Book 11 I love Pilot, poor baby has been shifted about a bit but hopefully he can live a happy and settled life now. He was a real hero in this one. What convoluted lies and stories these characters all made up, it certainly had Susie and Mary worried and on edge. I'm starting to think Dune House is doomed and fated to have bad visitors forever, maybe we need a murder in town or at the othe motel that the ladies can help solve without being in the front line. Plenty of twists that kept it gripping and me turning the pages. Read as part of the second big box set. Book 12 Well whoever knew bird-watching could be such a dangerous hobby. Twists and turns, suspects galore in another exciting and wonderful adventure with Dune House again at centre front of it all. Book 13 Omg this was a bit scary in places, so much for the two being careful. Action packed rollercoaster of tension and suspense, a chase fraught with danger to catch a killer. I do think maybe the ladies actually need to let the guys know where they are going, coz if I was them I'd be extremely angry at the risks they took in this one. Poor Pilot keeps getting left on his own as well which isn't fair. At least this crime was a bit away from the house. Great characters and fabulous plot. Book 14 How can such a beautiful place be such a hive for murder? Lots of suspects, exciting suspense and our clue busting duo are soon on the case. Close shaves for them both at the climatic end to this one. Jason is run ragged even before the murder, stretched thin he does his best to stay on top of it all but it's Susie and Mary who crack the case. Great read. Book 15 I just knew who did it, I solved this one straight away, shame I couldn't have told them. These reclusive guests really cause so much trouble in one way or another, I think the ladies need a few rules about vacated the rooms at least once a day for cleaning and replenishing towels and stuff, might solve a few issues. Poor Pilot as well at the end, he must have been frantic. Perfectly intriguing and mysterious story. Book 16 What a tangled web of lies and deceit, such a twisted plot full of characters who were definitely hiding things of some sort or another. Well written as always, I was enthusiastically reading so fast at some points I had to go back and re-read a few bits. As usual Mary and Susie end up right in the thick of it all and in danger. Poor Jason, I'm surprised he has any hair left with these two butting in on his investigations. I'm exhausted with the ending of this one, almost feel like I climbed the hill with them. Exciting stuff. Book 17 The idea of going into an old abandoned mine is the kind of stuff to give me nightmares, I can't believe Suzie or Mary went into one. Creepy, scary and traumatizing adventure, I'm so glad both Paul and Wes played a bit of a part in solving this one. At least they kept the ladies reasonably safe, well apart from dynamite. A years old mystery is solved, all culprits are dealt with and a nice comforting bowl of homemade soup to settle everyone's nerves. Fascinating plot, more fabulous characters and gold. The author writes intricate and twisted stories with lots of action and adventure. Book 18 Not my favourite of the series. It's still a good read and has its intense moments but I didn't feel the impact with this one, I'm not sure why. Lara just came across as not having any real intelligence or even caring much about her son's or Gary who were really the people that had her back. The boys weren't keen on Gary, yet he cared about them enough to try and protect them. It's twisted definitely and lots of suspects. I felt bad for Paul and Wes since both got sidelined by the ladies, in fact poor Paul was left to deal with fixing their window without any help, the relationships really don't seem to be much more than friendship with the odd kiss or meal out. Even when Paul stayed overnight he slept on the couch. I don't know, it just didn't work or feel very believable this time. Enjoyed but didn't get excited. Book 19 Phew, oh boy am I glad I don't do spa days, they are dangerous! Twisted with red herrings and false leads. The ladies had a new side-kick for this one, so with three of them going off in different directions at times it did get a bit confusing. What gets me is Wes is based next town over, he is busy investigating but somehow a call or text and he is there in a matter of minutes, how? He was at the house at least three times during the last day. As for Suzie and Paul, hopefully she sorts out what she wants and doesn't lose him. Exciting and action packed story. Book 20 A yacht race is front and centre of this one, competitors and judges at logger heads and one gets caught up in a net. Twisted with so many suspects who could have dun-it. I felt for Paul in this because he got pushed to the side and ignored at times, not cool Suzie, he does on you so treat him better. It was nice that this time around the mystery is actually solved by Jason, after all its his job. Pilot was a rascal but cute with it. Well written and entertaining plot with plenty of action and excitement, gripping climax. Read as part of the second big box set.
This box set is about 2 interfering women in their 50s who seem to think they know better than the police how to solve murders but generally wind up getting theirselves in trouble instead. The setting is a coastal town and the 2 women own a bed and breakfast business which provides ample opportunities to get involved, not to mention the fact that Suzie is the cousin to the town detective.
Good series of books with great mysteries. It is al most hard to believe that Suzie and Mary are involved in so many murders, but the endings are always a surprise.
I enjoyed all these books so much. Cindy Bell writes the best cozy mysteries. I always look forward to seeing how life is going for her main characters with each new book.
I loved this series of books! I could get right into the thick of the stories. It was almost as if I could smell the saltiness of the water! I recommend it to anyone that likes mysteries.
I would not recommend this series to anyone. The main characters are pushy, annoying, rude, and amazingly immature. They act like they are five instead of over fifty.
These ten mysteries were entertaining and fun to read. the cast of characters is interesting and kept the stories moving along. The setting is idyllic.
