If you want a book with very few pictures and that will fall apart (not the recipes, the ACTUAL BOOK) in no time at all, then this is your dream come true. For me, it was meh. Very gimmicky
I only found 2 recipes that I thought might be worth trying. One was an asparagus recipe that sounds divine! This book was filled with anecdotes often relating to either the recipe of an item in the recipe. I found that most of the recipes incorporated ingredients that most people would have in their kitchen or could find in a grocery store (no trip to an specialty shop). My personal tastes were such that I didn't really enjoy all the little personal details. I felt like I was reading their dialogue of inside jokes--and I didn't get them and/or find them very interesting. Try this cookbook. It has some good recipes. And you'll love this book if you're into trivia and other people's thought patterns.
Great cookbook with yummy recipes. Not only is it visually stunning, but it adds a great bit of sense of humor throughout the pages with silly pictures, and equally funny quotes from both authors and the famous. I tried two of recipes listed in the book and was mostly happy with the results. A fiesta salad, and a chocolate, PB and banana frozen pie. Both recipes turned out delicious but weren't quite accurate - For example, the pie states you should freeze the pie, but it makes it impossible to cut the chocolate at the bottom of the pie (even after letting it sit as the recipe states). Overall I would definitely recommend this cookbook.
I have never "read" a cookbook from cover to cover until now. I absolutely love it. I have yet to actually make any of the recipes (don't judge!) but if I am salivating from reading these recipes, I am confident they will deliver. In the book itself, the descriptions are hilarious, the photos rock, but what put me over the edge was the extras, i.e. the recommended playlist to get you moving in the kitchen. These sisters could totally be the spawn of Janet Evanovich. Love it, can't wait to cook through each page!
I love this cookbook! It isn't just entertaining but some many amazing recipes and so easy to follow. Along with the tips to explain ways to fix dishes if you add too much salt etc. The pictures are colourful and I can't wait to try several of these recipes! I enjoy the little antidotes and quotes. A book I recommend for every kitchen!! A MUST HAVE!!
The blurb on the cover of Bite Me by Julie Albert and Lisa Gnat says it all: "A stomach satisfying, visually gratifying, fresh-mouthed cookbook." The recipes are Canadian, easy and excellent. And even if you don't feel like cooking, the Bite-Me Bits are very entertaining. Penelope recommends this uptown version of LooneySpoons.
I won this cookbook, and am enjoying reading it. I have made one recipe out of it. On page 150 is the Chinese Orange Almond Chicken which is really good. I hope to find more recipes to make from this cookbook.
Such a funky cookbook..and believe it or not..the photography is one of my favourite things! Oh yeah..the twinorette cake and cinnamon loaf is to die for!
the pictures are delightful and the anecdotes are hilarious! who doesn't like someone something that is both easy on the eyes and funny?! plus it's yummy too~
