The stakes have risen, and I don’t think I can pay the price.
Not only am I wanted by every faction, but the Resistance is closer than ever to reaching their goal.
Not. My. Problem. My plans are simple: run and hide. I have no dillusions of grandeur, nor do I care enough to help.
But when I’m offered a clean slate in exchange of completing one task for the Coalition, I can’t help but fall for the temptation.
What I find, however, is so far from what I expect, it is not even on the list of possibilities.

Don’t miss the explosive conclusion to Melaina’s story! Perfect for fans of K. M. Shea, Lindsay Buroker, Jennifer Estep, Shannon Mayer and many more!

Jina S. Bazzar is a Palestinian author, born and raised in Brazil.
Like most writers, her love of books began at a young age. Unlike most writers, she never aspired to become one.
It was only years after she became blind that she tried her hand at writing, giving voice to all the wild, rambling thoughts in her mind.
She now lives in Palestine with her family, taking inspiration from the smallest things in life. When she’s not writing or networking on social media, you can find her in the kitchen, baking while listening to (often very loud) music.

Shadow War picks up where Shadow Flames left off, and with that cliffhanger, I couldn’t wait to find out what happened to some of the characters and to continue Melaina’s story. I needed to know what happened to Melaina after she took on her beast form! I had so many questions: How did Aurora react when she woke with Melaina in her beast form? What happened to Zach? Bradley? Who were the real monsters? How was Melaina going to save her brother? Happily, all of my questions were answered in this exciting conclusion.

Melaina has come a long way since the beginning of the series, and it’s amazing to think back to where she started and all that has happened to lead her to this point. She is a complex and well-layered protagonist who is fierce, strong, and smart. She is a warrior, and she never gives up fighting for herself, those she loves, and those who can’t fight for themselves. She is also fiercely protective, and she has a vulnerable side that we see quite a bit in this conclusion, especially when it comes to her closest relationships.

In the last book, Melaina dealt with some shocking betrayals, and it’s interesting to see how she deals with the deception. Without giving too much away, there were a couple of people Melaina totally trusted, and they kept things from her for a long time. Melaina lost all trust in them, as she should. I hoped these characters would have a chance at redemption, especially because they were so important to her, and it’s interesting to see how Melaina deals with her conflicting feelings about them.

All of the characters are in high-stakes, end-of-the-world, deadly situations. The plot is super intense with tons of twists and turns, as well as kidnappings, hostage situations, deadly creatures, disturbing experiments, daring escapes, and more pulse-pounding situations and action. The story explores themes like the corruptive nature of power, fear of change, forgiveness, acceptance, and my personal favorite –

Melaina’s romance with Bradley is still a favorite of mine. It’s a bright part in a dark and dangerous plot, and I so rooted for these two. They have loved each other for so long, and so many obstacles stood in their way. Now, with her beast exposed, Melaina feels more vulnerable than ever, and she worries about Bradley’s reaction to this surprising revelation. I love how Bradley responds and how their relationship progresses.

I’m so glad I had a chance to read this series. It’s suspenseful and intriguing, and the world-building, fantasy and dystopian elements, and character development are fantastic. Special thanks to Jina S. Bazzar for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

This is the 4th and final book in the Shadow Walker series and just like with the rest of the series I buddy read this one with Jonny. I stand by my opinion of this series needed to be a duology instead of a 4-book series. It wasn't bad by any means. I had so much fun reading these but like I said in my review for the previous book the main character kept doing the same things over and over again getting the same results each time. I love that we finally made progress with the plot in this one. It was still a little same same but there were differences this time that made it better for me. I of course still loved the romance as well. The ending felt a bit rushed and sudden. I would have liked a little more of the aftermath. Overall, I enjoyed this book along with the rest of the series. I'm a fan of Jina's writing and I would for sure read more by her.

All Melaina wants is to rescue her brother. There are a lot of people who want a piece of her. All Melaina wants to do is run and hide from the world but she can’t do that until she finds her brother and saves him.

Melaina goes undercover to save her brother from certain doom. Melaina puts her own life in danger with this task. Her road to freedom for herself and her brother may cost her dearly in the end. But it is a price she is willing to pay or is it?

Can Melaina save herself, her brother, and everyone else before it is too late? Can she save the ones she loves the most? Or will this be her last sacrifice to the world?

I loved seeing Melaina let her beast lose when this happened the story ramped up in more ways than one. I could see it all in my head as it played out as if I was right there fighting alongside Melaina.

The world-building in this one was astronomical, to say the least. The twists kept the pages turning. Once I picked up Shadow War I was hooked from beginning to end. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to see what lay around the next turn.

I highly recommend Shadow War to all fans of magical realism! Grab your copy of Shadow War today!

I'm pretty happy with this end to the Shadow Walker series.

After escaping The Resistance and finding safety, Melaina is dead set on stopping their evil plans and saving her brother and Joseph in the process. However, when the plan she undertakes goes awry she finds herself in captivity once again. As a cataclysmic event happens right under her nose, Mel and her allies will need all of the courage and resources at their disposal to see them through to a brighter future.

What I liked most about this book was the super high stakes. I feel that in this novel especially the entire world is at stake, and that gives Mel a lot of perspective about the present and possible future. That really kept my eyes glued to the page.

Mel's growth this time revolved more around her shadow beast, and it was a very interesting thing to watch. I do still think she has something of a martyr complex, but after some more fumbles she accepts and requests help when she needs it.

Like with the other books, we've got a lot more action and mystery in each chapter. You can expect lots of superpowered battles, and once the big event happens (no spoilers!) I pretty much blazed through to the end in no time.

Overall, this was a really memorable urban fantasy/thriller series, and I got a satisfying ending to this story that made me glad I gave it a go. I highly recommend this series and can't wait to read more from this author!

I read all four books in the series - this is my comment on all four.

I'm not sure how seriously one can take a writer who believes 30 percent of $16m is $2m, has a character "shirk" his shirt off, and whose heroine sustains numerous hits to the head in each book, every hit hard enough to knock her unconscious. I tried to keep track of the hits, but I lost count. At the very least, she should have severe brain trauma by the end of the series, but no, she rallies in every instance...most often just in time for the next hit. And that's not counting all the other major injuries Melaine incurs. All Beatings! All the Time!

All in all, sort of entertaining, if only to amuse oneself by counting head shots, but I doubt if I'll go in search of more by this writer.

I received an ARC for this book.

This was an amazing conclusion to a wonderful series.  So much growth from our main character, even if it was achieved despite her best efforts.  And the expansion of everything Valderex was so satisfying.  So much action, peril, and a wat to top it all off.  I'm sad to see the series end!
