Deep in the shadows of labyrinthian streets of the medieval city, dark and malefic forces have conspired to ensure that the prophecy is fulfilled. For what has begun must be completed.
Now, Sofia has just ten days to unravel Palazzo Rosso’s shocking secrets and discover the hideous truth about her inheritance before a cataclysmic event that threatens not just her life, but that of the world.

What an ending! I waited rather impatiently for the sequel and it did not disappoint. I have read a few of Tony Marturano's books and they are real pageturners.
I really loved diving back into this story. There were some aspects that left me wanting… thus the 4 star rating. I didn’t LOVE the ending and I feel like it was a bit abrupt. Interested to see how the next book picks up.
Dang it, Tony Marturano has done it again. While this series is less good than the HAUNTED one, MALEFIC is a fun enough follow up to SINISTER. It's a bit outlandish, extreme in its horror and certainly quasi-silly and unbelievable in its twists and turns, but Marturano somehow writes novels that drag you along with him. His Sophie Cooper, now Contessa, is an odd creation. I'd love to believe that she is a real character, but the choices she makes are difficult to understand, and the ending of the novel truly stretches credulity. But what the hell--I will definitely read the third in the series, DOMINION. Still, if you do love horror, start with the HAUNTED series, which is more playful and believable. This series is high silliness.
This installment was even better than the others. The description of Italy was so detailed, I felt I had been there myself. The characters were engaging. I was pleased when the uppity pig King got what she deserved . The storyline was complicated and kept you guessing throughout. I loved it.
