This alien barbarian will stop at nothing to make me his.
When I caught my fiancé cheating on me with my best friend right before our wedding, I thought my day couldn’t get any worse.
I was wrong. It got a lot worse. Like, alien abduction worse.
Now I’m being held captive by a tribe of fierce alien warriors with striped skin, piercings, and horns. But when the leader of an opposing tribe comes to their village for peace talks one day, he takes one look at me and everything changes.
He throws me over his shoulder and steals me away from my captors, claiming me for his own.
I should be afraid of him. He’s even more massive and muscled than any of the other aliens I’ve seen so far, and I can’t understand a single word he says.
But when he sets me on his furs and gazes down at me like he wants to devour me…
Some part of me wants to let him.
Alien Warlord’s Claim is a full-length standalone sci-fi romance featuring a fiercely protective alien warrior and the human woman he’d risk everything for.
If you like sexy aliens, sweeping adventure, and steamy romance, you’ll love this series. No cheating, no cliffhanger, and a happily ever after guaranteed!
Note: each book in the series can be read as a standalone, but for maximum enjoyment, it’s recommended that the series be read in order.
I love reading romance, baking (well... eating) cookies, and binge-watching sci fi shows with my husband. I'm a sucker for a dirty talking alpha with a heart of gold, and I write stories about fierce aliens and the strong Earth women they fall in love with.
This book wasn’t bad, but it feels so much like all the other books from this author that I’ve read that parts could be a copy paste. It is a different planet, but the MMCs are basically humans with horns that are 7 ft tall. Like the other 2 series.
Spice: ~4 scenes
Triggers: cheating (neither MC cheats), abduction, captivity
Meh? I wanted to start another series but it’s pretty standard and not very memorable SFR. Wait I do remember that the installve was one sided and I was never quite convinced it was really reciprocal? Yeah just ok. Wish I was more excited about this but they can’t all be good so…
Idk why but Presley Halls books are like crack to me. Such great pallet cleansers and fun stand alone romps in space. I do wish I had read the Zivon mates series first because of MMC is a character from those books making this a bit of a spin off. This can absolutely be read without it though, I just wanted more backstory.
Our story is about a human woman who has a pretty awful day. First, she finds her best friend and her fiancee in a compromising position... Did I mention it was also her wedding day? Then she's abducted by traders who take her and some other woman to an alien planet. There she is "rescued" again by these local aliens who are brutal and use them as servants. THEN, she is grabbed in the middle of a dinner service by a visiting alien from another tribe, carried out caveman style while the tribe goes ballistic and hauled across the planet to the new aliens home. It's a fun time haha

Should I read in order? This is the first in Halls’ Fated Mates of the Xaathian Barbarians series. It did feel like there were events referenced from prior series? I’m not sure – if you know if the hero and his people are in another series please let me know!
Basic plot: Harax knows he must rescue the human woman even though he should be attending his own wedding ceremony...
Give this a try if you want: - science fiction romance - mostly alien setting - survival themes – the planet is not exactly high tech with some hunter-gatherer themes - fated mates - size difference - he's 7 feet tall - language barrier elements for about half the book - higher steam – my notes were abysmal but about 5 scenes?
Ages: - didn’t catch either
First line: You’d think after years as a wedding planner, I wouldn’t be a bundle of nerves before my own wedding.
My thoughts: Well this had a lot I probably should have liked about it?? I mean language barrier is one of my fave tropes so I’m not sure went wrong for me here.
I think part of it was I just didn’t like either main. I didn’t love the narrators...though the female narrator’s male voice grew on me. The instalust was strong but I just never really felt the tension or longing between them :( There was a lot of how sexy the barbarian was and how savage he was and he was in a loincloth and horned and it was just icking me out I guess. Maybe I’ve read more scifi romance now and this just didn’t have anything special about it that I wanted.
I did like that while they were fated, there wasn’t like anything physical to mark it so they had a harder time convincing others sometimes of their bond.
I read one other by this author (Claimed) and I liked more about that one but it did feel very similar.

Full break down on what my ratings above mean here: Overall: How I felt about it everything considered! Readability: How ‘readable’ was the book? Did I fly through it? Did I have to tell myself to pick it back up repeatedly? Were any passages confusing? (I will probably score like (1) is literally unreadable due to formatting/typing errors, etc (2) There were lots of errors that made it difficult to read OR It was extremely confusing and I had to reread passages to make sense of it OR I disliked it so much I had to bribe myself to keep reading (3) I didn’t really want to keep reading and would have preferred to abandon the read and start something else OR some minor continuity issues/confusion (4) I liked it fine, maybe a minor error or 2. I was happy to pick it up when I had time. (5) I never wanted to put this down. I thought about it when I wasn’t reading it. I hid in the bathroom from my kids to read. I threw inappropriate food at my children for dinner so I could read instead.) Feels: Totally subjective to each person but did the book give me any tingles? Any butterflies? Did it rip my heart out (in a good way?) Emotional depth: How well do I feel I know the characters at the end? How much did I feel their emotions throughout the story? Sexual tension: Again, subjective, but how strong was the wanting and longing to me between the characters? A book might have strong sexual tension without a single touch. Romance: Was there romance? Did romantic things happen? This can be actions/words/thoughts of the characters and again is subjective. Sensuality: This is how the intimate scenes are written. Kisses and sexual scenes – how sensual were they? Were they on the mechanical side? Was there emotional pull tied in? Were the details explicit or flowery? These are subjective but generally (1) too short to get a good judgment (2) not all what I'm looking for - very vague or flowery prose (3) either not explicit enough or not enough emotional pull (too mechanical/physically descriptive without the emotions) (4) what I love in a scene (5) absolute perfection - perfect balance of emotional longing and explicit descriptions Sex Scene Length: How long the bedroom scenes are (generally (1) is 1-3 sentences (2) is a few paragraphs to a page-ish (3) is about average, a few pages (4) more well developed scenes, quite a few pages with descriptions (5) the majority of the book takes place in the bedroom. This is always hard to tell for me on audio! Steam Scale: Generally, each flame is a scene. If scenes are super close together I sometimes combine them. If a scene is super short or so vague I don’t know what’s happening, I don’t count it. There’s some levels of grey but generally the number of flames is how many sex scenes there are (I max out at 5 so I’ll put a + after if there’s more than that)
I've started this series to annoy my husband because of the cover photo 🤭 he's irritated me as of late.
Now, onto the book. It's a romance novel. That's really the only way to describe it. My only complaint is that the author needs to open her manuscript in a program before sending it off and deleting her annoying use of repetitive words and phrases such as: clear, clearly, and as if.
My dear, you use them at a rate of a few times a paragraph. Sometimes in every other sentence, and it's driving me mad. Get ahold of yourself. Open up a thesaurus and seek another way of using said words and/or phrases.
That is the reason for the 3 stars. I shall continue the rest of the series in the hope that she abandons those repetitive words. Because, my dear, you are writing from the perspective of different peoples and creatures. They CLEARLY would not use the same bloody word when they're thinking of something. It's AS IF you can not place yourself in the mind of another. CLEARLY, you need help with this. We clear?
This first book of the “Fated Mates of the Xaathian Barbarians” very sad report found it so bad it was boring. No one is seeking high fiction here. Not even looking for a new trope. But spice, interesting plot, something snazzy in the characters personality to make me care about them would be nice. But an entire book in nadda!!!!!!!
Presley Hall I’m disappointed. Now I did like the Voxeran Fated Mates. That series of 8 books written and published between 2020-2021. Eye brow raised anyone? Yup that was a team effort if ever there was one. Note to the Presley Hall leadership team the xaathian project needs to be scrapped. Go back to the talent that drove previous successes or soured new blood. Something is off with the latest recipe.
I DIDNT care enough to finish. It wasn’t anything for me worth finishing. The story was bland and pushed forward simply if you are already in her world. You have almost 200 pages of real estate and not nearly enough world building other than a slight introduction. I will not be continuing
This book wasn’t for me. the writing was really repetitive, the drama scenes were so quickly resolved, it made no sense. there are so many books out there now on fated mates, this one just doesn’t compare.
Possible Triggers - Infidelity, abduction, violence, drugging
Tropes - Mars needs women, fated mates, language barrier
•••
Tl;Dr - Nicole finds her fiancé (ex) cheating on her, on their wedding day, with her bestie (ex). They can rot in hell. Naturally, this results in her abduction. How? Why? I find it best to just not ask questions in these books.
Anyway - now we have alien lover man, Harax, running around on some far off planet. His tribe seems to suffer from the same affliction impacting many alien tribes in this genre… they’re chronically low on women! I wonder how they will resolve this issue? (That was sarcastic, the human abductees are obviously going to bone the unusual but sexy alien men and produce babies).
The space kidnappers land on a planet. Nicole, and the other human abductees, are abducted AGAIN by an alien tribe of the planet. After briefly (VERY briefly) “living” with the alien tribe, Nicole is abducted FOR A THIRD TIME by Harax and taken to his tribe. He sees her and knows she’s special. Therefore, kidnapping is what he must do?
This causes some strife between Harax’s tribe and the other tribe, but he doesn’t let that stop him. He and Nicole set off to get her a translator, having fun sexy times along the way. Also they forage for mushrooms. And fight a large cat.
•••
The Characters - Nicole: From jilted bride to 3x abductee. This woman cannot seem the catch a break. She’s assertive and brave without being stupid. Despite her wild circumstances, she manages to make strategic decisions.
Harax: Leader of his tribe and genuinely a very good boy. He’s patient, respectful, and gentle with Nicole. He’s very loyal to his tribe and wants to give everyone the opportunity to live their best lives. •••
My Thoughts - I feel very neutral. Nicole is a good character; I like that she didn’t become a damsel in distress at the first sign of danger. Harax is a good character; I like that he had this primal attraction to Nicole but was still respectful and put her needs and comfort first.
But I didn’t love anything. I didn’t hate anything. It was all very okay, which means this book was a little boring to me. It was also under 200 pages. But, even with more time to tell the story, there is nothing in the writing that makes me think it would begin to excite me more.
I’ll the 2nd book a chance before calling it quits in this series.
There are serious continuity issues throughout the entire book. Mostly concerning practical issues. Such as bodily needs… not once does anyone need to relieve themselves… haha
Then there are the injuries. The MMC cleans and treats the FMC feet for injuries one night, but the next day, all mention of them or others are forgotten, including any mention of footwear. That includes being able to walk on the ground barefoot.
She falls out of a tree, supposedly hitting branches on the way down, but no mention of scratches or bruises. Supposedly is extremely sore from a marathon bout of sex, but then rides a beast with no further mention.
This is continued throughout the whole book. Injuries occur,t hen are forgotten when they are no longer of use to the story.
The aliens have horns, a way to mark them as alien, but then are forgotten, only mentioned once. This despite repeated bout is sex. You would think she would be curious to explore. The same with his supposed numerous piercings? But these seem more to be a device to highlight his barbaric nature, alien-ness, and some sort of dangerous attraction..
It’s very frustrating as I enjoyed the ideas that were hinted at, the world that was begun, the story that could have been. But nothing was finished, nothing was fully developed, nothing was detailed out, except the sex scenes, and the descriptions of the males, but only as a device to highlight that they were either alien and unattractive, or very attractive. It was all so simplistic and shallow.
Yet, there was enough there to know, the author is capable of so much more! Both characters were real, and distinct. You could identify each characters voice, picture them easily (even if the MMC came off as human). Now if only the author would spend as much time on the world around them, the different culture, and realities required to flesh out a believable world.
Anything by Presley Hall is sure to be both interesting and well thought out. This starts a new series. But it seems like the hero might have made an appearance in the last series about the Zivonians. Which I haven’t finished yet…
Here we have Nicole and Harax. Her story starts out very intensely. I got quite riled up and I’ve got to tell you, I’m put out that I never got satisfaction there. But Nicole didn’t need it, ultimately. The intensity never really lets up, either.
Errors: “But even though the Engari less fearsome than…” — were less “…offer to not share furs with her.” — not to “…feeling of warmth and companionship that had sprang up so quickly.” — sprung
Our hero is blue and lives in a hut. They do trade off world but don’t live a life of technology. His people have swirly colored eyes.
“Eyes that look like home, staring into mine as if I’m his.”
He’s got a background of being taken as a slave, so he’s got a point of reference in common with Nicole. They have adventure after adventure. This series is going to be a little more uncomfortable than the others. The trade off with living in a hut and riding a horse cat to get places is having a guy with instalove devotion and really hot sex. Would you make that choice? Nicole doesn’t see it as anything else but a choice, despite everything she goes through to get to this new planet. This series is off to a good start.
Alien Warlord’s Claim is book 1 of the Fated Mates of the Xaathian Barbarians by Presley Hall. It is a fantastic beginning to a new series of aliens and Terrans. Nicole, the heroine, is captured from earth by extraterrestrials after she runs from her cheating fiance. Brought to another planet, she and more earth women are taken by the Uleki tribe after they kill the first group, and the Ulekis use the women as slaves/servants. Harax, the hero and Bekaru village leader of Xaath, comes to the Ulexi village with the intent to bond with the leader’s daughter to bring about peace between the two tribes. When Harax sees Nicole, he realizes she is his fated mate, slings her over his shoulder, and leaves a fuming Uleki leader who feels double crossed because Harax didn’t keep his agreement to bond with his daughter, and because Harax stole a woman captive from his tribe. It takes the whole book filled with danger for Nicole to fall for Harax, but she does because no woman can resist a man who loves and cares for her as much as he does. Ms. Hall knows her characters and writes a good love story with an HEA. Book two of this collection should be just as good, and I am looking forward to reading it.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B... I loved this one. It starts off with her fiance cheating on her on her wedding day! How sucky is that? Then she is swept up in a world where human females are carried around, bartered, sold, lots of things. Luckily, she lands in the hands of her fated mate and he's very kind to her. He's super slow and sensual and careful with her when the men in her life had not been so before. She has some trouble accepting the whole fated mates concept but she comes around, lots of times. I liked the steamy ride of the cat-horse thing and the way the hero was just gonzo for her all the time. Perfect length and nice conclusion. Can't wait to read the next.
The book is almost as though it was written by more than one person. It’s had to explain. I’m trying to remember at least an example. Oh, the Nicole comments on one of Harax’s thoughts (well she does that several times). But they were his THOUGHTS so she should not be commenting on them. One was something about him leaving his village if he needed to in order to keep her safe but that she didn’t need to know that. But then later on she mentions it as though it was in a conversation. And what’s up with the never bathing. We read how the captive women have gone days without bathing, then they’re asked to change clothes but not once are they asked to clean up. These things once or twice are OK and to be expected but it gets ANNOYING when it occurs, and occurs, and occurs.
I came back for this author's alien heroes and their Terran women. I quite miss her aliens. I've finished seven of the eight books of her Voxeran fated mates series. I was never into sci-fi romances, but I find her style refreshing. Not much boring and confusing techy alien world building, but more of the mated bond. I'm not saying, there are none of the action and world building, there are a lot of action and thrilling alien adventures to be read. Only, the stories are written simply refreshing and easy to understand and be engaged with. Moreover her strong, gorgeous alpha fierce aliens are so sweet, so loving and protective of their Terran or human mates. Emotions and intimacies between the couples are written passionately and with depth.
This new series though, I'm not sure if i'd continue. Although I still loved the mate bonding theme. This was a bit similar to the Voxeran series, but inconsistent and different in some ways. 'Though that was a good thing, this didn't give me the same thrill as the Voxeran series did. Maybe I just miss the Voxerans lol.
I'm not being nitpicky here. This is just fiction. Anything goes. Regardless. When I'm reading, I'd want to read with a keen mind, not just be entertained. I didn't get it, why the process of communicating with regard to the "translator chip" was different here or changed. As I had understood from the Voxeran series, the couple needed both the chips to enable them to communicate. Only Nicole the heroine here, had acquired it. She could be able to understand Harax the alien hero. Only one chip. In here, the hero said they'd be able to communicate. How would he be able to understand what the heroine was saying if he didn't have the chip embedded in his skull? This would be okay for me if I haven't read another series of hers or I'm reading a different author in another series. Also, if you'd come to think about it, two translator chips would definitely be needed, for both of them to communicate. Considering they didn't understand each other at first, for the chip to work and enable them to talk, it was to be embedded in each one's skull. Unless author thought, since this was another series, anything could be changed or tweaked.
Some issues. I couldn't help but comment. Firstly, I guess they just smelled good to each other because of the mate bond😆, especially during intimacy. I really didn't think anyone could smell good with them all dirtied and not cleaned up, especially heroine. For a career woman, used to the modern day way of life, to be acclimatized that soon with her situation and her alien surroundings was kind of amusing. Fiction yeah😛. She could be called resilient, flexible, accepting, adaptable or whatever, but still.
Secondly, since heroine despite feeling some kind of connection with the hero at first, still she wasn't privy of the aliens' so called "goddess blessed mating bond". When she was already able to ask questions through the chip, how come it didn't occur to her to ask, why hero risked his peace treaty with the rival tribe, just to save one Terran woman. Granted she thought at first, he had wanted to trade her for himself but learned later, it wasn't so. Didn't it ever cross her mind that this move was still so unlikely for a respected leader of his tribe, so dangerous and stupid? Unless there was some grave reason why he did it? For heroine not to ask or even thought much about it, especially after their first mating, was kind of dumb. She just thanked him for saving her. How bout the others left in the enemy's camp? Why singled her out? For him to take risk of going to war, put his tribe in danger, and reneged on his word as a respected leader of his clan, did she just think a little later, it was just because he was saving her and being attracted to her? Not because of some unexplainable pull, even she herself was feeling? For the hero to not even give her some basic explanation of their "mating bond" on why he acted that way, after their first mating in the woods, was also kind of dumb. Well this was done purposely I guess, to prolong the issue, for more drama later on. Hero avoided talking about it even.
The way they were able to escape two different tribal groups chasing them, from two different occasions, from within these tribes' camps, even for fiction, seemed so incredible.
For me, to decide going back to Uleki, the rival tribe they had escaped from after stealing her, just the two of them, without any backup, after finding a rare mushroom to trade for peace, was another yet stupid move. This considering, he promised himself not to put his mate in any danger. What transpired thereafter, was more ludicrous really and hard to believe.
For hero to promise heroine to save the other captive women left in the rival camp, just because she was feeling sad, to make her happy, despite they nearly just faced death from the hands of the Uleki tribe, facing possibility yet again of another war if he put it into action, and for the heroine to be elated about it, like a child who was given a new toy when he said it, instead of getting concerned for him and his tribe, even made out with him on top of the cat horse, was laughable really. This couple deserved each other😆.
I would like to think, that Harax the hero, coming from a Barbarian race, not as advanced and wise as the Voxerans, made him act and think a bit like an idiot 😛, despite of any honourable and good intentions that he had. Strak his second in command, was right actually.
Now, I'm wondering if I've read the same author.
Overall, still an interesting yet amusing read. Though I still loved how the Voxeran series was written and put together. Maybe I'd try the Zivonian mates.
Nicole and Harax - Nicole is a kidnapped Terran and Harax is the Xaathian alien we met in the last of the Warrior mates of Zivon series, they meet on Harax’s home world but not his village they are unable to communicate but Harax just knows there is something special about Nicole and Nicole had a feeling that this alien is different to the others who have held her and the others captive so far, so they run and the excitement begins.
It looks like this will be another series of books from Presley that you can’t wait for the next once you’ve finished as I cannot wait for the next book.
Although we have met Harax before there is no need to read the previous series.
We are finally getting a story about Harax!!! (I'm SO glad there is a NEW series!!!!!!!)
I SO enjoyed this new series. Harax and Nicole have SUCH chemistry. I really could make the connection they had in being both taken from their homes. It was a really nice way to tie the story together.
I enjoy so much in this series seeing how different life can be, yet on some level we all still need that basic need. Presley always brings to light the story in such a different, but enthralling way.
if you are looking to go outside your normal reads....learn some new words and steamy scenes...this book is for you!! All my jewels and furs would be traded for Presley's books!!
I loved this book. A wonderful start to a new series! Great world building. I liked the tone/setting of this world. I loved both Harax and Nicole. They also had such steamy chemistry. I was also very happy that there was a language barrier trope for half the book- which is one of my favorites in alien romance because it gives the characters a chance to bond through actions and gestures rather than words. I was completely addicted and couldn't put it down. I can't wait until the next book! 5 stars.
So you mean to tell me that she walked around for weeks with no bath ? I know that's a weird thing considering it's alien smut but hey it's hygiene. Walking around with no underwear and going at it like rabbits. It just is an important detail that I think it should have had. The book was great and I loved the story but lack of hygiene was weird. IDK about y'all but leather skirt no underwear and dirty hair just doesn't sound like my idea of a good time lol. I mean hey it's the little details that matter.
Can a women that has been betrayed by her fiancé and best friend trust love again.
I found that yet again Presley has enchanted us with her new story from the fated mates of the Xaathian Barbarians series. I always find the story of the struggles that the characters go through interesting. She doesn't disappoint. Her love scenes are always worth the read. I would recommend this book. I will look forward the next instalment.
A new alien race, the Xaathians, introduced in the last series begins with a leader capturing captive humans 8 women kidnapped from Earth by one species lands on Xaathians looking to trade are attacked and killed and the women taken to their village to be traded or sold. Nicole is taken by the leader of a neighboring tribe to begin her adventure and ends up mated to him.
Great start to a new series, Fated Mates of the Xaathian Barbarians by Presley Hall. Lovely romance is interspersed with action as Harox sees his fated mate in a servant named Nicole. I was wondering how Presley was going to introduce the Uleki Tribe as mates since they are so unappealing as described in previous books. Download and have the adventure that is Nicole and Harox!
I read this as a palate cleanser and it was perfect apart from the fact that I now want to binge the entire series. 😅🤦♀️ Such an easy read. Not too much to think about or difficult world building. It's just sweet, hot, alien romance.
I was grabbed from the very first chapter. I read most the day and early morning. I'm not sure if I've read Presley Halls books before but I'm definitely a die hard fan now. The story just flows and weaves together to create a full experience. Its all there. Check it out. You won't be sorry. I'd write more but I need to read the next book now! Kathy
The initial spark ignited a flame of fascination. This captivating experience held my attention effortlessly. Every moment unfolded with a sense of wonder and excitement. I found myself completely absorbed in the unfolding narrative. It's truly remarkable how something can capture one's interest so thoroughly.
Alien warlords claim is the first book in a brand new series bt Presley Hall. It is a great beginning....full of action and adventure! The love story grabbed my heart, the sexy time kept me fanning my self. The world building is wonderfully done and as always the characters are spot on. I completely enjoyed the 2 main characters. Can't wait for the next book. So well written and I loved it!
Book one of an exciting new series by Presley Hall. Nichole is abducted by aliens and ends up as a servant to the Ulekis. Harax is suppose to marry the Ulekis' leaders daughter but one look at Nichole and he grabs her and runs off. What mess. Steamy, action packed HEA. Loved it.
