“For people like me, who have been ready to give up on life more than once, how do we find momentum, a purpose, or a reason to go on living in the face of our feelings and emotions? Yes, getting up is important, but you get back up — ideally more confident, determined, resilient, stronger — is what truly makes the difference.” — Julia A. Nicholson, Author of
Julia Nicholson’s life has been riddled with unwanted change, loss, and adversity. As a teenager, she was a passenger in a high-speed, head-on automobile collision that nearly took her life, leaving her unconscious and critically injured. A few years later, fresh off a harrowing divorce from an abusive husband, she found herself a single, unemployed mother of two young children, lacking self-confidence, self-esteem, and any marketable skills or education.
Just over a decade later, Julia had earned a bachelor’s degree and an MBA, was named the CEO of a $450 million company, and had her own independent consulting business, all while raising her two young children. Her career has taken her into some of the most dynamic, high-pressure boardrooms in the country, most recently serving as the CEO of MPI, a multibillion-dollar company serving the entertainment industry. Julia is a consultant to pension and benefit plans across the country and an adjunct professor where she shares what she’s learned with future business leaders.
Julia learned how to thrive after unwanted changes and loss, personally and professionally and now she’s sharing what she learned in her forthcoming book “Move Forward Stronger: A Dynamic Framework to Process Change, Loss, and Grief” and to keynote audiences around the country— and donating proceeds to charities that serve people in the areas of mental health and wellness, suicide awareness and intervention, and military service members and their families.
