What happens when you wake up from a nightmare that's a bird's eye view of a gruesome reality? Would you tell someone about the victim in your dream or would you try to help them yourself? These are the questions Gina Porter must ask herself when her dreams psychically link her to a madman.
Derek is an unassuming family man, who just happens to be a serial killer. Years of living a double life catches up to him when his worlds collide. When his grip on reality slips, for the first time, he will become the prey as his evil deeds link him to a woman he can't control subconsciously. Caught in his obsession with power and pain, he's completely unaware that he is the one now being hunted.
In this wild ride of nightmares, torture, and plans for murders, we watch as Gina tries her hand at stalking a monster with her mind.
Nubian Star has created a tight web of storytelling in this book of unrelenting psychological terror. The author has created interesting characters, and each distinctive voice describes what is happening in the story, and how it is affecting them. It’s an engaging technique. You are in their heads—I liked it!
The kidnapping of a famous social media influencer is unexpected and unnerving. No ransom, no clues, no reason. Gina is (at first) an unwilling participant in the bizarre headline as she begins to have psychic nightmares related to the case. With a group of friends, they attempt to rescue the victim on their own. The details they discover about the case are increasingly disturbing and time sensitive. This drives the pace of the storyline. The bad guy is DIABOLICAL; he is deranged, sociopathic, murderous, and without one bit of fear. When you’re in HIS POV, it’s sickening and that’s the point. It is a quick read at 89 pages and you will BLOW through it.
Nubian Star has written a novella that could easily turn into a sequel or series. Love her writing style and if you like fast paced psychological horror, you will devour this book. Not my usual genre and I loved it because of Star’s excellent writing. Highly recommend.
If you are a fan of thrillers or crime books, this is your book! Kept me on the edge of my seat- I only wish it were a little longer so I could keep reading more!
