazing and kept me at the edge of my seat the entire time I read this.

The book picks up almost right after the first book ends and it doesn’t stop. We more forward, the plot thickening and evolving and growing dark. Parts of this are violent, just like you would expect from a high fantasy novel. We are shown new parts of the learn, learn about the past of the land and the wrongdoings as well as find new allies in their quest against the villains of this story. And I think it’s great that we don’t know who is the friend and who is the foe. It’s brilliant writing when you cannot fully tell what everyone’s intentions are.

I love the dragons. How they are sentient and how they can communicate with one another is a sight to see and I adored watching Glimmer grow and be more confident in her powers. She might still be on the small side, but she is mighty. A true dragon.

The wing is still tight and all the men love Pippin. But. It’s not all sunshine and roses since this why choose comes about quite abruptly and they live in a time where they cannot be free with their love. It’s very interesting to see open jealousy in a why choose novel and I fully understand where it comes from. Pippin herself doesn’t really understand her actions can cause jealousy and worry since she has to stay in the shadows with her love and it gnaws at all of the men.

And while I know she loves all of them, not every man is equal in the story and in the pages and I found I missed out on some men in the smuttier scenes. They were there but not really and I felt… is bad for them a correct term? Like all five (and later six) were there, some got more attention than others it felt like. That wasn’t my favorite because it happened outside the smuttier scenes as well, in particular to Soren. I want more Soren!! And poor Brom, he really got handed the short end of the stick. It might seem silly to say that considering he’s the one Pippin married but you’ll understand at the end of the book why I felt like this, I promise.

There’s also the fifth man. I won’t go into detail but I’m not fully a fan of Draven right now. He’s playing his own long game and I’m not sure of his end goals. Something about him still tickles my spidey sense and I’m not sure if he is as in love as he says he is.

At around chapter 60 I started feeling nervous. I knew we couldn’t wrap everything up by the end of the book and I could feel the cliffhanger coming. Though I was thrown into a whole new loop when what I suspected would be the cliffhanger wasn’t it. That got resolved and quite well too. But it did open the way for that final twist and I’m screaming to know what happens next! Aaaaaaaaaaaa! What the omg was that? What happens next? I need to know!!!

Finally, I have to say a few words about Pippin. I love how she’s not perfect but she’s learning. She’s trying and she’s making mistakes and correcting herself. And I love how we got a glimpse into her personal past as well and how she grew up and how that affects her even now. She’s young, she’s inexperienced and she’s thrown into a what is essentially a brink of a civil war. It’s be crazy to think she could just brush it off and not see the way she grew up as a weakness. But she rose above that and it’s definitely something I really, really loved seeing ❤️

An amazing continuation to an amazing story and I can’t wait for more!!!

Pippin and her mates…

We start off where book 1, Dragon Found left off. Pippin has returned to her home estate after marrying Brom. They have been giving a few weeks for their honeymoon but there is a plot against her and Glimmer. They will face some unknown and known adversaries.
Brom, Soren, Ged, Flynn and even the prince Draven have to get on the same page and quickly.

I have loved the journey of Pippin and this book was just as good as the first. With lots of steaminess among her mates and the true feelings from Prince Draven revealed just brings their circle closer. Secrets and pasts come to play.

Plots and allies are revealed that will hopefully turn the tide. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

I just want to start by saying that I am a big fan of Sam Hall. I have and will continue to read her books because they continue to keep me hooked and interested in the fate of each character.

I have read the 3 of the Ursa Shifters series so far, the Monster Street series and just began the Wolfverse series.

However, I did DNF this book. It’s not going to put me off of Sam’s books but I couldn’t bring myself to complete it, I am aware of some of what happens in the story as I read reviews after I decided to not finish.

Here’s what I had some issues with, I really enjoyed the first book in the series and was ready to really build upon the action that was happening in the first book. But this one, seemed to drag on (no pun-intended). At one point, I saw that I was approximately 23-25% of the way into the book, 120+ pages, but wasn’t much further in understanding the battle of the Queens plot.

The spicy scenes while nice were far too long. I wish that the character backstories were more fleshed out towards the beginning of the book. I wish it also happened more in the first book so that the second book could solely focus on the budding relationship and the unfolding drama with Queen Reina.
I also didn’t like that Pippin never seemed to learn a lesson. She never seems to learn from her mistakes and maintains her naivety which after all the things she’s been through you kept hoping she’d have more wisdom.

The scene that I ended up stopping at was after Glimmer slips under the water. It just seemed almost unbelievable that as motherly as Pippin feels towards her and for all her worrying and unnecessary coddling she would ignore Glimmer’s cries for help when drowning. I understand she was deep in her fog of lust but that just didn’t seem right.

Also, I remember that after the awakening they’d had in the first book on that date with Flynn. Glimmer had told Pip that she would begin to grow at a rapid rate and I found myself confused when they (mostly Draven) kept discussing that she was still too small for a Queen Dragon. Speaking of Draven, after reading the epilogue in his perspective at the end of book 1, I thought that he’d have more of a positive switch towards Pippa and the Wing when he finally did get to join them (because it seemed that he and Darkspire were interested in being with them rather than his mother).

Overall, this book just wasn’t holding my attention as well as many of Sam’s other books would have. I may eventually try to give it another go but as of right now I’m happy to read some of her other series’ because she is an extremely talented author and there’s been plenty of stories that I couldn’t put down.

The amount of sex in this book was nauseating.

Do you know how hard it is to read the name pippin in sex scenes? PIPPIN? That’s the name of a small dog.

Pippin is so dumb. Two times in this book she accepts food from people who she knows wish her harm. The first time she’s poisoned (obviously) and the second time she’s protected from it by a ring (BUT SHE WAS GONNA EAT IT???) literally from the woman her dragon was terrified of previously??

Not to mention how stupid she is for not thinking to protect her dragons food? And another time she ignores and subsequently endangers her dragon cos she’s consumed by lust (when is she not honestly, she’s dangerously horny)

The only thing that kept me going was 1.) dragons and 2.) draven

I low-key find a lot of the other male love interests interchangeable apart from their class/age differing.. they’re kinda all the same.

Another baffling gripe, she wears a wig exactly once in this series and it’s a focal point that she has short hair… why do the covers have a woman w long hair?

The ending felt a bit rushed. I know it’s the second book of the series but for the queen to be dealt with like that in a matter of pages… all this anticipation for what? I really didn’t expect her to be killed off in this book in such a lackluster way. It just felt like a first draft.

OK, okay, I probably shouldn’t be writing a big review because obviously I HAVE to study… damn, for someone who loves to read and write long reviews, my life choice of becoming a doctor is… interesting. And I absolutely have to get a hospital shift this week, because being an adult sucks and I have to work.

Still, I spent one of my precious Audible credits on this book — and honestly? Worth it. Because now? NOW I WANT ANSWERS. And more of Flynn’s dirty mouth, Ged’s cockiness, Soren’s daddy vibes, Brom’s sweetness, and my DRAVEN!!!! I want more of him!!! Please!!! Seriously, I like the bastard, and he must be suffering so damn much. He couldn’t be with the others during the mating, he’s been protecting her since the beginning while acting like an asshole. What’s he going to do in Wild Dragon’s Land??? I can’t wait to see more of the world building and, obviously, more DRAVEN. Yeah, he’s my new obsession.

So… our innocent Pippen is now a nymphomaniac, hahahaha. Girl, I don’t blame you… I could be too. Flynn is incorrigible. His dirty mouth??? Holy hell. She married Brom — the one she knows the least about, because he’s always so stern and polite with her. Damn. Glimmer is getting more and more independent, and Pippen is starting to suffer what every mother goes through when their children grow up.

It sucks, guys. I still remember when my son started grazing alone with his best friend (yeah, my son was a sheep — may he walk with the Goddess now — and his best friend was a dog). Before that I always had to be near him so he could eat. It’s such a weird feeling, seeing your baby grow and need you less.

Why the fuck is Pippen nervous about her first night as Brom’s wife??? Girl, he was there when all four of them fucked you like animals. He literally came all over you. So, for gods’ sake!!

Finally, my Draven made an appearance!!! Love him. And the moment? He saw Flynn absolutely fucking Pippen, and she didn’t even stop when she saw Draven watching…

Woah, I’m shocked Brom’s family isn’t total assholes. Honestly, refreshing. But I smell something fishy in Brom’s mother’s reactions. I suspect her husband, Brom’s father, has an affair with that unnamed guy… and maybe Brom had something going on with him too? Or with Draven? Or Draven’s brother??? I swear we’re going to get some MMFMMM action, babies!!!

I HATE that everyone is against Draven. Seriously, WHY don’t they understand him??? Gods, give me patience. And Glimmer… gods, she’s a teenager now. Damn if she isn’t challenging Pippen on every little thing. Yeah, absolutely, Brom and Draven have something between them. Maybe that’s why Brom never really fucked Pippen? Interesting. She’s pushing for it, and he wants to, but he looks totally uncomfortable.

Woah. Now I’m the one uncomfortable. Glimmer is… different. It bothers me deeply. Maybe because I’ve NEVER read a book like this before. The world building is so unique. Dragons here aren’t like in any other story. I’ve read dozens about dragons bonding with humans, but never like this. These dragons have bonds with their riders, they’re loyal, but Glimmer feels like her own separate character. The more she grows, the worse she gets. OK, she’s a dragon queen, but still… it feels like she’s pushing Pippen away. I’m not seeing the camaraderie I expected.

And do you know what I HATE most? Draven feels unwelcome. And Pippen acts bitchy toward him about his relationship with Brom, like she’s pissing over Brom to mark her territory. Bitch move. Thank the gods for Darkspire — the most loyal dragon ever. Even though he has feelings for Glimmer, he never goes against Draven. THAT is what a dragon-rider bond should be. I hate how the dragons just forget their bonded humans for a female dragon. Seriously, it pisses me off.

For fuck’s sake, I have a stallion I raised since he was three years old. Even when he’s with his mares, if I call, he comes. Why? Because we have a bond. We can’t even communicate like riders and dragons, but the loyalty is there.

I’m not saying dragons shouldn’t have their own personalities. I read a book once where a girl bonded with the dragon king — old, wise, had a mate and daughter — but he never gave the same vibe Glimmer does. He and his rider were still one being. But Glimmer? She acts like a spoiled child. I hope it improves when she’s fully grown, but I have a bad feeling it won’t.

Now, Draven and Pippen. Mark my words — they’ll be King and Queen. He’s commanding, ruthless, protective, a brilliant strategist — an absolute alpha. The only person who can maybe control him is Pippen, and only sometimes, because she’s still insecure as hell. Draven’s arrogance and schemes make sense when you know his background. That’s why he’s my favorite character. Compared to him, the others fall short. He’s the only one with a brain, thinking with his head and not his dick. Thank the gods. The others? They piss me off sometimes. Being overprotective is hot at first, but it gets old real fast.

I do love when Pippen orders the others and they obey, but Draven? They’re equals. When planning a mission, not even Brom gets to interfere.

HOLY SWEET BABY ASMODEUS… I KNEW IT!!! Pippen and Draven together!!! That was a dominance battle, violent, primal, raw. And the sex scene??? Easily the best one yet. No one was really “on top.” They both claimed each other. Honestly, it looked like a mating frenzy.

Finally, Glimmer showed that her bond with Pippen is stronger than anything else!!! This Marcus guy is… interesting. Pirate vibes, cunning criminal style — I’m very curious.

HOLY FUCK!!! I didn’t see that coming!!! Ladies and gentlemen, THAT is what I call a fucking plot twist.

But why won’t Pippen marry Draven? The bitch married Brom!!! Aaaaaargh why are they NEVER on Draven’s side??? No one sacrifices for him. All he has is Darkspire. He always has to steal little moments. Pippen is selfish as fuck. He’s learning to share her with the others, but the truth is he’s too dominant, and he was raised differently. Damn it.

Well… I NEED THE NEXT BOOK!!! And I damn well hope Pippen starts treating my Draven better

Rating- 3 good but with issues
Heat- 3.5

I had to dock an entire star because of how the main conflict was resolved. It committed two of my pet peeves-
1) it was far too sudden and quick. For 2 books, we have geared up for a war. The entire kingdom seemed to be splitting along the lines of Harlston and literally everyone else, whether Pippin and her men wanted it to or not. All while Pippin and her riders strategized and prepared to take on the queen. All for the entire issue to be resolved in a split second when the queen’s dragon ate her.
2) we are taken out of the action and don’t see the aftermath. When Pippin passes out immediately after the climax, our view goes with her. We don’t see anything that occurred. How did people react to such a shocking moment? We will never know.

We are left in a slight cliffhanger setting up the events of the next book as we see Draven’s rule is not guaranteed.

No no no! I hate that I loved this book so much, because now I have to wait for more 😭

Dragon fight is the second book in the dragon queen series, this book had much more relationship development than the first. Some I didn't agree with. I'm a petty bitch so would I have accepted Draven after all his crap? Probably not.

True to sams writing the world building in this series is amazing and the details so well thought out. The character development is taken to another level in this book and everyone has found their place including pip and her dragon glimmer, but we are far from the drama being done.

Couldn't get any better

I'm finishing reading this in the middle of the night, because I just couldn't put it down! The best homage to Pern I've ever read, but, with its own unique storyline and characters, solid worldbuilding, excellent writing and editing, and all the steam you need.

Glimmer is going to be so fun to read about in the final book.. I cannot get enough of these dragons and the plot 😮‍💨 kept me seated the whole time! Soren is definitely my favorite 🤭

Dragon Fight
I was given an advanced reader copy for an honest review.

I decided to re read the first book since it’s been awhile and I wanted to have fresh eyes of understanding on what was going on. I’m glad I did. So much happened in the first book that I would have been lost if I just read the 2nd one when it came out.

The fmc is thrown into situations that near strangers were trying to assassinate her and Glimmer. Family friends and complete strangers. No one can be trusted outside her 4 guys, possibly the 5th one. Both Glimmer and the fmc manage to pull through with the help of the Wing in every attempt.
I’m glad we got to read more of the history of dragons and humans coming together. The true story. I didn’t even realize that there was holes when it was originally told in the first book. I think there could be a whole series on the original Dragons and their bond mates. The story just sucked you in as a reader.

There are certain sections of the book where they speak in hush hush tones, stopping each other from speaking in fear of others hearing them and reporting to the queen. I think it was assumed the reader would know what they were thinking but I just felt lost. It did explain later in the book but I felt disconnected from the story in those chapters.

There was a ton of chapters where it was all passion with hands and fingers. There was some MM action at the end. Which was different from the first book and was unexpected. I understood how the fmc felt when it was revealed early on about the history of her guys. Confused and worried about forcing someone’s hand. I loved that about the fmc though. She always cared about how others and their feelings. I did feel bad for Broms moms situation. It was explained but there was no real happy ending for his parents. Well his mother specifically.

I didn’t expect that ending. I don’t think anyone would. It was right out of left feild and not at all planned. Despite how short it was, I loved how surprised I was. Everyone seems to forget, we’re dealing with Dragons here!

I would have rated this a strong 4.5 stars, due to the stunted conversations, how the entire 2 books led up to the climax that is read in one chapter. There was a ton of buildup, and I feel the peak of the story could have been drawn out longer. I loved reading about the fmc, finally finding her backbone. She was very wishy washy a lot of the time even though others saw her spine of steel determination. I’m glad I got the chance to read this book. Sam is an incredible story teller.

Incest, Man on Man, not a reverse harem, DNF

Incest warnings would be nice as well as M/M warnings. So Bran and Draven are cousins and the first book tells you when they were young Draven was forced to live at Bram’s estate. It doesn’t give an age that I remember, but refers to them as children and such, and that they were young when they left the estate to be riders. He took an important cloak and ruined it by pretending to be a king, telling you they were young. Then your told these children who are cousins had a threesome relationship with Draven being the center. And prior to that the book spends time on the relationship of Bram’s father and how he is gay and only did his duty by knocking up Bram’s mom. And how plenty of man on man relationships exist and yada yada. Obviously preparing you for where this book is leading. If it would have mentioned this in the book details I wouldn’t have even bothered wasting my time.

Not a reverse harem. When 2 men are already involved it’s a totally different story than what the book gives you as a description. If that’s what you like that’s fine, but there is literally a genre for LGBT, and that’s not what I started reading this book for. I’m really starting to think these authors purposely leave it out to make money off you downloading the book.

Not impressed, not my thing, wouldn’t recommend!

To restore the balance, the queen must rise.

This installment of Sam Hall's Dragon Queen was brutal…in the most amazing ways! Lots of action. Court intrigues. Twists and turns. It’s all in here.

Pip's relationship with her men (and Draven!) deepens, and we get a few surprises in that area. We also get to see her work on developing her confidence and further evolve. I really love having FMCs that are sassy and kick a$$, and Pip is different than those. I'm really looking forward to the final book to see her growth!

Glimmer on the other hand, is a total baddie! She is legit my favorite 🤩 and my spirit animal. She rocks Queen vibes like no other. She's confident, and also has her own growth arc. I love that we find out more about her and who she'll become. I can't say more without spoilers.

In this book, we get to venture to the lands of the wild dragons - mentioned at the end of book 1 - and learn more about the War of the Two Queens. I know I’m going to have to go back and reread that before book 3!

As always, please read the author’s trigger warnings. There's one related to animals, and I was glad I knew that going into it.

**I received an ARC of this book, and this is my honest review**
