My name is Lotti. In honor of avoiding spoilers, I’m not going to tell you my secret. Well, at least not yet. But what I will tell you is that I started practicing rhythmic gymnastics, a sport that requires a snakelike level of flexibility. Sounds awesome, right? If only I didn’t have this secret. . . . Seriously, as if middle school wasn’t trouble enough already. Confronted with ridicule, obstacles, and setbacks, I learned there are just two options at each crossroad: surrender or keep on fighting. And it is up to us to decide which path we take.
Based on true events: a powerful story about perseverance, resilience, and determination.

Lotti is a beautiful and strong soul who has to endure the ridicule and contempt of her classmates for something that she could not have controlled: due to a problem during her pregnancy, her left leg atrophied and if it weren't for the fact that her parents never found out given up, Lotti would be the invalid the doctors had prophesied. Instead, and thanks to the love and support that she has always received from her family and friends, she achieved what is impossible for many of us who are born "normal": succeed in rhythmic gymnastics. Lotti and the Impossible Dream is a testament to what the human spirit can achieve and what can be achieved when you have faith in yourself. In addition to being a story full of life lessons, the book is written in an agile and very attractive way, it has a gorgeous cover and the illustrations are excellent, not to mention that all those little dragons are so, so adorable! Lotti and the Impossible Dream should be required reading in schools. I thank the author and Goodreads for the opportunity to read this book. The opinion I have expressed above is based solely on what I think and feel about this book.
I have read Lotti and the impossible dream by Charly Froh. I think this book has a very good story, not only because all the strong relationships of the characters in the book, but also because Lotti (the main character in the book) has to struggle to reach her dream.
This book shows that you can’t reach all of your goals if you don’t fight for them. Like when Lotti started practicing rhythmic gymnastics and she had to practice her strength in both legs, she had to train her left leg (she couldn’t bend her left leg all the way) to do stuff that not even all people with two fully functional legs can do.
I thought this was a brilliant book with a strong story. It’s actually based on a true story. I’m gonna give this book five out of five stars. - Penny 11 yrs old
Written for middle-schoolers, it's a body positive message with a heavy dose of perseverance. Because of complications in utero, Lotti was born needing multiple surgeries to correct issues with her leg, leaving her with vivid scars she would rather not show. She also has to contend with the leg's limited movement, leaving her feeling very vulnerable, especially among her fellow middle school P.E. classmates. Inspired by rhythmic gymnastics demonstration in class, Lotti decides to pursue this challenge as her dream. Very positive message.
Thank you to the publisher and a win for a giveaway. This is a young adult book so easy to read through. I usually enjoy reading stories based on real life and this book did not disappoint. It's a great book focusing on middle schoolers surviving in school; friends, bullies and fitting in as well as being different and preserving in order to achieve your dreams.
4.5/5 stars! This is a young adult/middle-grade book about perseverance that I found to be a simple but good read. I think this is a book that should be in middle-school libraries and I believe that that audience would really enjoy it. The book has a great message and would resonate with a very specific group of readers.
This was a fun, inspiring story based on actual events. It was a joy reading of Lotti's growth, courage, spunk, and grit. I did not like the way some adults were portrayed, and the book felt a little too long, but appreciated all Lotti overcame. I was glad when she learned to stop lying. The illustrations of dragons at the begging of each chapter were probably my favorite 3.8/5
