Give the young person in your life the mindset they need to thrive.
Kids today are presented with new challenges all the time. They face an uncertain future and are under constant pressure to thrive in an overwhelming and fast-paced world.
You vs the The Bear Grylls Guide to Never Giving Up retells Bear Grylls’ most extreme adventures in a kid-friendly way. He shares the life lessons he’s learned along the way, and how the skills needed to survive in the wild can be used in everyday life. From finding confidence to bouncing back from failure, Bear gives children the tools they need to survive and thrive in their own lives.
Bear Grylls has become known around the world as one of the most recognized faces of survival and outdoor adventure. His journey to this acclaim started in the UK on the Isle of Wight, where his late father taught him to climb and sail. Trained from a young age in martial arts, Bear went on to spend three years as a soldier in the British Special Forces, serving with 21 SAS. It was here that he perfected many of the skills that his fans all over the world enjoy watching him pit against mother-nature. Despite a free-fall parachuting accident in Africa, where he broke his back in three places, and after enduring months in military rehabilitation, Bear went on to become one of the youngest ever climbers to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Bear went on to star in Discovery Channel's Emmy nominated Man Vs Wild and Born Survivor TV series, which has become one of the most watched shows on the planet. Off screen, Bear has lead record-breaking expeditions, from Antarctica to the Arctic, which in turn have raised over £2.5million for children around the world. In recognition of his expertise and service, Bear was appointed as the youngest ever Chief Scout to 28 million Scouts worldwide, awarded an honorary commission as a Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy, and has authored 10 books, including To My Sons.
Every human should read this. A wonderful motivation book that young people (and old) should experience. Not enough of these types of books for young folks these days. I hope he writes more in the near future.
This book can be read in a day. It’s a motivating, self help book for kids with some of Bear’s cool experiences and challenges in it to emphasize his points. Has big bold letters, drawings, and quotes that take up a whole page so it’s very manageable for youngins. I had no idea it was so elementary when I read it but still enjoyed it. His suggestions for how to live a happy and fulfilled life apply to everyone. We should all do our best, never give up, have an attitude of gratitude and be positive and kind.
Bear Grylls provides advice for children regarding how to handle life's challenges. Grylls uses artwork, large font, and a diverse page layout to keep children engaged. Recommend.
This is a nice, easy, inspirational book, aimed at young readers. It's full of inspirational stories about never giving up. It'd be a great book for children or young adults, but equally I'm an adult and enjoyed reading this, as it's a quick and easy read.
We all know that children today have to deal with a lot of pressures from many different directions. They have challenges ahead of them too and as adults we can sometimes easily forget we were in their position once too, with a world of challenge ahead and not too many ideas as to how we were going to cope with it. Today there is help for young people, often in the form of a book which gives them a good excuse to have less screen time, to have some time to chill and read, discover, enjoy. Bear Grylls is Chief Scout, he is also a great author putting pen to paper for books that will help to guide young people into new mindsets. You Vs the World published by DK is no exception.
This is a guide to never giving up and it uses Bear’s most extreme adventures out in the wild, retelling them in a way which is both child-friendly and also incredibly exciting. This guide is a must-have for any young person interested in adventure but also facing challenges in the world ahead of them. Bear was one of the youngest people to climb Mount Everest, successfully, he has had adventures in the wild that have required him to eat raw snakes (yes, I can see your eugh’s!) and he most certainly knows how to survive in the face of extreme situations. The book is designed to capture the eye of the reader, the facts are punchy and fun, accessible and applicable.
