Sarah's Cowboys

Rate this book
Sarah Mitchell has arrived at Misty River Ranch where she can’t wait to experience the life of a Montana rancher. As a seasoned solo traveller, she’s accustomed to moving from place-to-place and never setting down any roots.

What she doesn’t count on is falling for the cowboys who reside at the property, and for their feelings to be reciprocated.

When mustering turns to intimate scenes sweeter than s’mores, Sarah no longer craves the knight in shiny armor every fairytale presents. She wants seven pairs of boots under her bed, and sexy cowboys in blue jeans and dusty hats.

She’s close to having her wish, but when tragedy strikes, will Sarah be forced to decide where she belongs in the world or will her cowboys teach her home isn’t where you lay your hat?

Sarah’s Cowboys is a standalone why-choose, reverse harem romance by bestselling author Kiera Jayne. It has adults scenes, and recommended to those over the age of eighteen.

The sweetest cowboy RH

This book was somehow incredibly detailed and yet still not long enough. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to throw my phone (looking at you, Saggar), I cackled at the unexpected use of Papa Bear and continued to giggle every time it was used thereafter. The love stories are sweet, the backstories heartbreaking, and I am SO glad I bought this book.

Not going to rate this because I DNF'd around 1/3 of the way through.

Up until I realized this book had a dealbreaker for me, it was okay-ish. I kept putting it down and coming back to it because I figured as the story progressed, it could be something I'd really like.
I'm a sucker for rancher/cowboy MMCs...

However, I kept losing interest. I think this book would have been great with dual POV especially considering the number of characters involved in the story. There's our fmc, Sarah. Then there are the guys whose name elude me at the moment but I know in total there are at least six of them.

One thing I found annoying as I read was how often the fmc referenced her travels. It was talked about often. Also, she came off as a bit of a pick-me and that got annoying.

Still, I would have pushed through just to see what all happens in the story. However, I got to a point where I realized that one of the members of her harem will also be the father/uncle of the other members of her harem and... just... ew.

I can't. That's too weird for me. I can't suspend reality far enough that I'd be comfortable reading about a father and a son making the whoopee with the same woman.

So, yeah. No thank you.
However, if thats something that doesn't bother you... you'll probably like this book.

Good read!

The story was beautiful and well written. The characters were wonderful and had a lot of depth to them. The spicy scenes were okay, but I expected more out of them. I'd definitely recommend the story.

Sweet and sexy

This was exactly the sweet palate cleanser I needed after reading so much of the dark and bully out there lately. Full of cinnamon roll cowboys it is a good story and made me want to read more from the author. Loved it.

𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥, 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐭, 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐥, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲

While I admire a low tension and more chill WC story (sometimes you need a break from the darker and high tension stuff), I ended up giving only 3⭐️ for mainly 3 reasons.

#𝟭.) 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗟𝘀' 𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗺

I think the biggest issue for me was the father/uncle of the younger MLs joining the harem.

It's just awkward knowing that 3 of the 6 MLs are going to be sharing their future wife with their dad. I normally expect this trope in darker WC stories and not the sweeter and more modern ones, so I was kind of off put by it, honestly.

Additionally, it was difficult to find out that the dad lost his wife through a tragic accident. I don't mind the concept of second chances and I know having a deceased past lover doesn't negate love for the new lover. But I'm really big on the idea of "one true love", and it broke my heart when he was crying when he talked about his deceased wife.

Knowing how much his wife meant to him and still means to him made his relationship with his sons' love interest (the FL) even more hard to digest.

#𝟮.) 𝗦𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗮𝗿'𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗟

Second biggest reason that made the story a little hard to enjoy was the attitude of one of the MLs (I'm looking at you Saggar).

His attitude was awful and he only redeemed himself near the end of the series (literally 3 chapters until the end). I get that he had his issues, with the death of his mother and his gf leaving him not helping. But they can't, and shouldn't be used as crutches to justify his terrible attitude.

#𝟑.) 𝐎𝐖

The last issue I wasn't so fond of but wasn't too big of a deal, was the mention of ow. Specifically, the one gf they (the MLs except the dad) all dated last.

Ow drama is common in WC novels and isn't anything new to me, but I think it bothered me here because it was admitted that it was a serious relationship before it ended. I'm used to ow relationships in this genre being more minimal or non serious (i.e. just sex with no feelings), so I didn't know how to feel here.

Overall, I recommend reading this if anyone wants a break from the crazy side of rh/wc and if you're okay with sons and a father sharing a lover.

But, if you want something that's packed with adventure, tension, or crazy stuff happening this one might bore you a bit.
