WHAT THE VATICAN DOESN'T WANT YOU TO The lies. The conspiracies. The cover-ups. The truth. Deep behind the walls of the world's holiest site is a dense network of lies, corruption, and conspiracies fueling the Vatican's vast and unchecked influence on world events. From the Holy Orders that defied the commandment "Thou Shalt Not Kill" to the scandals splashed across international headlines, the Vatican is no longer shrouded in mystery, legend, and secrecy. It's all - The shocking and unsolved murder of the corrupt Vatican financier known as "God's Banker" - Real-life exorcism-and shocking rumors of Satanism - The Vatican's startling views on extraterrestrials and end-of-world prophesies - The Vatican's hidden ties to Nazi Germany and the Mafia - The bizarre rituals of the ultraconservative Opus Dei - The Vatican's ruthless 500-year war with the Freemasons - Pope Pius XII's anti-Semitic indifference to the plight of Europe's Jews and the Holocaust - And much more! This utterly fascinating, unflinching account is the most definitive exposé ever written about the most secretive institution in the world.
H. Paul Jeffers was an established military historian and author of seventy books. He worked as an editor and producer at ABC, CBS and NBC, and is the only person to have been news director of both of New York City's all-news radio stations. He taught journalism at New York University, Syracuse University, and Boston University.
for a book that's supposedly debunking the so-called corrupt origins and systems of the catholic faith I guess it's safe to say that they've done well. I'm not against any religions, however, so don't get the wrong idea. personally I cared less about this book, a complete waste of time. all it talks about is past Incidences involving pedophilia, bitter contempt towards others with a different religious disposition, and supposedly conspiracy theories. I really wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.
While mildly amusing, I am familiar with some of the accusations but a few were certainly new, this book starts to become repetitive quite fast. It's easy reading but not very informative as the writer seems to have written a book half as thick then decided to pad it by constantly providing summaries of three or four facts he has a fondness for.
My feeling after reading this was - is that all? 2000 years to draw from and the sum total of misdeeds was very little. Most intriguing was Pope John Paul I was possibly murdered after planning to crack down on the Vatican Bank.
The book is not informative. It describes very generally several cases. No analysis or conclusions, very little of history. It is like a story about nothing. It seems like an attempt to write about Vatican mysteries but failed.
The Vatican Archives holds many books ad manuscripts considered confidential by the Catholic Church therefore many people believe that the Church is hiding unsavory secrets. The author makes conjectures in the are of the sex lives of priests and popes, finance, murder, spying, and the Holocaust to name a few areas. Many "quotes" are provided without complete documentation which to me is a flaw in both historical and political arenas. The work is well written otherwise and thought provoking.
Well, how much wealth does Vatican really have. A lot or none- well depends of what is really wealth. This books takes the reader to the inner heart of the Vatican. Many misconceptions I had about Vatican's wealth was cleared. A lovely read.
Man labai įdomi šios knygos tema. Bet labai prastai suredaguotas vertimas. Dėl “griozdiškos” kalbos skaitymas malonumo neteikia. Dar kartą įsitikinau, jog įsigyjant knygą svarbu pasižiūrėti, kas jos leidėjas. Nuo leidėjo labai priklauso ir knygos kokybė.
