Justin Micah has been my world for the last six years. He’s the man I love, the only person I want, and my number one priority. I’ve never been able to tell him no, but when he proposes we bring another man into our marriage, I don’t know what to say. I trust Micah with all things, so when he tells me he thinks Keith would be good for us, I find a way to trust him with that too.
Keith Even though I’ve left the past behind me, I don’t think I deserve men like Justin and Micah. Between Micah’s kind-hearted acceptance of me and Justin’s stoic composure and guiding hand, the two of them have opened my eyes to a world I didn’t know existed. For a fleeting moment, the future I’ve always wanted is within my grasp.
Micah Justin is the best man I’ve met and opening things up to include Keith won’t change that. Through the years we’ve been together, I’ve always been able to trust Justin would put me first, so when everything we’ve built is on the line, I have to believe he’ll still be there. Neither of us expected Keith, and neither of us expected the hell that came with him, but I hope, in the end, they’ll both agree our love is worth fighting for.
With over two dozen published romances to her name, Kate Hawthorne has built a recognizable brand around telling emotional stories that pack a figurative (and sometimes literal) punch.
Existing on a steady diet of wine and coffee, Kate spends her days dreaming up angsty stories full of heat, kink, and heart. Kate now lives in Louisville, where she writes romance, reads romance, and hides from the humidity.
We again meet the characters in this story that have appeared in the first two books... Worth the Risk and Worth the Wait, and like those two books, this one is beautiful, heartbreaking, and full of love and hope...and what most folks don't get...a second chance to do it right. Keith gets his second chance at life and love and at just being himself. Micah and Justin get their second chance at showing Keith just how good they all are together. The three of them get a second chance at being "everything" for each other. The love and life these three men end up with was totally "worth the fight" they had to go through in order to end up happy together. Overall...it was a wonderful book...part of an wonder 4 book series, so one more to go,
So it must have been me ... I guess after coming off a brilliant series in a similar genre, this just didn’t cut it, or suck me in. Justin was the Dom who showed moments of strength but then he broke his own rules or caved in way to quickly for someone so dominant. Micah was sweet, but messy and Keith ! Oh my - what an up & down disaster... do I stay, do I go, do I hide to protect ? Clearly I didn’t connect with these guys but I know many readers gave 5 stars. Perhaps the timing was wrong ?

Worth the Fight is the third book in Kate Hawthorne’s Giving Consent series. The books all revolve around a group of friends and the BDSM club, Rapture. The style of the series is interesting in that the books overlap each other somewhat in timeline. So we were introduced to these guys in earlier books, and the initial part of their relationship with Keith before he disappears happens in another story. That said, this book actually stands alone pretty well, as the backstory is explained and the guys are pretty self contained in this book. But if you want the full story of both the relationship, as well as to get to know the other characters who appear here, you may want to start at the beginning of the series.
This story explores some really interesting relationship dynamics and I think Hawthorne handles it quite well. We have an established couple who are incredibly happy and satisfied together, but who are now contemplating adding a third. Justin and Micah have to figure out how to make it work without upsetting the balance of their own partnership, particularly as early on Micah is definitely more emotionally connected to Keith than Justin seems to be. Overlaying that is the Dom/sub dynamic and figuring out how the three of them fit in that regard. And of course, they are dealing with the complications from Keith’s past and the way that continues to affect them all. Hawthorne does a nice job showing how adding Keith into the relationship is not taking anything away from Justin and Micah, nor it is due to them lacking anything, but rather how it adds to their connection. At times it was a little hard to see them all on equal footing as Justin and Keith don’t seem as connected as Micah and Keith, but I like how Hawthorne really explores that and pulls it all together nicely.
A really good look at what it takes to balance a closed poly relationship and marriage. It's easy to feel the emotion Kate's characters are feeling, early insecurity, anxiety, loss, fear, bonding. Not many authors have a gift for really making you feel the emotions of their characters.
One of the best M/M/M books I've read. Honestly, I normally don't go for m/m/m they feel unbalanced, someone is left out -- which it does feel like initially here, but hold out -- or it feels like the third person is just an additional sexual accessory instead of part of a relationship.
The third installation steps back into some of the heavier kink book two eased around: Flogging, Caging with Hook, Edging, Denial, Overstimulation, Drygasm, Spanking, Caning, Spend Marking/Play/Sharing, Service, Dom/Vers/Sub, Exhibitionism, possibly a few things I'm missing.
I don't even know how to start with this book. Because I do not give spoilers I have to say that if you've read Worth The Wait, then you know what is coming pretty early on in the book. That incident had me in tears and those tears continued until about 60% of the way through the book. Not all of them were sad tears, some were happy, some were relieved, but there were tears. I can say that I probably cried enough to fill up a lake.
Justin, Micah, and Keith have been through it. The past two books have teased about them, but it isn't until we get to read their book that we understand just how deep their relationship is. Getting to see them build something after all the hurt is beautiful. If only it were easy.
I'll be honest, I was prepared to not like Justin. Not because I thought he was a bad guy or anything, because Kate Hawthrone doesn't write those types of characters, but the way he acted in both of the first two books, the way he acts for some of this book, it hurt. I understand it. The more I got to know him the clearer he became, but I expected it to be hard to love him. Justin is demanding, he's gruff, he's a Daddy who's not a Daddy. He's also protective of those he loves. So it's understandable that after the first attempt to build something with Keith he would want to protect himself and his husband. When you put it that way it's understandable. He's the Dom, he's the protector, it's his weight to carry when both his and Micah's hearts are broken. Because of that, because I saw just what type of person he is, I fell in love. It took time, but he's probably my favorite after Keith.
Micah is sweet. His heart is big and I love how much he loved both his men. Micah pushed, himself, Justin, and Keith. Not into anything neither of them wanted, but he helped push them into realizing what was there. My heart went out to him because all he wanted was to love and be loved by his men. He wanted to please, he wanted to submit, but he didn't want to do it alone. It was beautiful and heartbreaking and it was everything.
Keith, oh poor Keith. The Evil Word Magician lived up to her name when she was writing Keith. The things she put him through hurt my heart so much. I wanted to love him, I wanted to hug him, I wanted to give him everything he ever needed to never feel alone, scared, and unloved ever again. I cried so much for him. I hurt for him. I loved for him. He deserved so much and I am so glad that he finally got it in Micah and Justin. Even when he was learning the rules, being punished, learning about himself, it was perfect. His self-confidence grew by being with Micah and Justin, he learned what love really was, he learned how to take back his life and it was a beautiful thing to read. Even though Kate is mean, she knows how to develop her characters.
This book is a beautiful book full of emotion. Full of characters who evolve from the first page to the last. It has some turns I did not see coming but make perfect sense in the end. Kate Hawthrone wrote three characters who need the love and the strength of each other. Justin might be the one in charge, Micah and Keith may be putting their love and trust in his capable hands, but they show just how equal they are. It's one of the things I love about Kate's books. She shows how these types of relationships should work. She writes characters that are more than just Doms and subs. She writes characters who break, who have been broken, who are loved and love. She shows their vulnerability, she shows their strength. It's a beautiful thing to see. Kate Hawthrone may be an Evil Word Magician, but she's also an amazing author.
I knew something was going to happen. I've read enough books to know that things get worse before they get better. I just never expected what happened. It broke me. I went from crying my eyes out to being all loved up because things were perfect, to broken into a million tiny pieces. Knowing something is going to happen and having something happen are two very different things.
It's like Kate has something against the number three. I haven't cried straight through a book since Love Comes After, which is both the third book in the Lonely Hearts series and a menage. Worth The Fight is the third book in the Giving Consent series and a menage. So the conspiracy theory side of my brain is wondering just what the Evil Word Magician has against the number three. I'm going to be cautious from now on if she writes both another series and another menage. I'll have tissues on standby and maybe some alcohol.
To be honest, I don't know what else to say. This book is beautiful, it's heartbreaking, it's full of love and hope and second chances. Keith gets a second chance at life, at love, at being himself. Micah and Justin get a second chance at showing Keith just how good they could be together. The three of them get a second chance at being each other's everything. The title of this book is perfect because the love and life these three characters end up with was worth all the fighting they had to do to end up together.
I always love Kate Hawthorne’s steamy, sexy stories, but this one pulled at my emotions as well as setting my kindle on 🔥! The intense dynamic between Justin, Micah and Keith had my emotions all over the place, and I now have a huge book hangover! Love this series!
I like m/m/m and was looking forward to this story but for some reason I was confused, and really struggled to get into the story. I could not connect to them, at all, and this made me disappointed. I am happy to see so many readers enjoying this story.
I really did not agree with the type of D/s relationship between Justin and Keith in this book. I don't think it was healthy and I felt no love between them. Keith deserved so much more.
Sexy, sexy times with sexiness, a bit of angst, a bit of drama are all elements of the Keith & Couple (Justin & Micah) love story. Oh, and lots of body fluid swapping, just sayin’. I am always ambivalent about this author’s stories. They are mostly sex driven with a few pages of the story. However, I guess it’s enough story to get me to read the next installment!
AMAZING! Just wow! Another great add to the series, I can't choose which book/couple out of this series I love the best and that tells you all you need to know I think. Here we finally get to see Justin, Micha and Keith get their happy ending. We've known them for awhile in the background so I was excited to get a deeper look. Justin is a Dom who thinks he knows what he wants, likes and how things are going to go. Not realizing that his heart is made for more and good things take work and fight. Micah is a sweet guy who can be sour and sassy when needed, he accepts his feelings as is and only wants whats best for his husband and that is two lovers. Keith has had a really rough past, so starting off in this book you feel like your heart will break. He struggles a lot but through that is a beautiful journey to self discovery and how he can grow stronger not only for himself but for his men. These three have amazing chemistry, at every scene I feel not only their lust but the love laying underneath waiting for the time to show itself. I don't wait to say too much for spoilers but things come to light and it was a twist I didn't see coming and I loved it so much. It made sense and made their story rich and emotional in the best way. Three men supporting each other, finding themselves and helping each other find things they didn't know they needed. Add in side characters you've loved this whole series and a teasing Aaron and Verity making you want to read them right now. Can't wait for the next.
This book has so many things to love. There is off the charts hot and kinky sex. There are moments to touch every emotion, including amusement, sadness, anger, relief, and joy. There are visits with characters from the series who I adore. But the main thing here to absolutely love is the relationship that grows between Justin, Micah, and Keith. Justin is strong and sure, but he isn't without the occasional self-doubt. He has the willingness to change and grow. His love for Micah is endless, and his growing feelings for Keith are just as true. Micah is the exact picture he shows the world, without a mask of any kind. He is open. loving, and understanding. He looks at situations from multiple points of view. He wants his partners to feel for each other what he feels for them. Keith, who has so much healing to do after years of abuse and heartache, is kind and thoughtful- but also fiercely protective of the men he loves. When he runs, it's to keep them safe. All he wants is to deserve a lifetime with his men. Watching these three find their way together is beautiful. Their conversations, their subtle and outright expressions of love, and their changing D/s interactions, make this book impossible to put down. This is one of the best relationships I've read. Everything about this story is wonderful, and I could not recommend it more enthusiastically!
“How do you feel around me?” “Like I just finished an amazing book and found out there’s a sequel.”
when starting this book, we already know a lot about this trio. we got to see them try to have a relationship and one of them bailing. so they start with history. It's their second chance at making it work.
“I don’t deserve any of this,” “That’s the great thing about this kind of relationship, Keith, You don’t get to decide what you deserve, I do.”
I love the way they negociated the relationship, being careful of the already existing dynamic and trying to take it slow, trying to rebuild trust. And changind the rules as they went to whatever was right for the time.
“Micah is my better half, But you will forever be my braver half.”
I wouldn't suggest reading it as a standalone bc so much of their backstory happens in the previous books. This whole series in intertwined, all the books kinda happen at the same time.
So far, every book by Kate Hawthorne I've read has been a very unique experience. The author just gives vibrant characters with new and different conflicts (internal and external) and I highly rec this series.
In the aftermath of the violent attack by his unhinged ex, Keith must renegotiate his nascent relationship with BDSM couple Justin and Micah. Having walked away from them once, can they trust Keith and open up their relationship to include him again? I’ve been trying to pinpoint what I find lacking in this series and this book makes it clear. After such a terrible incident, people would normally do a lot of checking in with each other, talking things through, attending police and lawyer interviews in prep for the upcoming trial. Instead they bonk, sort out their BSDM hierarchy, and bonk some more. Leaving aside the likely PTSD after such attacks, would Keith’s sex drive really be the dominant thing to focus on? It just doesn’t feel real. This book, even more than the others, is a series of sex scenes with one or two plot sentences bookending them. When there is actual plot movement, it’s gripping and well-written, so why not create more balance? The other thing that irks is that each book in the series provides spoilers about the next book. I get that this links and creates momentum across the series, but it also undermines the surprise of the next book. Under the pseudonym ZA Martin, the audio narrator delivers his always excellent performance.
Yet another fantastic book from Kate Hawthorne. This has become a favourite series when looking for drama, love, friendships and a bit of bdsm. Her characters are well thought out with many appealing qualities about them but one of my favourite things is how all of the men connect together, socially, physically, emotionally etc. It's clear from the way Justin and Micah interact that they have a history. But then the way that Keith can just slot into their lives, regardless of how each man considers it, is seamless and allows the men to easily explore their wants and desires whilst unwittingly becoming more attached. The drama we were left with at the end of the previous book is addressed straight away but there is a hint of it that crops up through the book whilst dealing with the aftermath. We get interactions with our favourite people from Rapture and the previous books with them all becoming such close friends. Whilst we occasionally have little time jumps, the story flows really well and keeps you interested right to the end. I recommend this book and the series by an amazing author. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review
"Worth the Fight" was my first book in the Giving Consent series, which seemed to be a slight disadvantage because its opening felt like jumping in midway through a larger story. A brief rundown of reoccurring series characters and their relationships was provided early on, but there remained a lingering sense of having missed important chunks of backstory about the three MCs - Justin, Micah and Keith.
This was a very angsty story, largely courtesy of Keith which was understandable to some extent given what happens to those around him in this book (no spoilers), but his ongoing "I'm not worthy" sentiments became a bit tedious after a while. I never felt all that invested in the story, characters (other than Micah, he's so sweet) or their HEA although following how Justin and Micah adjusted from being a married couple to a triad was interesting.
All told, this was an entertaining enough listen. Narrator Z.A. Martin delivered a solid performance that helped keep me focused on the story. I'm also interested in hearing more of Verity and Aaron's story in Book 4.
An established couple finding someone they want to be a part of their relationship is a beautiful thing but also makes me a ball of anxiety. (okay, a lot of things do that) I’m constantly worried someone is going to feel left out or like they aren’t enough.
Justin loves Micah above all else, so when Micah falls for Keith he agrees to let him in. And Michah couldn’t be happier.
Then Keith leaves, without a real goodbye. And ugh, watching the aftermath for Justin and Micah was heartbreaking. They still love each other fiercely, but there are also a lot of hurt feelings and blame.
So when Keith lands back in their lives, it's going to take time to pick the pieces up and figure out the future.
It’s a great story, with a bit of drama, a lot of growth, and a whole lot of love. As well as some delicious kink.
Of course, it’s also narrated by ZA Martin so you’re in for a good time.
Micah has been his world for the last six years. He’s the man he loves, the only person he wants, and Justin's number one priority. When Micah proposes they bring another man into their marriage, Justin doesn't know what to say. Keith doesn't think he deserves men like Justin and Micah. Between Micah’s kind-hearted acceptance of him and Justin’s stoic composure and guiding hand, the two of them have opened his eyes to a world he didn’t know existed. Justin is the best man Micah has ever met and opening things up to include Keith won’t change that. Neither of them expected Keith, and neither of them expected the hell that came with him, but Micah hopes, in the end, they’ll all agree our love is worth fighting for.
I loved this story with the three men, the love between them and how that translated into passion. There were a lot of emotions, feelings and thoughts around the three of them. It was easy to feel all of the emotions swirling around them and all of the dramatic events in their lives. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MMM story with mature content.
Justin and Micah have been together for several years. Their D/s started when Justin got into it to give Micah what he needed. They both reveled in their feelings for each other. When they decided to add Keith to the relationship they were just settling into their new normal when Keith ghosted them. Keith returns with major issues that throw their lives into chaos. To get to their new normal, they will have to accept that the dynamics have to be altered.
In every M/M/M I feel that one person is the axis that the others revolve around. I think the center in this book is Micah. Justin realizes that Micah needs more than he can give him and his decision to add Keith is fairly selfless. Keith knows his past can still hurt him but he sees Micah and then Justin as his future. The progression of their relationship was both heartbreaking and beautiful. I really liked these men.
One of the things that draws me towards a book is great characters and an engaging writing style. That’s why I read Kate’s books. This book is set within the BDSM lifestyle and, while I am not a part of this lifestyle myself, I appreciate the insight that Kate gives into how it works for some. Please note the warnings if you aren’t used to BDSM. There are three people in this relationship and I liked that it wasn’t automatically assumed that this would happen with no issues. I don’t want to spoil the book for anyone but I will say that the book’s main character is Keith, but I ended up being far more drawn to Justin’s story. He has a sensitivity I would not have assumed a Dom would have. Micah was well written too. All in all a wonderful book I could not stop reading. Highly recommended.
I loved Justin, Micah and Keith’s story and I’ve been impatiently waiting for theirs since we first got a glimpse of this evolving relationship. MMM is one of my favorite tropes, and their story and dynamic is done so well. While Justin and Micah have been together for six years, they each knew there was a piece missing in their relationship. While Justin was open to adding another to their relationship, he wasn’t as quick as Micah to love or show that affection to Keith. I loved seeing that relationship evolve and how Justin and Micah came to trust Keith, and in turn for Keith to trust their love. Honestly, Justin may be my new favorite character of Kate’s. The D/s relationship is a primary focus in this book (and series) and it’s just written SO well. This book has ALL the feels, and it’s got me even more ready for Verity’s book.
Possibly the best MMM with an established couple that I've ever read. The dynamics between each pair in the relationship are fantastic, and I loved watching them develop through the story. In the previous books, Keith was a bit of a cypher, and even at the beginning here was rather skittish, so the change in him by the end of the book was pretty dramatic. This is a lovely series -- I'm a little melancholy to arrive at the last book, although VERY excited to read Verity and Aaron's story. BTW, huge thanks to the author for never using the word "Cali" in these books -- now that I'm not living in L.A., I cringe each time I read that slang instead of the correct SoCal -- God forbid that residents of NorCal, the Republic of Jefferson, and SoCal all be lumped together -- that's like saying that Brooklyn and Manhattan are the same city!
This is an enjoyable next book in the Giving Consent series. We've met the MC in the previous books, but now they get their own story. Justin, a Dom, and Micah, his husband and submissive, have been in a relationship for six years. They were happy together, but when they met Keith, they all felt a shift in their relationship with enhanced feelings that made them all better and even better together. Unfortunately, Keith is still stalked and endangered by his ex, a violent man. Can these three build their own special triad and learn new dynamics that work for all of them? This book is full of big emotions, drama, angst, friends, passion, and a timeless triple love.
I couldn't get into the story. I made it to chapter 13 and quit. I think Justin and Micah were an ok couple. Nothing special but nothing bad. Keith enters into the relationship and it just felt wrong. I am not turned off by a throuple either. I just felt Keith was a toy for Micha and he deserved so much more. Sure when I skipped to the last chapter evidently they are all on equal terms but it still just didn't work for me. I was saddened and angered for Keith with the domestic violence from a former boyfriend. No one has the right to lay their hands on another person with intent to hurt them. I still don't like Gregory.
Micah, Justin and Keith are amazing!!!! I love how their relationship evolved and they gre together and discovered things about themselves and each other, together. The sexytime scenes were extremely hot. Definitely a satisfying addition to the series.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

This mmm was perfect. A married couple that thinks they are settled but are not aware what they are missing until Keith.
The love and care in which Kate tells this story is remarkable. I felt so many emotions as I read this book. Justin might be my new favorite. He has to let his guard down to let Keith in. Micah knew Justin could do it before he did. Their dynamic was special.
I know this is one I will re-read over and over again. I loved it so much!
I have truly loved this series and this one is a great addition.....I love Justin, Micah and Keith and since the last book i've wanted to know that Keith was ok after his ordeal...I love Justin though...He truly is a great man and Dom....He loves Micah and this we see how he comes to love Keith too...Omg though there's a part in this that will have your heart breaking for all of them when Keith's past comes back....It really is done well and Kate Hawthorne is becoming fast one of my favourite "I will read anything they write" authors...I can't wait for Verity and Aarons book x
